It's mediocre. The story and characters are hot fucking garbage, and it tries to mimic the Persona formula but the lack of a budget means it can't do much on that front. The gameplay aspect isn't so bad though, it had better dungeons than P3/4 at least, and the combat is alright. The enemy designs fucking suck, and attack animations are criminally long though. The localization also rewrote the second dungeon's story from being about gravure modeling to dressing up in silly outfits, which is fucking ridiculous. And there were a tone of nonsensical localization changes to costumes.

You may or may not find them difficult to deal with considering SMTIV's faults, but the atmosphere is trash compared to the original and P2 duology due to a combination of elements such as bad music, an inexperienced artist, and again, terribly retarded writing. 3 and 4 are like corporate pop. P5 also has a lot of the same faults, but it makes up for it with technical expertise. Just try not to play the English version if you can help it, because Atlus USA has demonstrated astonishing incompetence lately.
Keep in mind the PSP version of Persona 1 had a redone soundtrack, but you can find a patch that restores the original OST in the OP. The PSP version of P2EP wasn't localized, although the PS1 version was. What set the PSP version apart the most was that it added a new scenario to explain what happened to one of the characters in IS.

The characters are just a bunch of pixels so of course the portraits needed to be more expressive otherwise the character models would just be a blob of pixels. The characters aren't much better really. Maya is really good and has his litte arc as the big sister of the group Lisa was interesting but goes nowhere after they defeat the shadow (her shadow also comments how he whores himself, this comes form the left field and without a proper setup and after that nobody talks about it which looks like a way of discredit Lisa's character in favour of Maya) Eikichi the bro to end all bros gets 0 development, he's funny but theres nothing going on for him, Jun is just there and Yukino fucks off half way through the game. Also Nyarly is a shit villain who only appears 5 minutes at the end destroys the world and then fucks off with no real resolution to his character.

Yes. He manages to give him a temper and such without it being obnoxious, and he does the childish and excited stuff well too. The few scenes where shit gets out of control are really well acted as is to be expected, like the back and forth with Kamoshida, the fight with Mona, and the scene after they first find out Goro knows they're the PT. And the scene where he starts to open up about his past to Yusuke and the Protag is really well done too.
I feel like any other VA would've made him unlikable, but he gets it perfect.

Miyano's performance for Ryuj is pretty solid, but it's not really a role that carters well to his strength, in my opinion. His more serious scenes (and the lighter-hearted ones where he isn't just being the loudmouthed boke throughout the entire scene) are great, and even though he's loud and brash, he never fully crosses into sounding annoying/obnoxious even though that's a common trap for character types like that.

I agree. The way the 'injured' or 'angry' expressions are used as a catch-all for disgust, embarrassment, contempt and so on isn't the hottest thing though. About half of the characters who actually have philtrums have it veer off to the side of their lip though, which looks crazy. There's also stuff like Sadayo's eyes' elevations or the perspective on Goro's, Sae's absurdly small upper lip and inconsistent lipstick on the bottom, and so on.

I was referring to Persona 1 in that case, not 2. Persona 5 is really good too, but its dungeons are too linear and gimmicky and the combat gets dragged down a bit since the game was mostly designed to be easily beaten even if you don't get any of the co-ops. I personally just prefer Persona 1.

In all seriousness, I disagree on Wendee Lee being a better voice for Fuuka, she doesn't give Fuuka the soft and gentle tone Fuuka is supposed to have.
Paula Tiso's performances aren't the best either, but she at least gives Fuuka her calm tone.

Don't go" There are also multiple actions throughout the game where you can do some..strange things to him. That depends on a few factors. How much time per-day can you play it for? On lower difficulties P4 can be beat in like ~50 hours.
On one hand I'd advise against it since you might get burnt out on the game, and worsen your P5 experience, but on the other hand, you'd have P4 fresh in your head and would see all the improvements introduced in P5 which would improve that.

That's ridiculous. The only source you have is a single popularity poll that fucking Goro won, and the blank slate MC was runner up in. Don't be so stupid as to treat that as something of value.
And to be frank, this meme that Japan hates her is retarded and unfounded in the first place; She's been one of the most cited in character discussion topics. Her character gets an arc on the level of - if not above some of the party members, going from being the lead rival, to being pushed around and exploited by the lead antagonists, becoming a lead target, to being one of the biggest adversaries to the group. Without her existing, the game would feel significantly less unbiased against adults, but her arc adds someone in the scheme of it all with more of a direct connection to the villains than any of the main party, who ISN'T bad. Sae has like no connections to Goro at all though. And through the entirety of Sae's Palace, the only arc Makoto has is "onee-chan I can't believe you're like this". The reason she's low on those polls is because the people that dominate them are either the boys that the fujos are in love with, or the girls that the waifufags are.
