I think increasing leggo drop rates in 7.2 and more time so people actually farm the tier some more will help a lot, most guilds have barely farmed the bosses they've killed

also you have to remember that 5.3 introduced the leggo meta-gems which were FUCKING HUGE increases to dps and heals (mediocre for tanks) and class buffs like hopefully 7.2 will have more of than class nerfs

There's a bunch of sets that Draenei NPCs use if you're not concerned about that sort of thing.

T4 and the PvP recolour
T5 is good but not used by many NPCs
T11 both colours isn't used by NPCs but fits the crystal theme (like T5)
T13 is rarely used
T17 is used by a bunch of NPCs (including Yrel)
Season 9 pops up here and there in WoD NPCs
The Alliance trading post set from the garrison is used I think
And even a special recolour of T19 is used in the Exodar scenario as part of Legion levelling.

That Christie Golden book about the Rise of the Horde is pretty good.

That being said, before I left the game, i genuinely enjoyed some of Legions questline stories. They were mostly little one-offs that didn't really tie into the greater picture of the universe, but thats also very refreshing to see and was really enjoyable.

I honestly think that WoW's story could be really fucking good if they structured it better and had actual character development from time to time. Also hire real writers so your dialogue isn't unironically worse than Super Hero comic books.

Cataclysm has some good stuff in there though, the problem is that it is massively overshadowed by the shitty fucking pop culture/lolsorandum stuff.

The two sides to Southern Barrens are done really well, Worgen start is pretty nice, Vash'jir is alright. But then you get stuff like Redridge, the Badlands, Uldum etc and those are all that people remember about Cata questing.

Luckily they seemed to realise that style of story telling and questing was fucking awful and haven't done anything near as bad since. Valley of Four Winds can be a bit silly at times but its got a giant horde of insects threatening to wipe everyone out at one end to temper that.

The last patch of Vanilla didn't lead up to the opening of the Dark Portal. The end of TBC didn't kickstart Wotlk.

WoW expansion stories are now like regular RPG narratives

They shouldn't be removing content from a game

Honestly, the scale of WoW has grown too large.

Dealing with enormous existential threats like the Legion means smaller, more "warcrafty" stories can't be told. I mean, why would you bother with the Defias running amok in Elwynn, Ogres in Feralas or Horde vs. Alliance conflict in Ashenvale when you've got the end of the universe breathing down your neck?
One of the reasons I liked MoP was that the threats we dealt with were relatively smaller than the previous two expansions. We weren't chasing down a leader of a massive undead army seeking to end all life, or a crazed dragon looking to end the world, we just helped the pandaren with Sha, Mantid and trolls.

i liked that WoW also had a backstory going in, but the game felt more like your characters journey and experiences through this universe, rather than being the big dick OG thats always the center of attention. I really miss that feeling. Even when the storyline of alliance characters being conscripted and you essentially traveled the world being sent to various places, you still werent thrust into the action at every given chance and known far and wide as superman.

I stand by my statement that the original story of the frozen throne and before is probably when it was still great, but that doesnt mean it cant get better.

On another note, I honestly feel like the Jade Forest and Valley of the Four Winds had fucking amazing questlines.

Jade Forest is probably one of the best zones they've ever made. Not just in the questlines, but in the little hidden touches that are EVERYWHERE if you're willing to look for them. Really makes the zone feel like a genuine place.

i know WoW has always been over the top but it was also mixed with realistic, down to earth elements. now every person who practices magic is strong enough to literally be worshipped as a god and every enemy is a deviantart OC creepypasta enemy

cmon blizzard just let us have magical wars and kill eachother in alterac and throw in your average Gul'Dan from time to time. Stuff like N'Zoth, Void Lords etc etc shoulf be handled in long drawn out conflicts like AQ in vanilla. It lets the impact of these beings be felt rather than mowing them the fuck down like a bunch of pussy cucks in a single damn raid instance. Even Nighthold felt much more impactful as it took a longer conflict to get into the raid with the build up of Suramar. Its getting to the point where its like /pol/ saying "ok whos REALLY the big bad final boss, oh shit theres ANOTHER level of bad guys EVEN DEEPER than the jews, wow!". Putting Gul'dan back in the story with a new backstory and just making him some stupid fuck with big demon buddies that has no deeper motives other than being the Legion's bitch was just a slap in the face to the original stories with him. Original Gul'dan had realistic motives such as power through politics and knowledge, and desired to keep himself hidden from the eyes of the world. His yearning to uncover more and more power until it finally killed him. Nu-Gul'dan is more predictable than the outcome of a Raider's game.
