It's fine if that not always the focus, otherwise you end up with completely formulaic stuff. Every Asgore stuff is him lamenting about the murdered children, every Sans stuff is him angsting about timelines, every Papyrus stuff is him dying so someone else can angst. Sure, never forget, but it's fine if that's not constantly the focus.

I think he'd probably act sort of like a child since he never did grow up emotionally, but have a sociopathic streak and a lot of regret from his time as flowey, he'd probably just avoid being around everyone as much as possible out of guilt, except maybe Frisk since they're the only one that's completely aware of what he was.

I can get where you're coming from, but here's my take on it: that was less 'I choose to be this' and more 'this is the form I had when I died, therefore the easiest to materialize in when my power is sapped'.

He still at the start before he enters edgegoat form refers to the player as Chara, he might still be trying to make them recognize him, and then at the end he's just so beaten with the whole thing that he basically just reverts

If he was given a moment to think about it, I don't think he'd choose the option with people - people he knows front-to-back via resets - treating him like he's younger than he mentally is, because god knows Flowey would hate to be patronized

Again, that's my opinion - doesn't have to be exactly right or you have to agree, but I do agree that a balance is best - not forgotten, but coping with Flowey memories and having to experience emotion with them now

I dunno about a sociopathic streak, but it's likely that Flowey's instincts are still a part of him, and when stressed he can be surprisingly mean (if not lash out physically) where pre-game Asriel never would, and that's something else he has to grapple with. It's all possible to deal with if you're willing to work through it however.

Kid needs therapy anyway.

I get what you're saying, I just think that it reduces Flowey to nothing but something that must be stuck to the underground and die. There are humans who live with similar destroyed empathy and still function somewhat. Sure, if everything Flowey is ends immediately after the game, that's one way of looking at it, but I'd prefer to rebuild the pieces as much as possible, through therapy, no more resets and giving him some sort of purpose.

I can agree with Sans being a Slytherin, mostly because Slytherins are cunning, yet mostly self-serving in nature...which fits the fact that Sans only really gets up and acts when he absolutely has to, yet is perceptive enough to catch little things here and there. He's not beneficial enough to everyone else to be a Ravenclaw, he's not brave enough for Gryffindor, and he's not kind enough for Hufflepuff, so Slytherin he is.

Well, for clarity sake's I don't believe on a level of facts we would have much to disagree about. She did fail to save any of those children, she did stay in self-exile, and as for opinions: I agree that she should have traveled with the children. My contention is with claims of intent and the moral high ground argument. I think characterizing her as letting the children go and her only concern with them being harvested is that she'll lose the moral high ground is beyond uncharitable. Most of what I'm saying here about details skipped over is really not events in the story, but that the criticism kind of lacks a sense of depth in interpretation. She obviously felt conflicted about keeping you at the ruins and letting you go(trapping you or letting you go free) And blowing up the door was like a thought born of desperation than something she reasoned. I mean, some of her lapses in judgement can be reasonably argued to be affected by some emotional burdens from her kids' passing and an emotional weakness that holds her back from making good choices in high negative emotion et cetera. The way you initially put it just seemed that she made her decisions very out of the blue with no real human element to it. That there is no heart to it but one that seems to be in the domain of schemes.

I'm not a dindu here, I just think context is always important. I mean, how many fictional characters can we make sound like total assholes if we listed off a very reductionist view of them without subtext?

Like I said, I just don't give her a pass because she made you pie or because of headcanons about her emotinal state, although I will mention that decades had passed by that point so she had ample time to reconsider her actions and that for a character that is suppose to be smart and clever she never shows any of that, plus at the end of the day regardless of why she did it she still choose to let seven children walk to their deaths rather then compromise her morals and saving them by forcing them to stay which is disgusting no matter how you try and frame it. I don't like Toriel and everything I've said is my honest opinion and how I view her character. Is it harsh? Maybe but it is what it is.

I understand where you're coming from, but I think there is a fundamental rift in how we think about characters and morality, at least in this circumstance. I just want to say that time isn't always an aid to reason, I know that first hand. When you're in a rut of thought, all you'll see is the packed dirt and the walls you built yourself. It has little to do with intelligence, but it is a very 'human' weakness. Though, that is partly how I interpret her and it comes from the parallels from her to myself. I think a compelling part of Undertale is how it takes us through characters that are troubled in one way or another and how we as the player have an effect on them. In this case, Frisk made her realize that she can no longer be a passive person in this conflict, that she must now act, as she would later do in TP. It, as you said, resonated with me the most because of the person I am.

Anyways, I'll leave it as that. However, I think the use of "head canon" is overused in these circles. It's called an interpretation in writing, something that isn't outwardly stated, but is based on the events and context of a respective work. Head canon probably fits more in line with speculation.
