Now that I've finished the game and got the true ending, should I just start a new game and try to go for ganon without any of the memories, divine beasts,or the master sword just for the extra challenge/seeing other endings or just wait for the hard mode/winter DLC? Do you only have one save at a time (not counting autosaves) or can you have multiple saves? Don't want to lose all my progress if I decided to start a new game.

Alright, just didn't want to lose all my progress by starting over. I guess I sort of already did a 3 heart run since I spent all of my spirit orbs maxing out stamina since most enemies would have one shotted me anyway since my armor was crap for a good portion of the game.

Did the gyro just stop working on any of you in BOTW on WiiU? It was working perfectly fine till the segment where you rode Sidon to get to the Rutu dugeon. The motion controls don't activate the moment you draw a bow or use the magnet rune unless you tap the right analog and even then it'll just stop working shortly afterwards. I thought i turned those controls off, but it was not changed in the options and I thought my tablet controller was giving out but it worked totally fine in Splatoon.

Just curious if anyone else had this problem.

This game has to be a great example of power creep for the player, in an entirely good way.

You start off almost dead and weak as a kitten, a bokoblin is a serious threat, many people died to the blue ones with the shields, don't even lie about it.

You master those weak enemies, you get stronger, you venture out into the world and discover it is full of things that want to shit all over you and they are fully capable of doing so without your permission.

You gradually master combat with these enemies, you're still getting stronger, your equipment is improving, you have some powers now perhaps.

Even then there are things stronger than you, things you don't want to meet.

And then one day, something clicks. The floodgates open, you KNOW how this game works now, you're the apex predator and you're looking for the next silver lynel to meme all over while wearing nothing and using only boko weapons. Just for fun. You worked to get there and you got there, now nothing stops you and most things don't even slow you down.

that doesn't even make sense, damage numbers don't affect stagger capability, only difference in stagger potential comes from the difference in the 3 classes on weapons, 1-handers, 2-handers and spears, almost any enemy can be sent flying with a two-hander, the difficulty from those enemies comes in your ability to handle groups of them. Only enemies that are dangerous one-on-one is Lynels, Molduga, and the magma rock boss.

The game can be played through relatively quickly, if you want to r ush it, but I would strongly advise against it. I have never been a fan of open world games, but this one managed to win me over with a power of a truck. Just take your time and find things, it's the best way to enjoy this game.

At one certain point I think it feels like you are ready to go to the final boss, specifically when you find all of the memories.

I know it's not likely to happen, but I would really love it if the DLC introduced a traveling companion mechanic since they're going the "big open world" route this time around. Let you select a companion from what you've completed so far (changeable of course) who follows you around in the overworld just doing adventure stuff with you.

Make it so you can give your companion a priority of behavior, such as helping you collect stuff, defending you/attacking enemies, etc.

Maybe even make it so each companion brings various pros and cons when they're with you, as follows:

>Sidon helps you move around water more quickly and is strongly suited to combat, however lightning storms and the desert render him really weak
>Riju can make it so you don't have to worry about lightning storms but isn't really suited towards combat
>Teba can help you get around cliffs and such more easily and is more suited to ranged combat, not sure what his con would be

I don't know anything for the Goron rep since I've been putting that part off forever (I hate Gorons and I'm too busy exploring and such anyways).

Maybe give us a Hylian and Sheikah rep each as well? I dunno, I feel like they could have done so much more with the awesome characters they introduced instead of just giving them five seconds of screen time and then leaving them to rot.

Just beat the game. Any consensus here yet? I enjoyed it overall but I'm mixed on a lot of shit:

>Dungeons are really fucking small pale in comparison to every other in the series.
The Shrines are okay but they shouldn't be a replacement for dungeons. I'd much rather see than compliment fully decked-out, huge dungeons and provide a nice contrast to them.
>No caves to find on the overworld or any sorts underground exploration. Everything is above ground leading to samey-exploration and climbing.
(These are easily my biggest disappointments)
>Finale was a letdown. I liked the fight, but I expected more shit to go down than "oh here's Ganon, or shit you beat him good job hero of Hyrule!" There's incredibly little build up to the actual fight, you just walk into Hyrule Castle and start it. The aftermath is disappointing too, feels incredibly abrupt and non-impactful compared to some of the other finales in the series.

I really feel like the sense of item progression is lost. Most of the equipment buffs don't really change how you approach a fight, and the upgrades to the slate don't really change anything either. One of the things I really would have liked would be getting a hookshot or something that let me get up a previously unscaleable wall that leads to a graveyard spooky side dungeon or something.
Even when you do find a cool weapon it just shits itself after a few encounters, so it's not really fun to let loose with an ice sword. The master sword was the one item where it actually felt badass and you got attached to it because it couldn't leave your inventory.

Not him, but maybe it was because Zelda 1 had a more or less defined sequence of dungeons. There wasn't anything stopping you from beating them in any order except your health, but the difference in difficulty is what puts them in order. It's like, "this is the most practical way to go, might as well take it."

More modern Zelda games tend to have a bit more story to them, but the fact that BotW's divine beasts can be taken on in any order makes everything a bit wonky due to the lack of structure. In other words, the same formula doesn't translate too well due to increase in graphics and storytelling -- and thus expectations -- over the years

That's what BoTW should've done with its progression; completely lock out Hyrule Castle until all the dungeons are cleared making for a finale with proper build-up. As it stands now, the finale has no good build-up because it has to account for players entering Hyrule castle anytime after the tutorial. Obviously Zelda 1 didn't have to worry about this because of its lack of story, but the point still stands that they should lock the finale out.

Zelda 1 had the right idea in terms of roadblocking, all BoTW needed to do was expand upon it. I would still keep a large section of the overworld explorlable form the start, but roadblock certain sections and always have secrets from prior sections that require items from later ones to acquire.

I agree the should've kept a dungeon difficulty progression curve that you can still do in any order, instead they made the dungeons almost entirely puzzle based. I still like that they adapted a bit of enemy based progression locking in the overworld, though due to the nature of the world you can just go around tough mobs but you could run past a screen of blue lynel in LoZ too. But blocking off Hyrule Castle does nothing for me, and would make subsequent playthroughs where I want to fuck around less interesting. I do agree they should've gated off a few key areas, but regardless they really nailed the sense of adventure in this one and they succeeded in just making traversal fun (a lot of it is the climbing/paragliding dynamic).

Make it a NG+ thing then. As it stands now, opening up Hyrule from the beginning near-ruins the story/final boss fight and any build-up it might have.

Agreed, it's undoubtedly the game's biggest strength.
