What are you talking about? Poison is good at any level.
Unlike bleed which you can roll through, meaning only the instableed combos are useful as gimmicks and frost which is a joke since snap freeze, the best way to inflict, makes rolling through the damage proc even easier, you can't stop poison from affecting you, even if you try to use i-frames you dodge the damage but not the buildup.

Now you combine this with whips which have a rather faster and long ranged rolling r1 both 2h and 1h (most classes rolling attacks are only good in one of these) allowing you to be unpredicatable and their weapon art which hits multiple times at point blank or can be used against enemies farther safely because of it's huge phantom range, this makes whips one of the best classes to inflict poison (weapons with charge weapon arts are also good choices). Spotted whip happens to naturally have poison buildup for a little less AR so it's the best whip for this goal.

When you inflict poison, you force your opponent to play more aggressive, exactly what whip users want since you get to bait them into more and more whif punishes with rolling attacks.

You'd lose 100 base damage for 20 more durability, plus the Old Whip takes extra durability damage from armored enemies.

ornstein was an illusion, that's the only reason he went fuckhuge in the second phase of the fight. there is not a single other instance in any of the games of a character changing size, that wasn't instigated by some sort of corruption or mutation.

Quela (Izalis is her husband's name, per file names) is never shown in the game as anything other than a maggot, and her kids are human sized which throws her proportions out of whack in the trailer because humans are tiny.

gwyn's coffin was fuckhuge because a. it was a memorial b. gwyn's kingdom was ALL about comparing themselves to giants and creating an illusion of grandeur. They made every effort to make themselves out as gods, when realistically gwyn was a normal sized human who feared his mortality, and ended up dying an ashen hollow husk in the middle of a deserted wasteland.

Everyone knows the Gwynevere you see in DaS1 is an illusion you tonker. Jumping from that to "she's people sized and everything is fake" or even "she doesn't exist" is full headcanon retardation.

It's entirely plausible Gwyndolin exaggerated her size for effect, since even lying down it's pretty damn excessive, but every other piece of evidence regarding gods anywhere else in every game, including statues of her in her own city, indicates that they're some degree huge in the first place, and going "But Gwyn is 7 feet tall" ignores some of the only consistency Dark Souls has in its visual storytelling.

The expensive CGI intro with an omniscient narrator is an accurate glimpse of the Age of Ancients meant to give you some basis and context, people who lived in the same city and physically saw Gwyn on a regular basis had a good idea of his size when building statues and creating art, and Gwyn was once massive because he had a giant stash of souls, much like the human and knight characters that grow to be massive through gaining powerful souls, and the player gains physical power through gaining souls.

Gwyn was the lord, he had all the power, he CHOSE what was what, and he declared himself and his bloodline to be divine. this is monarchy 101 and happens in real life all the time.

I get it's hard to see when you have these self-declared lords throwing magic around, but the player character can use all this too. the player character can actively use the magic of the gods, long after they're dead. there's an entire plot point that faith and intelligence are functionally interchangeable, and it's actually an incredible sin to interchange them, because they are obscuring the fact the characters are casting "miracles" with their own strength and to challenge this flies directly in the face of the declared divinity of the lords.
