Between the login rewards and reward tracks I don't mind the scarcity of transmute charges, but the nerf to reward tracks just allowed some players to get ahead with shitloads of charges.

Unfortunately the best way to acquire your initial Asc gear is probably by crafting it. Sometimes you can get some pieces you want from some achievements, so take note of which achievements give you Asc gear as a reward. Warning though, most Achievements that give that kind of reward probably aren't even worth it to aim for your initial Asc gear, since it's probably really grindy or you already require existing Asc gear.

Another way to get Asc gear would be if you can get a raid group to carry your worthless sorry ass... just like you could get some Fracs group to carry your sorry ass to get a chance at Asc rewards.

It's easier to get Asc gear after you already have it, as is the case in Fracs/raids.
