PvP is busted right now anyway with exploits + avatars. Comfy is good because there's no building damage (so you can be like me and have a comfy little river house), but the population is kind of low. On the other hand, most servers have a pretty low population compared to what I was expecting, so it's not that bad.

it really depends on the server, but there always are people raiding.
people with steel weapons (level 20) can destroy your t1 buildings.
as soon as you get t2 buildings (level 20 too), people need bombs to break your shit open. unless you're on a 3x or plus rates server, i don't think many people would bother grinding bombs to just raid small isolated bases.

i'd say in general, it's not that bad.

it personnally happened to me only once, but i mostly played on the vg servers where nobody was raiding until that red headed avatar summoning naked chick.

Check that subreddit or the server list and find a server that was just wiped, there are some every day. Only problem is finding one that has actual people playing on it. The one I'm playing on was wiped on the 4 days ago but has 3x rates. At the same time people are normie as fuck here and seem to be doing shit slowly. No offense to Funcom, but the rollout of PvP is really offputting. The amount of effort required to shit on someone's base (just get to 30) makes people far less likely to invest any time in making an aesthetically pleasing base.

I've been poking around the control panel and found an option to modify damage to buildings, which could hopefully lead to a bigger time/resource investment in raiding.

In combination with adjusting the time restrictions, it could potentially lead to a more balanced PvP experience.

Can someone explain to me why this game is apparently so good? I'm trying to learn more about it before I buy. I like the setting and the game looks beautiful, but I don't know much about it other than it's a survival game. I see it has single player, is it actually fun alone? What the combat like? I tried looking it up on YouTube but it's either a huge series with 30 long episodes, or a tiny video about the early game.

i like it because it's brutal. most things and npcs out there are there to kill you if hunger and thirst don't do it first. i haven't played in single player but depending on the server population you might not see a single guy in 3 hours of playing (in 40 pop servers you might see a few people if you go to certain areas). so yes, it is fun "alone" because of base building, leveling and npc/slave interaction

now combat is really barebones atm. you can dodge some monster attacks by jumping and using a spear and block attacks using really easily falling apart shields. and of course you can dodge arrows but i don't have much pvp experience. multiple people fighting just one easily makes the numerically superior side attack one another due to swords having slashing attacks. then there's potions, magic, stat attributes and shit but they're not really complex or even closely finished aspects of the game

What's the general consensus on leveling? Which stats are best? Currently I've leveled survival and agility, and my religion is Yog, if that matters.

survival is trap stat, actually makes food saturation (full status) drain more quickly. agility is ok for low levels but has diminishing returns the higher armor you get. meaning it'll be shit once you start wearing steel.

religion doesn't matter, you can eventually learn all of them. mitra is the choice for powergaming because it gives you access to regen (ambrosia) where yog is just food that doesn't spoil.

you want at least 15 encumbrance, helps a lot, i have 25 personally.

next you'll want vitality and grit. strength has hidden bonus of 1.5% player damage. aka pretty useless on vg serbs, would only invest on official server. i put at least 25 into vit, sometimes more. grit is also something you really only need if you're going to pvp a lot, allows you to either outrun your opponent or fight longer.

As long as you balance it between those 2(3) it's fine, but since you picked comfy and not a huge pvp serv i wouldn't care about agi or strength to be honest.

Shields are honestly best used for protection against ranged. They don't do anywhere near as much damage to a shield as a melee weapon, but a shield will do you good for a strike or two depending on what you and they have.

Spider's toxin spit don't do shit to shields. Always go shield first against them if you don't have a bow.

I don't think any wheel of pains matter, they're just for capacity. Lesser is 1, normal is 4 and greater is 8.

T1 doesn't take that long to break without a task master assigned to it.

Yeah. I'm trying not to get too burned out though until maybe after Funcom shows off what they have planned for PAX East next weekend.

I still hope some of their advanced city living plans come sooner rather than later. If there's one thing this game does for me it's the building and I'm dying to make a modestly sized city and have it be somewhat functional; unlike the one small settlement I've got building up on comfy server. Outside of my tower quarters the other buildings are largely just window dressing until the author of Generosity gets his shit working.

I just started playing on 185 this morning but been lurking on the discord from the start.

They've done fuckall, apparently. They've had and lost at least two decently-sized bases, and have routinely gotten their shit pushed in by normies that are NEETs of a level that laori and snek can only dream of. What is everyone's preference for combat? Sword, spear, two handed club, bow, crossbow? I was wondering how powerful ranged is. Is accuracy worth putting points in rather than strength?

accuracy is absolute garbage, same as strength

hyrkanian bow is pretty alright, crossbow is useless, primitive bow is good for cheesing some early xp but otherwise shitty

spears are neat and alright for kiting animals, warhammer is good early game but gets outclassed fast, knives are useless except for hides, throwing weapons do ok damage but can't be reused, and so swords are consistently the only things worth using 80% of the time

cimmerian battleaxe has the best dps currently, but has worse durability and worse damage per swing than the steel trident and longsword respectively

It's not very populated but if people don't join, it will never grow. It'd be nice to have you join us, you also don't need to worry about your shit being raided because player structures are indestructible. Still has PvP though. It's really nice. Increased XP is fantastic too, and everyone I've met is really nice. Overall it's a really small, laid back community. Come have fun with us.
