Of course, the variance in which the girls are yandere in these visual novels can be quite wide, and it isn't always highlighted as a main facet of their personality in some of them. But that's yanderes for you; it's a pretty inconsistent trope.

There's also Duel Savior which has a yandere which is more overt but she's also complete trash, so I wouldn't play the game for her. Pretty fun game otherwise, though.

Not really. You can combine ATLAS with one or two other translators, combine the information from them, and maybe work out a reasonable sentence in your, but overall it's still not ideal.

At best, it's barely acceptable for some nukige, if only because the plots of those are always extremely predictable to begin with, but you'll still see a lot of gibberish.

It's improved a lot in recent years, especially google's translator, but it still has a long ways to go.

It seems that to make the game load uncompressed scripts directly, it is needed to modify the start.ps3 file, which is also compressed. The source code of the decompiler is this:

Anyone who is a good translator inevitably takes liberties. The end result greatly varies depending on one's translation skill, though. Hanachirasu is a brilliant translation, for example. And it's extremely liberal. But because Makoto is good it worked out.

Generally, I'm more literal and Irru's more liberal. He edits over my TL and changes lines to sound less mechanical. I check over his edits afterward and I'll tell him if I think his edits change the meaning from what I think is important about the original. That usually results in a decent balance.

In terms of exactly what's too much, it's hard to say without any specific examples. Stuff like よろしく inevitably becomes a more liberally translated line than other ones
