Last night I had a dream that I was back in high school and that for some reason it had an arcade with Deathsmiles in it.

I wish arcades existed around here that didn't consist of crane games, various other rigged "win a prize" games (block stackers, hole pushers, whatever), and those ticket games. Actual arcade games... the best I can think of is some barcade downtown that has Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and some other stuff that isn't shmups. It's still a good time out with friends, and all the games are free to play, but it's still disappointing in a way 'cause it feels like this is the last semblance of an actual arcade for who knows how many miles...

I still like /shmupg/. It's nice to have a place to update on progress/not-so-discreetly vent frustration when I'm playing shmups, and some of the other discussions that spring up can be fun. In general people shun mouse, most likely because mouse has significant weight, plus mouse doesn't fit well in a typical shmup control scheme
Ships usually have limited speed, and mouse doesn't, so it'll ruin the mechanical feedback
Plus if you're going to use a stylus, you won't be able to rest your hand for a moment, because you'll have to put the stylus down

Try playing different shmups for both and see if anything clicks with you. I have over 50% in guwange and 80% of a counter stop in guwange blue which i don't know the wr for or if it can be counter stopped but my strats (i've discovered literally everything scoring wise in this game alone from the new milks to the accelerated grazing shot mechanics, routing etc) and milks are pushing it as far as I can and that's always been my long term game whilst vanilla was just a side project that i basically stopped after beating proms score.

Not sure about this but i didn't anyway as guwange is very much a ground up kind of run and the rng is so relentless save states won't really help much, cat spiders milk is basically the hardest most infuriating part of the game with 2 boss milk rng and 5 mid boss rng close behind. Blue rebalances the game with a more bearable cat but new risky hard milks on 4 boss and a penultimate orb milk addition on pre baby dude both of which matter a lot.
