They're the most boring weapons you can find in the game, a complete non-reward. They look shit, they aren't even good except for firelighters or disarming.

Lightning and Ice breaks the flow of combat, Fire is useless in combat and only good as a tool.

And from now on and forever they'll be the only drops you get in the coliseum. No more royal gear, no royal guard gear at all. Just garish glowing plastic weapons.

Rito are not quite used to this visitor and exploration thing, Their short lifespans lead to more homebuilding. Honestly I'm getting the impression that they only have been developing for a few centuries.

Sheikah have an internal struggle with a factionalist yiga clan and honestly hate other people it seems.

Gerudo are all over the place but as soon as they find a husbando they immediately settle down. All the older ones tend to stay back in the desert or become happy merchants.

They then go on an adventure to find a man. More durable, and stronger if you have the full armour set's bonus. They also get a 50% damage boost to guardian-type enemies (including ganon, basically anything the master sword glows for), regular guardian weapons have like a fifth of the durability and only get a 30% boost to guardians.

On the other hand you can grab a bunch of high-level potentially attack-modified (and thus much stronger) guardian weapons from major tests of strength after every blood moon, so the ancient weapons are really only good early on before you have the means to do that.

Apart from the shield and the bow that is. The bow has a weird effect on arrows that increases their range (its effective range is about the same as the phrenic bow's) and the shield autoparries guardian lasers (most strong shields will bounce the lasers in random directions, the ancient shield always bounces them straight back at the eye though it can still miss if the guardian moves) and is only outclassed by the hylian shield and a few other shields if they get a good modifier in general terms.
