Two things. Once, her name is Corpse, basically. She has visual cues that make her seem corpse-like. She's pale, a brunette, wears black all the time. Two, she's a foil to Junko in that she's supposed to be plain looking. Her visual design literally accounts for the fact that the first time you see her, she's supposed to be blending into the background. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to make her a cartoony soldier that stands out.

I think he wouldn't deflect the topic of his parents with a grand lie if the truth wasn't painful/pathetic in some way or something that would threaten his image of an evil all powerful leader. the biggest thing about Mukuro that Western audiences just won't see is the ridiculousness of her name. It's Corpse Warsword, and it sounds just as ridiculous in Japanese as it does in English. When Kyoko does that whole "SIXTEENTH STUDENT HIDDEN IN THE SCHOOL" shtick 50 times, for a Japanese player it's to illustrate that "Mukuro" goes from a dangerous killer to a somewhat pitiable though I suppose not anymore person who was skewered. She's a dangerous person, a soldier, she kills people, she's even named Corpse! But then at the end of the game you realize that her name was a somewhat cruel joke, her role to be a corpse in Junko's more grand overarching story. The dichotomy of her name is something that I really feel was lost in translation.

You can kinda tell the difference between Kodaka's handling of Junko from the writers of DR3s handing of junko. Junko in V3's bonus mode when she's not switching personas from what I've seen is a lot more in line with how Ryoko was written but this time she has her memories and despair fetish

One thing I think DR does really well is it's portrayal of altruistic characters. For people like Twogami or Chihiro it was a weakness as far as surviving the game, but it's not treated as a character flaw because both of them would rather die than live their life any other way implicitly saying that they value their moral code over their own life.

A lot of time, it's just constantly whacked over the head in one direction. Either someone is super altruistic shounen hero and everything works out for him in the end, or you're a fucking idiot for helping other people and it's a dog eat dog world out there buckoo etc.

Ouma remarks about Amami having his Monopad in all of the photos and seemingly agrees with everyone else that the Monopad isn't important when they tell him they found nothing special.

Based on the clue he left that Gonta and the others saw in chapter 2 (Something about a horse) he most likely made his way to Amami's room during that time and since the puzzle was already solved in chapter 6 he would have seen Amami's video as well.

Did he say the Monopad was one of of them? I forgot, but it would prove that Kaede wasn't the one who kill Amami since only the mastermind would want to swipe the Monopad, replacing it with a copy to fool everyone else.

Agreed, the inconsistent art might lead us into making mistakes about our conclusions.
