Ele is great single target and aoe damage but very squishy,
thief is great single-target damage and less squishy,
warrior is needed for buffs and is quite tanky, ranger is needed for condition damage, and Druid is standard healer in raids
necro is less useful but still decent condi damage,

Because last time I checked, raids were excellent, fractals are good, PvP is thriving during seasons and the new maps are generally full of people running around, doing events and grouping together for the meta events.

You assumed wrong. It's permanent unless you fully salvage and destroy the piece of gear in question.

You have a chance of not getting the upgrade back either. The chance increases the higher level of salvage kit.


The only way to extract without destroying the gear is with a Upgrade Extractor from the gemstore.

You either destroy the gear to get the upgrade back or you add something on top of it

GW2 crafting was always shit. Cooking never needed to exist. Jeweler is irrelevant now. Armor and weapon crafting should have just been a means to fashion rather than a sink for thousands of gold in exchange for meme stats.

Even before ascended armor, crafting was mostly just regarded as how level tomes are now rather than something of real substance.

It's less of an issue of the meta "shifting" and more of an issue of the meta being forcefully uprooted and rearranged completely so that the expansion, and the grinding that goes with it, is required to be competitive.

Don't you think that it's a bit suspect that the new BiS stats are ONLY available through grinding away your life in the expansion?.. they could have just added those stat distributions to existing means of acquiring gear, they've done that before with dungeon rewards (Dire was a new stat that they made available through dungeons), and there's plenty of stat distributions that are just completely useless that they could have just simply replaced. Or you know, they could have just let you pick your major/minor stats, so that there could be at least one other stat distribution that has as much synergy with itself as Berserker or Vipers.

tl;dr: superior stats only available through expansion content grind
