In general, most will be building tall instead of wide in Geheminsnacht. For the elves, there is stuff like making colonies but for the most part you will be politicking, building up your kingdom, or fighting off raids and invasions by the dark elves. I played EU3 for a few years before I started playing vicky. I tried playing it a few times, but was never able to get into it because I had no idea what was happening. When I decided I wanted to really learn the game, I tried watching hours of tutorial videos, but they were frustratingly unhelpful. I don't need to know every detail of which pop types promote to which under specific circumstances etc.
When I gave up on that I found that the game was actually much simpler than I thought. It's a very detailed simulation, but the game can be played at the "surface" level just fine.

I played Sardinia-Piedmont as my first game with the goal of forming Italy and getting all my cores. I think that's a nice beginner scenario because it's not too hard to make it happen even if you don't know what you're doing, but still leaves you with plenty to do for the mid and late game. Playing Prussia puts you more in the middle of things, and once you form Germany it's not clear what your next goals should be. Since V2 is a very planning-focused game, it's nice to ease into it by playing a nation with an obvious "plan" according to its cores.

If you really need the extra relation thought it's only 60 dip you lose over the 5 year period.

For devi the mother you get +2 dip skill, so over another 5 years after that you get 120 back.

Nope.

Muscowy is eastern and can have more cav in their ratio, but their cav isn't actually better(unless they have cossacks) than westerners.
Some westerners may even have better cav due to national ideas unless muscovy makes sure to always keep the cossack estate at 20% cav combat.

Also note at the bottom "More Cav can be added for higher cost, be wary of the cav ratio limit".
This is true for western and eastern.

Individual cavalry regiments deal more damage than individual infantry regiments even in the western tech group, and even late in the game.
The problem is their higher maintenance cost especially during reinforcement(which you can avoid by just keeping the cav for flanking.

If you keep a consistent high cav bonus from the cossacks you could try keeping more cav in your army. Doubt it's worth the cost for muscowy though, maybe in some fights.

First time playing HPM as the US - how do I annex Texas? First I was surprised that you needed relations with Texas to be Friendly to even intervene in the war so Mexico almost ate them but Texas somehow survived, I guess because >Texas. But then I got alliance with them, had max relations and now have them in my sphere of influence and they're still not petitioning.

If I wasn't certain that I couldn't have possibly pushed relations with Texas from Neutral to Friendly in the time it took Mexico to lose the war I'd say I screwed up but as it is I don't know.

The description (basically) says that there's no limitation on subjugation within the kingdom.
