I'm sure you're both right and I'm not doing it correctly. I think it just feels that way due to most of the things I play dealing damage when I'm already getting rushed down.

I'd like top play another deck, but I just started a couple of days ago, and this is all I've been able to build. I only have a few vials left, and not enough to make the next step up of triple legendary/gold decks like Albert or Daria.

See this is your problem right here. This is not a bats deck at all, this is a Dark General deck.

It's a good deck but it's MUCH harder to play than a standard Bats deck.

I would try something like this instead:

You can drop the Killer Devils for Angel of the Word if you want (I like Killer Devil) and personally I would drop one of the Night Hordes for a second Demon Strike, but this is much closer to a standard bats deck.

Dragon was tier 1 throughout all of standard. Midrange Dragon was one of the ladder cancers. People fucking hated you if you played dragon.
And in DE, Face Dragon was quite strong, easily being tier 2 and having very good winrates in Master's.
I'm sorry to say guys, but Dragon being dumpster tier is literally just a meme. Dragon has been fine.

The issue is that even in a control v control matchup if they can make you discard your Odin or Bahamut then they have free reign to do whatever they want. This mechanic would be just as oppressive and infuriating to lose to as DShift is.

No one will play control and they'll just play aggro to rush down Dragon. Introducing discards is one of the worst ideas in a game where there's no way to counter it.

No, you've just never played a healthy card game. You can have cards that are very powerful but also have silver bullets. You don't have to dumb down a game to Hearthstone's level to have interactivity--you can have "discard the enemy's hand" along with cards that prevent the aforementioned. As long as there is theoretical counterplay, it's fine.

Combo decks have the same problem. Every deck has bad matchups anon. The whole Aggro-Combo-Control trinity is itself supposed to be a loose RPS where each one has a better matchup versus another.

What they should have done was never print a card like D-shift in the first place.

It just doesn't fucking work in a game without the ability to take action during your opponent's turn.

And what they should do now is have the balls to change the effect entirely.

Right now, the entire class is held back by D-shift because every single card they want to add to Rune has to be examined in the light of, "Is this going to make Dshift stronger?" because the instant Dshift manages to break through that final hurdle and consistently goes off that 1 turn sooner or lasts 1 turn longer against aggro, they go from their current middling tier to elder god unbeatable deck tier. And if that ever happens they'll be FORCED to take action, because players will demand it, because it is just absolutely a fact that Dshift is one of the least fun decks to play against not just in Shadowverse, but in any card game.

People are pointing fingers at DShift, and DShift is a terrible card, but spellboost letting you cast 0 cost 7/7s or 0 cost 5/5s that draw you 5 cards and then give you a ton of free mana is the real problem here. Spellboost just completely breaks the rules, and in a game with no interactivity it is an incredibly oppressive mechanic. And note I only mean spellboost cost reduction; shit like wind blast is fine, and what spellboost should be.

All decks should have a way to fight back against every archetype. It's not the fact that DShift beats control, it's the fact that DShift is unwinnable for control unless they brick hard. You might as well just fucking concede. Joining a game where you automatically lose unless your opponent gets really unlucky is a sign of really terrible design.
This isn't about balance here; I'm not even saying Dshift is overpowered. It's just a bad deck for the game overall.

It just occurred to me that Dshift is Shadowverse's Jade Druid.

For those of you who don't play Hearthstone, Jade Druid is a deck that basically can not be beaten by control, but gets run over by most aggro. Players HATE it because it feels like games are entirely decided by which deck you queued up with and not what decisions you made in the game. Like, every day for the last week there's been a thread on the front page of the Hearthstone reddit whining about Jade druid (they call it "jAIDS").

And Dshift is the exact same stupidity. It's a deck that has completely polarized matchups so that the vast majority of the time Dshift games are decided entirely by which deck you queued up with and all the actual gameplay is just going through the motions, because you damn well know that your control deck has a 10% chance of winning against Dshift, or your aggro deck has a 90% chance of winning.

I think the overall lesson is just that players really want how you play the game to matter, not just what deck you chose to queue up with.

MtG is a lot different. Bad match-ups still exist of course, and sometimes decks get too powerful and there's no good way to fight back, but you have instants, counters, discard, and sideboards which are huge and theoretically let any deck fight back against any other deck.
If you're unfamiliar, games in MtG are best 2/3, and between matches players have a pool of 15 cards alongside their deck and they can freely switch cards between this pool of cards and the cards in their deck. This means you can adapt to what your opponent is doing; but they can adapt to you, too.

The problem is that D-shift is a deck that has 80%+ matchups vs control and 20% winrates vs. aggro. That kind of hyper-polarization is just unfun. Yeah, overall the deck sucks because the meta is way more aggro tilted.

But you realize that one of the reasons the meta is so aggro tilted is because Dshift exists right? The fact that there's a deck that goes OVER EIGHTY PERCENT WINRATE vs. nearly every control deck means that control decks can never take over the meta, because Dshift would just eat the entire ladder. But Dshift can't eat the ladder, because aggro exists.

This is "balance" in the most trivial and boring sense. This is balanced like rock paper scissors is balanced. And people aren't going to login every night to Ro sham bo their way up and down the ladder no matter how sexy the card art is. There has to be some actual gameplay and thought.

And yeah, sword is a problem. It's a problem because its winrates are too high across the board. And sure, sword does need to be toned down. But you can keep sword essentially the same in spirit while nerfing a few cards. It's a totally different situation than Dshift, which is just a fatally flawed card from a design perspective. You could increase or decrease Dshifts initial cost and adjust its overall power in that way, but it would still be a stupid deck with extraordinarily polarized matchups.

I really don't see any solution than a complete redesign of the card.

3.Open Shadowverse
4.Hit Ctrl+9 to open the macro recorder
5.Click the "start/resume" button at the top.
6.Complete the tutorial, open your packs, and open your card collection screen while filtering legendaries
7.Click the stop button, it will save your script

If your reroll is good this is the point where you link your account, otherwise continue to step 8.

8.Close out of the shadowverse app
9.Open Root browser and navigate to data/data/com.Cygames.Shadowverse/shared_prefs

This. Dropping a creature on curve a turn and trading into the opponent's creature just to have them do the exact same thing to you next turn is boring as fuck. I played midrange hunter in hs for like 6 months when it was viable and every game played out exactly the same.

There's literally nothing inherently wrong with combo decks.
They just need to be smart about them in a game with no disruption. For instance: Seraph. Seraph is a game-winning combo, but it's a two turn combo. So your opponent gets a turn to do something about it. This is how combo decks should play out in Hearthstone-likes, as they're very powerful but your opponent can do something about them. Seraph also has much more even winrates than shit like the hyper-polarized DShift, because Haven can fend off aggro but control can Odin the Seraph.
