don't waste your time with respeccing that early in the game

use the blessing for materials, weapons or armor

having more ki, toughness and ki regeneration will make things substantially easier for you

get good at ki pulsing all the time

if you're going to ki pulse at all, you better be changing stance with flux as well

since you like spears, get used to spear stance change because when you get your mystic art, you're going to use it constantly

spears are wonky when you're too close, so get some kind of secondary weapon, maybe 1 kat since you don't like kusari

Removing armor doesn't improve drop chances, it just means you're more likely to get empty drops. When you kill a revenant it rolls for a slot to drop, and if it lands on an empty slot, you just get nothing.

Fuck yes that's exactly what happens. Or I just strong attack during an opening with low stance, flux to high stance before I absorb the Amrita from hit, then rape them with a high stance combo for 60% more damage. I can block pretty much anything though. I'm using tengen, but I tried it with a guardian that gives more guard ki reduction and it was actually hilarious. The big beefy one eyed oni barely took away a tiny sliver of my ki bar with his jump attack. And it regen's too fast for anything to even make a dent because of the 2kat passive. Shit's absurd. I could probably demon thrust kill any boss to death with full life if I just got 100% elemental guard too.

Nioh has a fixed protagonist. It has a concrete story instead of a vague premise with loose tidbits in item descriptions and leaving the rest to player inferral. It is not Dark Souls.

If a dead general is the price we have to pay for getting an ARPG that isn't just another lazy retread of DaS1, I'll gladly pay it. Not being able to make you William into a comically bloated blue frog-man isn't remotely detrimental to Nioh's quality.

Try tachibana in the ng+ 160 mission, shoot em in the head, apply carnage, then final blow him and see how much damage you do. I've done some 18k to two kings with a +5, without 24% on wpn, so you should do more (my attack is measly 1.1k).

I keep my Body and Heart the same at all times, and given that I only use a katana and a spear, I don't think I'll be looking into other weapon specialization by allocating future stat points to a single stat. This said, is my weapon's damage still lower because I have CtA Body instead of Heart or would it be the same with Heart given, again, these stats are the same?

About to go for perfect rolls on my armor but I have two questions first;

I want Shorten Recovery Time and Reduced Elemental Damage, what pieces can these roll on?

Should I reforge the armor I have or attempt to craft new armor with the rarer effects already present? I'll be savescumming either way.

I can't find a infographic, but many of the bonuses are in a category together, and you can only have 1 from that space. So if you're trying to reforge for whatever specific items, make sure you're removing the ones it conflicts with....

Right, this is what i know too prior to reforging it. And I also can't find a good infographic of grouping stats can have. As far as I remember, my atagi has:
- final blow damage
- health recovery from final blow
- change to attack (heart)
- close combat ki reduction
and one stat that i'm trying to roll as damage from behind, but unable to.

Do you know if any of my other 4 stats conflict with that? I would do inheritance/soul matching, but I already did that with change to attack (heart). I assume that is a difficult stat to roll anyway.

It should be considered that an alternative to 20% CCD is A+ Familiarity, it is infinitely easier to roll and is only 0.6% weaker when you tally up damage calculations.

So I've been rolling with that DLC red armor for a while now since the set bonuses were too good to give up and I've hit a point where I need to swap it out. Problem is every piece of armor I'm getting is requiring 9 points in body/strength/stamina while I've been focusing in heart/dex with some slight bit in magic/spirit. Is this the game's way of telling me I should be having at least that minimum amount of points in those attributes? I prefer medium armor, but even some of the lightweight stuff is requiring stats I haven't invested in.

because you can, at the end of every combo in low and mid stance, swap to high stance while you're still in the middle of the attack animation

this way you won't trigger ki pulse while swapping stances

once you're in high stance you can ki pulse and trigger the attack that way. You don't even need the mystic art to stance change during the attack back into mid or low stance again.

The flux art is something i've never used for more than an hour. I don't really see the point. Stamina recharges pretty fast and i've never had to stop a combo because of running out of it.

When i'm in a stance and engage a group it's likely because that's the stance I want to use.

To my limited knowledge they are a set drop and you can't really farm them. Your best bet might be to use a respec book and get the mystic art and then respec back as the books themselves are something you can buy from the hidden teahouse.

I have a str+onmyo character in ng+ right now and I kind of want to make a lightweight character. If I main Kusa what other weapon should I pick in order to keep my stats from spreading too much? Don't really want to dip into ninjutsu or onmyo at all with this one, would really prefer to just pump life and a damage stat with a little spirit maybe.

Opinions on the 2kat parries?

this is what I'm feeling as well

timing seems harder too. 1kat parry brings you to the back of the opponent automatically for massive dmg. Heavenly flow is okay though because the enemy drops to the floor for a deadly attack however.

I'm grinding proficiency so I can do all the dojo challenges and hoping I find a new weapon to love in the process, but I've been through 2kat and Spear and still found no joy. Kusarigama is slightly more promising though.

Same thing here, but I'm stuck with 1kat and kusarigama. I blame it on me beating ng soley with 1kat and using 2kat only for aesthetic purposes only. Tried spear and 2kat as my ng+ build and abandoned it halfway through for a kusarigama weapon and since iga is the only set with kusarigama I ended up back with 1kat as well. Will probably get a hammer/axe setup next to give it a try.

but it may be impossible for you to even get the roll depending on the weapon because each weapon has its own internal seed used to calculate its next roll

some seeds make it completely impossible to get some rolls and you can even catch the same rolls looping over and over if you pay attention to their percentage values

because of the seed, you can't just savescum and try to reroll the same weapon; you'd just end up getting the same exact rolls

that's why you save up 999 divine fragments, explicitly forge a new spear and then if you don't get the rolls you want, you savescrum and try again

You don't need to drop anything in return, I'm just doing it in the spirit of community. Are you in NG+ yet?

Once you get the spear with inheritable CtA Body, get it to max familiarity. Then get the weapon you want to transfer it to, set that as the primary weapon in a soul transfer, then put the weapon with the skill you want to transfer over in the second space. It'll override the inheritable slot (the skill with the []>[] icon). It won't transfer if your original weapon doesn't have one of these.

Kelley was ok, but definitely not as hype as I would have liked. Nobunaga's fight was so much better.

Orochi was ok, but big fights are definitely not Nioh's forte.

I think that what really made the last level for me was the level design itself, it seemed to really climax as far as aesthetics go, and again, Nobunaga was a lot of fun. I'm a sucker for those kinda boss-rush fights at the end as well.

Dug a bit into it. It appears Familiarity bonus does not apply to your melee weapon if on your ranged weapon. If you have it on both it seems to just pick whichever is highest.

However, the Agility bonus does transfer to melee as does the Fire Damage Bonus. Something fucky was going on when I was trying to test long range damage bonus with jutsus, so I can't say for sure about them.

Optimums would suggest that you stick Familiarity bonus on the melee weapon and Agility on the ranged weapon.

You guys think they'll make offensive onmyo stronger in the DLC? I really want to focus on elemental magic spellslinging but it's just flat out weak. If they added a set that somehow increased the damage output of onmyo to be equal to ninjutsu or just remove/adjust the onmyo power softcaps. Seriously elemental shots still did 300-500 at 99 magic with close to 700 onmyo power while kunai are easily hitting for 1k+ on my ninjutsu build.

If you're not using onmyo or ninjutsu the only thing I can recommend is trying to take out Oda first. Peel him away from his waifu and finish him off quickly. Of course keep ice queen in view at all times and be prepared to drop your combo at a moments notice when she sends icicles at your ass.
