Bludgeon might be better if your strlevel/gear give you a higher max hit and Blessed sarasword is around x.5-x.9 till next max hit. But in the vast majority of cases blesses sarasword is better.

Replace that abomination called karils with god dhide. People that wear karils at demonics are brain dead morons. Dhide gives you +1 pray, same offense, better melee def, and only 2 less range def. The reason mage def doesn't matter is because you should always be default praying to mage after their last melee attack. Magic seems to be more accurate.

Honestly get 92 magic for blood barrage.
I did about 50 kills with blood/shadow burst and it wasn't worth it. The fight is easy enough, most important part is the last phase where you need to heal against the spawns. Burst just doesn't cut it, barrage makes it a lot easier.

The 99 prayer is just cause I want it, not for staking. If I only cared about staking I'd have probably stayed 70.
I do various types of stakes, usually armor on. I started with using Verac's. I'd wear full drag til duel started then put on Verac's after it started. Once I leveled my stats a bit I switched to tanking with Torags, serp, dfs, etc. And as I leveled range I tended more towards using acb+pegs rather than whip/tent. Usually use sgs for specs. I keep my inv prepared for various types of stakes. They're always different. Sometimes I'll have someone turn magic on and expect me to use melee while they mage me; I'll switch to mage gear as soon as the duel starts.
Basically comes down to having bis gear and the right gear for various sets of rules. And knowing all the ins and outs of tactics, items, scams to avoid, etc. I've made a fair amount anti-scamming at the arena too.
