shes also a good beginner character but guile might be a better alternative in that realm as far as charge characters go, its mainly about her walkspeed and buttons always being better while having less room for error due to health differences and doing less damage, ryu is a good middle ground in almost every aspect while having the tools the game is built around

You can make infinite justification of playing ryu as a beginner because he has a upper cut but then you can make the same for other character with the reasoning that they lack it so they have to develop an AA came and meter management with reversals and that giving them Ryu encourages DP mashing when they are blockign or on wake up and rely solely on it for AA's

Every single factor one can devise up as a reasons he's good for beginners can be used against him as well. Stop treating Ryu like a training wheels character. You know why other games star character shoto-likes are much funner then Ryu like Jago,or Sol Badguy? It's because their devs don't have to wrestle with their fan bases anal insistence on people viewing that character as a training wheels where one errant action can trigger them.

Ryu is who I use to show people how to do motions, footsies and the basics and then I kind of see how they play Ryu and suggest a character that fits the direction they want to go.

Some people need generic fundamentals man and some just go for Mika and become trash immediately but, I think Ryu is kind of a good place to start but I wouldn't keep anyone there for too long.

While I was testing that fake Mika vtrigger parry earlier it seemed to me like vskill was slower and harder to react with than EX command parry. She also gets a combo off of vskill with cr.LP though I don't know what all it leads into (hands?). I assume it also doesn't catch crossups very well, based on how it works. Personally haven't touched her really besides testing a setup or two though, so I can't say for sure on anything.

Al is a zoner. The way I use her, just keep the opponent out all day. If they get in, use Sakura as your assist to get the opponent while they're trying to fuck you up at close range. For your second assist, I recommend Franco. Easy to keep your opponent away when they are trying to approach or you can use it to easy extend a combo. Not sure how viable this strategy actually is, but it's gotten me a good amount of wins.
