Torags is good tank armor

Treasonous ring was a throwback to when I didn't have a Berserker ring yet. Still useful for when stab is needed and enemy has high defense.

Guthix and Sara book are pretty useless, but I keep them around anyway. No sense getting rid of them while I have the bank space.
Mind shield for ranging/magic wyerns. Although melee is faster, I like to afk them with range/mage.

Warrior helm for using arclight/whip off task when I want slash bonus instead of strength. For example at Graardor or Kril.

D scim for Wilderness clue scrolls. Even though whip will be protected, on the ridiculously miniscule chance that I get skull tricked and smited, I'll take the dscim.

Bandos coif for ranging off task. Have't used it in forever, though.

All those items combined are like 1.5m, which is 3.3% the price of a Saradomin Godsword.

Whenever you want. There's advantages to being a member early (like certain quests boosting your levels up quickly), or leveling some early stats in F2P works too.

I'm assuming you were low leveled, and your gear wasn't too expensive. You can make money to buy your gear back very easily thanks to the Grand Exchange in Varrock (if you're actually a literal total noob who didn't play RS in it's glory days, it's like the biggest building on the world map, you cannot miss it)

Just find things that are worth some money, collect them, and sell them. For example, it only takes like 12 inventories of scooping up people's ashes in Varrock when they light lines of fires to get enough cash to replace a set of mithril armor. Rebuilding from your death will take you 2 or 3 hours at most, i promise.

Now, at what point should you start paying for membership? Complete the free to play quests. All the way up to the big daddy of them all, Dragon Slayer. Complete that, feel the amazing sense of accomplishment, and ask yourself: do I want to keep feeling this, over and over again? Is does the grinding and moneymaking all justified by that overwhelming sense adventure and badassery, especially when you factor in all the memories and friends and laughs you've had along the way?

If you answered yes to those questions, then do Dragon Slayer, and buy a membership. Make sure you're ready to commit though.

The starting area (Lumbridge) has a pickaxe spawn, climb up the tower ladder by the entrance. It's pretty shitty, but it's a pickaxe.

Once you acquaint yourself better with the world try and find Varrock, which hosts the Grand Exchange. You can buy useful items from there, heck of a lot easier than finding them yourself.
Granted, you won't have much (or any) gold to buy anything, but it's still a very important place to know about.

It might not be considered the best thing to suggest a new player to do by some, but try getting OSbuddy. It's a third-party client like 60% of the playerbase uses.
I suggest that because it includes an ingame map, unlike the official client (for some fucking reason). Plus some other handy options, but mostly just the map for you at this point.

Nah, no quests. You just take a ship from Port Sarim, no charges or anything.

There's a ton of spots along the coasts of the continent, mostly 2 crab spots though.
But if you pay 10k (per trip) you can go to another island covered in 3/4 crab spots, pretty easy to hop to an empty spot. Totally worth it if you can kill them quick enough.

Work on doing quests and getting free to play stats up a bit.
Doing quests helps you get used to the gameplay and the map.
It's okay to use a guide if you want, but it's also fun to figure things out.

I'd say do some quests, then train some stats to break things up. After finishing the free to play quests, if you're still having fun, train stats to around 40s or 50s, then go members and you should have an idea what to do.

I think a big portion of the game is setting goals.
Personally I'd look at what i want to do (finish all quests) and then start training to get my stats to the levels to do that. Train a bit, do quests, repeat. But whatever you find fun in the game you should do.

I've never used OSBuddy or other clients, nor have I researched anything about them.
Obviously there's a risk of compromising your account as there always is with giving your account information to anyone but Jagex.
Anyone who uses other clients will tell you it's 100% safe and everyone else is paranoid.
People who don't use clients will probably say there's a risk.
If you want to use clients, you should come to your own informed opinion if you want to be safe.

Chances are you'll be fine using OSBuddy, but don't take my word or anyone else's for it.

Ironman is the only way to play it now I feel, it avoids so many of the downsides and takes you to now dead content you'd forgotten about.

But OSRS isn't without flaws as we all know.

Yes it's easy, but very far from optimal. It's like saying monkfish in osrs is ezscape and op - they're very easy but there are far better but harder methods (3 tick barbarian fishing). The rates are increased, but that's really only moved the goalposts from lvl 99 to 200m xp.

yes using the very best gear you can tear through most monsters and bosses with little effort. That should be expected if you're using the very best. A lot of bosses and monsters are outdated and shouldn't stand up to the new weapons and armor that's been released a decade later.
