Not to shit post and what not as I own BB but not Sengoku, but as a new player I'd 100% rather start with Sengoku. He's super super flexible and can use pretty much any unit from fortnights.
If you're not hitting that 4 type split on BB he's literally useless and is going to be way more restricting to newer players. And neither of them are going to be realistically stalling for their specials.
BB's huge HP is a massive boon but once again only if you hit those 4 different types and depending on the FN rotations you could be waiting a long time time to make a halfway decent team while Sengoku is absorbing and using everything that comes along easily, plus he's fast.

And where are you getting these good units from nigga? What I put is pretty much what new players are going to have if they rerolled for a specific legend, they might have 1 or 2 decent RR MAYBE but if they were gunning for a specific legend then they'd take Ms. Goldenweek with that legend if they had to.
Of course BB is better in the future, but we're talking about an account that is literally plvl 1 just starting out and what they'd realistically have access to unit wise.

Actually I'd argue that if you used Sengoku, you'd get pretty far without actually understanding that the game and that would hurt you more than starting out with BB and going slightly slower but at least you can do all the lategame content.

I used it and then got promptly rekt since I wasn't able to kill the perfect goon in 2 turns even hitting every single one of my perfects with the perfect unit order
but then I got lucky and got 3 meats so I was able to clear it anyway, but that was 100% reliant on meat luck and I have level 5 autoheal.

So I've gotten this team to work just as Gamewith says. What you do is on stage 3 as you slowly kill the lobsters and turtles for turn stalling, farm for meat and TND orbs (pref on your Franky, but be careful as he does 5 hits not 4). Once at stage 4, SW Ace special to kill the middle guy and penguin. The lock from his special won't stack with the lock you have on at the time. Use the 2 turns to kill the perfect barrier guy. Tank a hit from the good barrier guy, and you should be able to kill him in the next 2 turns (you'll most likely get 1 or 2 good orbs on the 4th turn, before he attacks a 2nd time)

You just need to have two orbs on both Calgara and Franky; which is easy because of the orb shuffle & that Luffy's special gives me a 4/7 chance of getting a matching. Use Leo Special then everyone elses' special, just hit all your perfects and you're done.Colo Wyper would make this shit a lot easier btw, choose him over calgara if you already have him maxed

After seeing how BB obliterates Sabo like a joke I'm starting to realise just how OP that guy is, at first I didn't really understand him at all and how to build him but he's a freak of power.
Shields are non existent and an absolute joke to him and you don't even need to do anything to activate it, it's just built in. Where as Law needs to pop a special.
Gets 2.75x attack, 1.5x HP AND 30% HP Cut also going through shields on top of that per BB, averaging about 30-40k HP total from the teams I've built. Inthawk gets 2.75x attack to Slashers and uhhh...that's it. With practically no Orb control unless you pull a second Legend and no decent type boosts unless you pull a quasi-Legend. Where's the balance?

Using 3d2y Sanji and Fighter/Powerhouse team I get more burst but fighter teams get more survivability and more damage if I have a lot of turns to live. I've been calling Rayleigh shit since the day he was released because G3 has always done his job better, but that's not even a valid point. It takes one run to learn how much damage units do and from there it's easy to stall for Dice. I've made several F2P vids for various colos and raids using Dice and some of them were done blind. Dice is not hard to use, and is very underrated.
I mean I have SW Luffy but from an F2P perspective, Dice is good.

Problem with Dice in this video is the fact that you have to take hits from Sabo, because it's impossible to burst him turn 1. Taking hits from fodder to get low is incredibly easy sure, but having to properly measure HP against boss hits is harder, since over the course of 70 runs you won't get the orbs you want, you will get fucked by enemy timers, and you will make mistakes.
He clears it sure, that's a checkmark, but the fact that other legends have way more margin of error or units, and clears him with more damage to spare says a lot about Ray. Even LL clears Sabo more easily than he does.

I think actually it makes sense.
To get to the enemy turn, you need to finish yours first.
When you clear a stage with regular attack, the game switch to the enemy turn. All enemy are dead so it's an instant pass turn for them. Your special goes down by one.
When you kill the enemy using a special, you never finish your turn, you get in a situation where it's still your turn, but there's nothing to hit, so the game pass to next stage, without switching to enemy turn.
At least that how I think it works.

Imo, there's multiple phase : Start player phase -> Player phase -> End player phase -> start enemy phase -> Enemy phase -> end enemy phase
Special CD are probably reduce at "end player phase", buff/debuff are reduce by one at "start player phase". If you clear a stage with a special during the "player phase" you never reach "end player phase" and go directly to the next stage. Then there's stuff like environmental, auto-heal, Captain heal and so on, don't know yet where I would put them.
I'm just speculating here though.

I needed 3d2y Zoro/Robin and SW Franky, missed Zoro but got the other two. In order of how desperately I needed them though it was

I'm glad I hit up the reseller for sure but like you said, from now I'm just going to hoard until we get a really good Sugo and if I feel I need more gems than I have I might dip into the wallet a bit but I'm not going to whale.
My box is in a really really good spot at the moment with a few complete dream teams and I could easily go a few batches without needing new units.

I got my 3rd and 4th legends in Croc and Law, and got the 3D2Y Sanji and Zoro I was looking for. I managed to pull a good chunk of Croc's good RR subs. but I missed the most important one. It's going to be a long time before she cycles back into rate-ups I bet, but I'll be sure to go hard for her when she does.
I got a few other good pulls as well being Monet, Hack, Dellinger, etc. I wish I could trade 3 of the Koalas I pulled for a Robin.
I'm missing a few necessary RR units for my Fuji and new Law as well.
I'm actually really excited about Croc and Law as they were legends I wanted, but not being able to use Croc for a long time is kinda saddening.

So what do the ideal sockets look like on Croc teams? Keeping in mind I think Orbs are a waste of a socket but obviously Autoheal isn't going to go on Croc and his main subs and DR would be stupid on a unit where you want to take damage on.
Also does Robin see use on any other teams or can I socket her purely for Croc teams with Orbs instead of AH? (I know Croc needs a little AH to not die to % attacks after using Robin so Kuma serves that purpose seeing as I only have the 1 anyway and he has the sockets shown here)
