I can't think of any improvement to gameplay outside of improvements for the 3DS UI.
Weapon movesets had minor changes compared to the huge leaps Dos and Tri did, uneven terrain is terrible, apex was poorly executed, GQs ruined endgame.
4th gen felt like 3.5th gen and going to a shitty direction.
