PoxNora and Duelyst are turn based, position based card games but if you don't care so much about cards you can also try real strategy games with different evolution trees and stuff.

Fair warning though, games that are "pure skill" don't exist. It's always working with what the game presents to the player and using everything to your advantage. You will never find a game that has no "cheap" or "unfair" situations, not ever. There is no perfectly balanced game that I've ever found and I suspect that even if it did exist, it wouldn't be a lot of fun.

Why doesn't dragon get some fucking huge follower that can't be removed from the board?

Like a super late game drop (I'm thinking a 9 pp drop) thats an 8/8 with "this creature cannot be affected by any other cards abilities" or something like that. Of course you'd have to give some weaknesses, like it's P/T can be changed so there's someway to deal with it.

That way dragon has a super strong finisher that fits their theme of having huge creatures and gives them something to run that's not naturalcraft.

Dragon doesn't need unfair late game cards, the class just needs consistency and 2 in 1 cards. Ramp Storm is already a shell for the best type of deck in the game, a kill you from hand deck. It just needs more cards like Fervor, like ramp+removal, instead of having to choose between ramping or stabilizing.

Reading this has made me realize how much ramp had going for it in MTG. Damage wasn't permanent, and many of the best fatties green could ramp into couldn't be countered or targeted by spells. And because damage wasn't permanent they couldn't be broken down by a bunch of cheap followers unless you blocked with all of them at once, and then they would just giant growth it or something and now you're out of blockers. When you ramped into something it was a legitimate threat. These HS mechanics where damage is permanent really hurts big followers.

You need different skills for different games and these games are almost entirely memorizing patterns. That is to say, you rarely get by on instinct or reflexes alone. The problem is that it's easier for haven to win against aggro because it's harder for them to brick. Their entire deck is basically nothing but removal to use to stall until they draw their wincon. Well, aggro is certainly not the fucking place to start with, now is it? Almost all 80/20 match ups in the game involves a control deck on the receiving end of the shit odds. D.Shift vs control, Nep vs Dragon, Roach vs CBlood, Dirt vs Shadow, Dirt vs Seraph, Dragon vs Sun etc..

The entire point of aggro is that you can never completely shut it down. They can always steal a game from a counter due to how consistent their combination of low curve + reach is.

If you want all the archetypes to have more "fair" matchups their core strengths and weaknesses have to be diluted. HS suffers from the extreme of this problem where classes feel homogenized even if their winrates against each other are close to 50%.

SV is on the other end of the spectrum as every classes baked-in mechanic is a lot more impactful than a 2mana hero power (generally speaking). As a result your good matchups feel like almost guaranteed wins while your bad matchups are autoconcede.
