Someone in the /v/ thread brought an interesting idea for Project 2017's story

>Project 2017 will be Sonic: Days Of Future Past. I don't know exactly how it will play out but it wouldn't surprise me if it ends in a soft retcon where classic and modern Sonic avert the bad future timeline Eggman has created, but end up in a completely new one. Everything from after S3K has been wiped from the timeline but Eggman doesn't succeed in taking over the world either. From there onwards, Mania continues as its own side-series and the main series games start fresh after 2017, with a new all-3D gameplay style and few ties to former 3D Sonic titles.

The partner system was neat but kinda clunky feeling to me, and as a whole I'm not all that big on hub worlds in my Sonic unless there's a lot of shit in them instead of just being a more tedious level select. Route 99 also left me with a bad impression on the level design, but luckily the rest of the levels weren't as bad?

Advance 2 had bottomless pits everywhere so I guess it couldn't get that bad.

Every once in a while comics and comic arcs consisting of multiple comics get dumped here or on /v/. These sessions produce many memes and memorable experiences.
Legend tells of times where the entire comic has been dumped from beginning to end. Every issue. A process taking weeks. This "roller coaster ride" of autism and intensity is unmatched on any of the video game boards here.

Did anyone else used to get a feeling of profound desolation from the 8-bit Sonic's map screen? There was no "south island" backstory in the manual. Was this the only island on the planet? Was Robotnik the only human? Was Sonic the only other sapient lifeform? Who built all the constructions? Robotnik might have built the Scrap Brain zone, but the Labyrinth zone is like something a dead elder race would build. And if Robotnik's by himself then why build an entire empty city? These's only these two, utterly alone creatures fighting to the death surrounded by these constructions from a dead race.

Other things helped create the effect. The spareness of some of the levels: the endless expanse of sky in the Green Hill background that looks like the ending of The Quiet Earth. The way the mountains are looming closer in the Bridget zone. All those buildings in the background of the Scrap Brain zone with nobody in them. The silence when the end of zone music or map music would run out. I got the same feeling from a lot of the F Zero levels and from Ecco as well. It was a strange, unsettling feeling, bad and good at the same time. If I had a wish I'd wish I could go back and experience it again and also be Rouge and Amy's plaything.

Why don't we just leave things the way they are, and 2017 is just classic and modern teaming up again

The story is going to be after the events of generations, the two eggheads find that door they were looking for, and has either created another rift or created an alternate time line where Eggman has won. That would explain the giant death egg robots and cities being destroyed, Eggman has made a bad future so now Modarn and lil' Sanic have to destroy the robot generators and get the time stones.

In game the only chronological time line is based off an off hand comment by sonic in generations. Saying it's not so different from saving genies in magic lamps or aliens or whatever the line is. With that in mind, we can safely assume that secret rings, black knight, colors, and generations are all connected in a story. Egghead also describes what happened at the end of colors, so that's definitely a thing. I would be interested to see if they're going to turn mania Sanic in to 2017 Sanic, in the sense that things that happen in mania will have an affect on 2017. Maybe at the end sonic finds a time portal or some shit that kicks off 2017, who knows.

Tl;dr Izuka seems to have learned that people don't want wacky taffy tier story lines, and just want things to be a straight line. The only inconsistent thing in an otherwise chronological story is lost world, which sucked, and izuka knew it sucked, so probably just gonna let that one go.

Ive been thinking about Aaron and the community lately.

From meeting Aaron and listening to him in interviews and such, I kind of think he doesn't really like what he does that much. It just seems to me that everyone only talks to him about Sonic, sonic this sonic that, you're the twitter guy, people don't see him as a person. Even I'm guilty of this, before I met him I saw him as some kind of deity but actually talking to him made me realize he's just a regular dude doing a job. He left Sega after generations because he said he wanted to do something to inspire youth and do some things that had actual purpose. I think on one hand he has a passion for Sonic but on the other hand he wants to do something with his life to really help people and not just shit post. Maybe I'm wrong, but just from all the things he says and things he does it makes me actually wonder if he feels like he could/should be doing something else.

Even when he left Sega, they asked him to come back later, he didn't go back to them. I honestly think he probably would have kept doing what he was doing if they didn't offer him brand manager position. Only a fool would have passed on that, but the more I listen to him the more I think he wishes he was doing something else.
