Between the anniversary, holidays, and AGDQ, Undertale had a lot of exposure to the internet. As such, several anons of threads past probably felt sentimental and dropped by, increasing activity. You didn't think it was just coincidence that a lot of anons were announcing their returns a few months ago, did you? Anyway, they stuck around for a while, blended in seamlessly, and then started falling off soon after. It's not too hard to imagine since they already left once that they'd move on again once the nostalgia wore off. Now we're setting back into our real "active" crowd and things are settling back down. I've been writing notes on this for a while, and for the most part, have been sitting on it. Basically, Toriel shortly before the exile of monsters absorbed the essence of surviving monster culture and histories at the time and lives on to preserve them in tomes. She spends a lot of time cataloging their existences, leaving ample compendiums on the lost and the dead, hoping to preserve who they were as people. Though, the effects of all the knowledge leave her a skewered perception on things; conflicted.

It's literally based on nothing, but I thought it was a fun threading.

I never understood why people had trouble accepting this theory. Possibly, but I don't think they paid a lot of attention. For one thing, they claimed previously that the game would absolutely follow in the spirit of Undertale. However, when they got shit for almost completely cutting the Ruins section from the demo (save for some purple corridors), they whined how 'constricting and linear' it would be to just roll through the same strokes, so they're taking some liberties.

They removed Frisk's voice though. In return, Chara's voiced now, too.

The bros and gaster are also pretty popular there, but Flowey generally gets a better treatment. Most Western depictions tend to go either some shade of FINAGLC, or just constantly moping. Japanese fans have decided Flowey (and by extension Omega) is actually cute and most post-TP stuff has him mellow into more of a nuisance or a naughty, somewhat difficult child, while at the same time having no trouble keeping the darker parts of him as well (committing/attempting suicide post-TP, or hurting, torturing, murdering others in-game).

Yeah, I really like Flowey for instance, but dinduing him would just make his character a lot less interesting. People I hang out with also love Flowey, but none of them try to deny what he does, at most they'll argue on smaller things (like saying he read every book doesn't mean he understood all of them or didn't just skim a couple), but I haven't yet seen anyone deny that he most likely murdered Asgore a number of times, for instance.

Floweypot is the worst influence on TP Flowey stories. It's really cute to draw, but the last thing Flowey wants after being stuck in underground prison for years is to be put in an even smaller jail cell. Writers have to completely warp key parts of Flowey's personality in order to shoehorn Floweypot into their work. If I was writing a comic with a TP Flowey, they'd be far more animated with clever use of their vines. They'd be found slithering their way along handrails, swinging around the house by ceiling hooks, or clinging to various humans/monsters. All of this in addition to their usual mode of travel. If Flowey has to sleep inside, he certainly isn't going to sleep in some tiny ass pot. He'd sleep like a king in an aquarium filled with dirt, or something equally silly.

Flowey's character relies on an overabundance of freedom. An immobile Flowey neuters the core part of their personality.

I think a bigger problem is that a lot of writers/artists just don't know what to do with Flowey, beyond "put in pot and bring out of Underground". He then gets placed on a table or something and is promptly forgotten about, which honestly just defeats the purpose of bringing him up in the first place

I don't particularly mind the pot in general (hell knows there's so much variation just regarding Flowey's body and roots), but I prefer it as more of a 'wheelchair', than anything else. He stays in it to recoup, feed off the soil etc, but otherwise likes to curl around objects, hide in shirts, pockets and stockings, or just attach himself to Frisk, pic related. Depending on how you shape the story, you could even frame it as part of a trust exercise, or something.

Otherwise I can imagine him having a pot on Frisk's table, a small, bed-shaped box near Frisk's, a separate flowerbed outside in the yard filled with little fences and such he can hang around on. I like the concept in general, it's just the execution that ends up being lazy.

Simplified, that number is 593 sextillion. That's 593 followed by 21 zeroes. Let's assume Flowey is really bored one day and decides to reset once per second until he resets 593 sextilion times. How long will it take? At a rate of once per second, Flowey can reset 86 thousand times per day. That's 605 thousand times per week, 2.6 million times per month, or 31.5 million times per year. In one million years, Flowey will have reset 31.5 trillion times (315 followed by 11 zeroes). And yet, despite resetting for one million years, he hasn't even made 1% progress towards resetting 593 sextillion times. Hell, he won't even be 1% there if he resets for ONE TRILLION YEARS. And remember, this is assuming Flowey resets 86,000 times a day instead of 2~3 times. That's how mindbogglingly stupid this number is. Sans' monster brain would have exploded from the sheer amount of data that has to be stored.

The fact that Sans gives an exact number at all is hilarious. I hope for the author's sake they retcon it as Sans intimidating Flowey with obvious bullshit. It's not like Flowey would've ever thought to keep track of how many times they've reset.

The artist is just really fucking bad with numbers. Right after this, there's a moment where Sans says Flowey still kills Frisk 80 times a week(which he doesn't object to, so has to be more or less correct), since there's 168 hours in a week, that means Flowey kills Frisk an average of once every two hours.

Even later on, when Flowey needs to be healed so Sans can cover up the torture, he forces Flowey to eat an apple (which he hates), restoring a little health. Sans does a quick calculation and surmises that he needs to eat another 435 apples. He is actually incorrect, because Flowey has 99999 health, not 9999(don't think about it much), but even running just these calculations:

An average green apple, as depicted in the story, weighs about 5-6 ounces, so let's roll with a middle of 5 and half. 435 apples weigh a total of ~149.5 pounds. The average weight of an 18 year old boy is around ~150 pounds. Flowey was to eat the total mass of a teenager, in order to heal up, BUT, because Sans was incorrect about his HP, he actually would have need to eat the mass of roughly 10 teenagers.

So no, the artist is actually just fucking stupid with numbers.

To be fair, Frisk being killed 80 times in a week is possible because resetting adds time back into the week. What's a "week" to everyone else could easily be three weeks to Frisk and Sans. Additionally, there's no reason to believe resetting magically stops Flowey's temper tantrum. Frisk might be killed several times before calming Flowey down enough so that he can let time move forward again without worry.
