Even though I liked Ash, I thought leaving her behind on Virmire was a better conclusion to her story. Something to redeem her name as far as Alliance Military goes and what she wanted. Her ending up as a SPECTRE doesn't really fit. Not that it fits with Kaidan either, seems completely forced. Both the Virmire survivor stories in ME2/3 were kind of baka.

They really shouldn't have focused on Scott as much as they did. Not from a "why not focus on sara!", or a "I fucking hate that faggot" perspective, it's just bad marketing. Scott doesn't have a main character look. The shots of him are forgettable and boring, but the trailer wants you to think he's some kind of cool guy, when in reality that doesn't even matter to the people who may want to buy it. Same. I actually have a fundamental issue with a lot of character creators in that a dev created character is inevitably going to work better than a player created one. There have been good ones, but there's a major trade-off with it where you have a restrictive editor where it's easy to create a decent looking character, or a very free editor, but making a good character can be very difficult. I just made a toon in DA:I, and she looks meh to alright, but her fucking teeth clip through her face like 20% of the time.

The thing is that most people aren't artists. It's hard enough for a random person to draw a decent looking face on paper, now throw that into 3 dimensions and it's even more difficult. Most people have no idea what humans actually look like, and I'm saying this as someone who has 13+ years of 3d modelling experience.

Given the choice, I always pick the default characters (unless it's just a character creator preset) because it's just going to look better.

Character presets are actually a good example of this. Those are faces the fucking devs tried to make look halfway decent with their creator, and they are always horrendous.

Vanguards, especially the human types basically scale the worst to Platinum play because of how strong enemies are, how much damage they can put on you and how many elite types spawn that can instant kill in close quarters.

It's a bit like... most other classes will suit better, so it's hard to recommend specifics.

A lot of the entry level powers classes and infiltrators will do ok. The vanguards and soldiers won't because you won't have the gear to make them effective.

I'd personally recommend playing Gold for a while rather than trying to go straight to Platinum. That was the original hardest difficulty level, Platinum they added to give a challenge to people who had mastered Gold.

With Andromeda the entire game might as well not have happened, no events, characters or even terms that appeared in Mass Effect 3 will be in Andromeda.

Control, Synthesis, Destroy, it makes zero difference in the rest of the franchise, hell you can pretend that the Reapers never invaded the Milky Way and it would fit just as well as any of those 3 endings in Andromeda.

Not to start Bioware Defense Forcing here but for every downside I see someone whine about in ME:A, I see people ignore a lot of the positive upsides. Some facial animations look wonky, yea, but the movement in combat looks smoother, more dynamic and more fun than ever. Ryder runs like a real human at a manageable speed which, on top of the jump jets and dashing, is more than I can say for DA:I and ME3. I'm finally finishing ME3 now and I actually spend a lot of time running and gunning with the soldier's abilities and avoiding sticking to cover unless absolutely necessary. I'm excited for this to be a viable and dynamic aspect of ME:A combat.
The weapon/armor customization options for your squad mates are lacking but Ryder's customization options are greater than ever, including crafting gear, customizing your vehicles, picking powers from any tree and creating your own load outs. And it looks like it will deliver on exploration more than any Bioware game released yet. When I think of ME2 and 3, I don't mind how the squadmates armor was static, and once I equipped them with a certain weapon I liked I just upgraded it and never changed it. When I think of DA:I, I rarely gave my squad mates orders other than "stand here and please don't die". If they can deliver on fully realized and helpful squad mates in ME:A, I won't mind the lack of gear customization for them.
I'm optimistic for the game, not even cautiously optimistic.

I really don't think it'll be genuinely bad game. Most of the bad animations seem to be in conversations, and as you said, the combat animations look better than the previous game (that's not to say that it doesn't have flaws). Looks very fun, too.

I actually think the driving around will fun, as well, but then I also enjoyed driving around in ME1.
The complete lack of customization for the squadmates does bug the hell out of me, since even though Mass Effect 2 was barebones it still gave you (at least) two outfits for every character with the option to switch between weapon and weapon type.
I would've loved to see different outfits for the squaddies. Cora in a commando outfit, Liam in a hardsuit, Vetra in heavier armour, Jaal in Milky Way armour, Drack in a Wrex-Grunt hybrid armour, etc.
Or getting to choose whether Cora has her shotgun or the pistol Pelessaria likes, giving Jaal an assault rifle, and so on.

With synthesis you are basically doing the peaceful version of what the Reapers have been doing to organics since their inception- forcing all organics to conform to a synthetic/organic hybrid. I don't understand Asari sexuality. What do they instinctively find attractive? You'd think they'd be attracted to the female form since that is what they have and have had for thousands of years before ever coming into contact with other species. But you have Asari breeding with Hanar and shit. Is it just completely random from Asari to Asari? Do they have general preferences for some species? I would imagine they'd have a preference for humans as humans look so much like them.

It reminds me of that theory about how Asari don't actually look like humans they just hack everyone's brain into thinking they look like them. Maybe they're actually eldritch horrors if you saw their true forms.

What suggests it can't happen is the fact that the entire ending is framed in a way that gives no indication that the Reapers would ever do such a thing; the burden of proof is on you to tell us how the ending, is spite of being unambiguously happy, somehow demonstrates that the Reapers are secretly going to turn on everybody and make everybody into their slaves. Otherwise you're just talking out of your ass because you don't want to admit the ending is perfect to the point of being painfully saccharine.
