Vanhemar is your boy for reveal. Personally I would probably, when possible, drop geralt for Tibor and yenn and ciri for vilgefortz and skellen, those guys will get you Vanhemar. Maybe keep ciri since tibor puts you down a card and vilge isn't as good with emhyr, but then again cahir isn't that good with emhyr since emhyr is shit even in his own archetype

So I've had the chance to spend an hour or two with the game, I'm a fan of the fundamental design choices so far. To start off I've been playing quite a bit of the Nilfgaard deck, although I haven't been too successful with it yet. I'm learning the mechanics as I go, though, so that is to be expected.

Right now, I try to play my cards early that benefit from card discovery, keeping cards like clear sky against decks such as monster themed ones with weather cards. I try to save my spy combinations as much as I can as well, but at times I just run out of steam.

Any advice for a new player?

If you're using a lot of cards that attempt to reveal cards in hand, you're going to lose a fair amount, although you should do fine at the low levels.

Reveal suffers from being based around buffing up a few units, which can be countered very easily by cards like Demiritium Bomb, scorch, or other removal cards.

reveal is weak right now, but fun. You seem to have the gist of it, eventually you learn to read a round and your opponent and learn when you need to give up the ghost and pass.

mangonels are just too vulnerable to see serious play since NG has no self-rez

crafting the cheap but effective epics like ciri and yencon if you haven't yet would probably give you a nice boost

Gwent cards don't feel like "actual" cards if you know what I mean. They feel like minions placed on board or just pictures that got stripped of all the additional information that typically gets disclosed on a card.

That's because they ditch the entire of the text and effects explanation and place it somewhere else to keep the visual fidelity of the card.

Is that a serious post? UI has been the biggest subject of complaints so far and honestly you don't need to go far to spot what's wrong with it.
Leaving the overall production value complaints and the fact that Gwent will probably never reach Hearthstone in that regard, there are obvious problems with basically every single part of the interface, especially those that you've mentioned already.

There's no need for huge cards that you have to scroll through unless you're playing on a console.

It's the same for the main menu, huge fucking boxes everywhere. The collection manager and deck builder are trash as well.

Nilfgaard lacks general synergy which is sort of compensated by them having gigantic golden cards like Xarthisius, Vilgefortz, Cahir etc and some of the most overpowered bronzes in the game like knights and rot tossers. You're speaking nonsense. The only way to "play around it" is removing cow carcass from your side of the board. Up to 5 times in a match, and each time you've got only 1 turn to do so. And every time you don't you might get your row wiped because weather. This is bullshit.

No, you're just not in the position to comment on this card. The fact that people don't let themselves get cowed blindly only shows that the meta adapted to counter this bullshit but it certainly doesn't mean that the card is not batshit overpowered.
Some cards like brokvar archers, old KSS, Cleaver seen a lot of play only because of the fact that you can encounter cows on the ladder, this bronze also forces out some of the leader abilities like Radovid's or Eithne's, a lot of different cards like Decoy, Alzur's, Auckes even Pavetta sometimes.

Again, as I've said already, Nilfgaard is in dire need of some sort of a rework/enhancement because it relies way too hard on some of it's overpowered gimmicks since everything else is just below average at best.
