I rolled a +Atk -Spd one and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't completely neuter him with 46 atk (I think 42 atk is neutral) and 35 Spd at lv 40 with threaten speed which compensates for the speed drop.

So long as this gets acknowledged during the game itself Echoes will have a plot thousands of times better than Fates. But to be honest even the original game had a better plot because being bare bones is better than stupidity Fates gave you. Too bad about the maps though, I don't mind Gaiden's other quirks, but the empty maps are going to suck. Maybe the actual difficulty will come from the ramped up dungeon crawling? I doubt it, but if it's done right then I could still see the game being hard.

I started Conquest a few weeks ago, reached chapter 22 or 23 and dropped it there. The map design was good in the beginning, but as the game progressed they dropped the ball hard and basically make it so you have to use the royals or have a really bad time. They're like an almost mandatory and really polarized Seth, trivializing the gameplay when used or (in the case of this game) making it nigh impossible when not used.
There's also the whole recruitment deal, but that has been a problem since Awakening.

Well to be honest Im not sure I can handle FE7. Not far into FE8, but I heard that it allows to train your units in replayable maps later on. I don't like stress, hence why I dont play any fps games since I have a weak heart I legit get hurt when I get to excited.
The thing that made me play the game was someone posting a screenshot of Ephraim saying "I dont pick fight I cant win" followed by a map with only 4 controllable units. It was funny and made me laugh. So you could say I was memed into playing this game.

This. FE8 is a continent separate from Elibe (FE6 and FE7 continent). FE7 is a prequel to FE6, and the former is considerably easier than the latter. FE6 is still a fun challenge if you ever get tired of lords steamrolling everyone though, but I wouldn't recommend playing it unless you're really comfortable with the gameplay and know when to book it in maps.

Hmm, that is a lot better than what the other anon said, and sounds a lot more reasonable, though I don't see trial and error gameplay being such a bad thing, and I'll explain why.

Kaga didn't design the games thinking players would reset to keep their units, and so, he didn't mind putting some traps in there, because he probably intentionally made it so that you'll lose part of your army. In fact FE5 is designed about this idea, with the game forcing unit rotation due to stamina and equipment recycling thanks to capturing.

It's a likely poor explanation but I think that's the design mentality behind that or some other chapters that have you (for example) surrounded and escaping. Only that 24x is probably the only one where it gets so crazy and unfair that you have a right to complain about it.

In any case, saying the game has retarded mechanics and praising the map design, when your biggest and most legit complaint is about one map design, sounds pretty dumb to me. Unless the other anon complaint was about warp tiles in general, in which case I can understand, but I still think it's an exaggeration to call the mechanics retarded.

My Elise was literally a better mage than Nyx. She consistently did more damage even with only E-rank tomes. She could also take hits better and dodged more often anyways.

Leo was mediocre in general but still remained on my team due to how useful he was for tanking magical hits and counterattacking for decent damage. Same for Camilla, she was also extremely mediocre for me.

The royals are good but not necessary. Only Elise (best healer in the game) and Xander (high mobility + ranged sword attacks) are really good.

Mozu was my MVP, I could just point her at something and she'd one-shot it. She doubled everything and had a 50% crit rate with the Killer Bow. She was the only character in my credits that had a 90% win rate (like 110 battles played vs 95 or so won).

Effie was also really good, she doesn't double shit but she does such huge damage per hit that it doesn't matter.

Beruka was a brick wall when it comes to physical damage.

There are also a lot of characters that really don't pull their weight though. Silas was probably the worst paladin I've ever used, high mobility but too low Def to tank reliably and too low Spd to dodge and double often enough. Laslow was awful, didn't crit or double nearly often enough and had subpar bulk. It's true that you have to get somewhat lucky with level ups and actually using the non-shitty characters.

I only had one, Sophie. I didn't bother that much with specific supports, so the parents were Silas and Effie (terrible combo skill-wise since there's a good amount of overlap). I only got her for the last two or three chapters, she was good (and actually finished the final boss). Far better than my Silas actually.

I didn't use Peri because at the time she felt worse than Silas and there's a lot of mounted units in the game anyways, like Xander and Leo, which are both more versatile than Peri. In retrospect she might've made a better anti-mage unit than Camilla though.
