Stats are for amusement. Observation and discussion are for balance. Imagine this. An inexperienced player who has been playing for three weeks does not achieve his objectives 100% of the time. This sucks for the new guy!

What if in the same hypothetical example, an experienced player who has been here for 6 months achieves his objectives 75% of the time? So we look at these player averages and buff the crap out of Vampire because apparently it's really hard for players to "win".

Now a player who has been here for longer than a month cannot lose as a vampire and everyone hates playing vampire rounds because it's only a matter of time before Edward the Vampire sparkles over and robusts your ass.

Statistics are fun and interesting, and can be used to kickstart discussion. But balancing because of them is a nightmare of causal correlation.

I'm going to recommend you what I use. There are alternatives that other coders use.

First go download notepad++
https://notepad-plus-plus.org/

It's an excellent way to write code and we even have syntax highlighting for dreammaker (which means all the code-y bits are highlighted).

Second, download SmartGit. You don't need to use SmartGit but a Git application is required for sharing your work. You make changes on your computer, you submit them (A 'Pull Request') to us, we review them then 'push' them to the 'repository' where all the code is stored. The server 'compiles' that code and 'dream daemon' launches it (think of it as SS13.exe), and you join the server.

Here is an image on how to set up smartgit. There are even more guides on the wiki.

I'll follow up with an example.
