They rank the weapons on total combined attack rating, so the elemental weapons will generally score higher than the pure physical counterpart.

In reality, the split damage results in weaker strikes on each attack because, as I understand it, both the physical and whichever element defence of an enemy comes into the equation.

Higher AR in pure phys helps you get closer to the zone where you deal appreciable damage to BBI stuff.

The exception to this is the Hallowed Dragon archistaff, which is entirely magick rather than split, so it is better than the Bane Archistaff.

This is just as I understand it, if a DD vet wants to crawl out of the woodwork to correct me I'm happy to learn.

If it's any consolation you take hard mode damage in the 2nd loop of bbi regardless of difficulty. Being on hard would still increase stamina consumption and enemy stagger resistance though.

I was having fun, but this dragon has got to be one of the most frustrating things ive fought in a video game. I've spent 2 days trying to kill him, he always runs away at low HP. I dont think i can do enough damage to clip his wings, or even if wing clipping is something thats actually possible.


Im starting to really regret selling an ice sword i found earlier, I already know he's weak to ice because one of my companions keeps using ice spells on him, which is nice.

"what skills and how often to use them based on beastiary" is a meme even more far-fetched than pawn traing though, pawns' behaviours are way too much heterogeneous to even image that. The truth is that we don't how it exactly works, but bestiary knowledge is clearly limited to what we already know about it, which is basicaly knowing the weak points, which elements are more suitable, and some pawn group strategies, it has nothing to do with the reason why a pawn keeps spamming a skill and barely using another one, and why those preferences are heterogeneous among pawns.
Yeah, Skill Use stat is how often they prefer using skills over normal attacks.

Working on my pawn's gears to find a compromise between fashion, magic def stat, and debilitation resistance for the people who will hire him for BBI runs. Since I'm still at stage 5 I had to comprimise a lot, but here you go, in case a lv 42 fighter is fine now he has better magic def, some fire and ice resistance, 100% sleep resistance and a little of petrification and possession resistance (20% and 26%).

Entering a riftstone counts as a checkpoint save. You can tell because the game states it is a checkpoint save instead of a regular one. Advancing through the main questline will also make checkpoint saves, as will using a maker's finger.

My endgame right now is literally beating him even once. Right now at 125 levels MK I dont see how I can do it without being solo and using about 100 periapts. The ogre bone earrings (more stagger and knockdown resistance) are very useful when you prepare the spell. Barbed nails (more knock and stagger power) are useful to enchance the effect of High Ingle, and especially of Magick Billow, which becomes a good and fast move when the enemy reach you, or you can run towards an enimy such a ranged one and knockdown it with a single Magick Billow before it does something.
When I switched both my arisen and my pawn to sorc, gave the pawn two ogre bones to make him a sort of tanky sorc and gave the arisen two barbed nails to make him a fast knock / stagger machine.

You can get lvl 3 weapons from awakened daimon, yeah, but since you struggle so much with death I'd say daimon is also going to be a rather painful fight.

If you just want to farm eq you could always go ranger and spam tenfold flurry with blast arrows to easily farm death and pretty much every other boss enemy. Still if you want to go MA I'll wish you good luck on getting the lvl 3 bow :^)

I usually use bow + sword/dagger
Bow for ranged, or even just use ol' rusty to make some fights a bit easier if you want.

Sword for Dire Gouge and Daggers for Hundred Kisses. Clairvoyance and Masterful Kill are pretty good too.

Is hard mode even worth it? Dying really fast for most of the game seems pretty exciting, but it seems like the crazy high stagger resistance everything has makes the combat feel super unsatisfying unless you just spam special attacks (and then spam items to recover stamina) and that the crazy amounts of gold/exp/dp you get ruin the level curve of the game.

overall it just seems like it's making the game more boring, is there something I'm missing here?

The fact that hard mode was originally a free DLC for the original game (pre Dark Arisen) because people complained that NG+ didn't have difficulty scaling, so hard mode was added to make the game slightly more playable after the first playthrough.

Then DA came out and hard mode was bundled with it from the beginning and retards continue parroting the idea that literal artificial difficulty mode is the intended way to play.

When I tab back to the game I always notice some framerate issues for about 5 seconds but then it fixes itself.
