No this is not at fucking all how it works. The armor system is completely broken so you can beat a guy to death with an axe, and the most dangerous part of axes in the game is actually the blunt head of the axe you thrust with, and not the blade itself. The whole game is fucked and the only good thing about it was the customization. None of the pros even wear armor, they abandon it for peasant rags which are 100% superior.

Speed that's why. Armor in WOTR does jack shit honestly, it's worse than in warband. Not only does it make you swing slower than a fucking crane, but it also doesn't really make you any more durable. It allows you to tank more arrows, but somebody with a sword will probably kill you just as fast because of how slow you are to block. Plus plate armor doesn't even protect against slashes- I can cut clean through it often enough by using a hollow sword. Which can't block without breaking for too long, but I can kill people. Plus you get your sword back after you bandage yourself, so if I kill a knight with a hollow grooved blade by slicing clean through is armor, break during a block- I just get the sword back in five seconds of duct tape.

The only real weakness of peasant rags is that fucking arrows will insta kill you if they clip you. But unless you're shit at blocking they're objectively superior in every way. And if shit hits the fan you run faster than everybody in armor to boot, allowing you to disengage and harass the enemy.

speed directly correlated with damage, which meant in the lightest gear you could instakill with almost any weapon including daggers

I just read through the noob guide, how much better at taking castles are the Nords than the Swadians? I really like the Swadian idea of a heavy knight that gets supported by other troops and just crashes into enemy lines, but cavalry is pretty much garbage at taking castles right? I don't wanna take both because of the morale penalty.

It's not logical because there is literally no point to wearing armor. Two equally skilled players, one in armor and the other in light gear will end with the light gear player almost always winning. Heavy armor only wins when fighting inferior opponents, not equals or superiors.

It used to be so, soooo much better before though, and that's the kicker. The game was fun as shit before they patched it into shittyness. Knights for example were tanks who took a ridiculous amount of hits to kill and armor would often glance everything off it. But in turn the vision in helmets was terrible so you could barely see what you were swinging at, let alone block. A knight with a greatsword wearing a frogmouth helmet was basically a ponderously moving tornado of blades sawing everything he ran into in half until a crossbowman shot him in the eye.

if you're in plate and can parry then it's prudent for you to close in to someone wearing light
whereas if you're in light it's optimal to attack and parry as infrequent as possible so you can build up momentum and stay at range

150 isn't really much even for mercs, I've taken similarly manned fiefs with less men with few casualties because of the INT memebuild.

It died because some of us payed 50 dollars for it, then it was made free to play, and we didn't get anything, and was told to spend another 50 dollars on gold to get the contend we thought we already bought.

So a big fuck you to the people who were really interested, so they could get in some people who only wanted to play F2P and then was met by a terribly optimised game with a grind for essential gameplay.

For honor runs at 60 fps all the time, and grind is not for gameplay but small stat differences and appearance, not new weapons and classes.
Also ubisoft servers are better than WOTR was.

Sargeants are shit in sieges though because they have low reach and most of the time they knock out enemies, which sucks for a large siege. I generally like Sargeants though, especially in the field as the grind up enemy and pump out prisoners hammer, but general sieges it's a waste of time. Also if you're not devoted to Rhodoks, your hillbilly tribesmen are always better off being developed as sharpshooters.

Yeah, it's bad because it's just not fun. Getting into the thick of the fight in mb is the most fun you can have, but then what happens when you get mobbed and knocked out? Instantly take big casualties.
Maybe the fights not over yet, but now you start the next fight with less men and very little health. Your only option now is to sit in the back and command, and not engage the enemy.

You might want to go join the siege brawl, but getting knocked out could ruin everything and make you start again. Battle Continuation let's the player play, and doesn't punish them for something that the other lords/commanders don't have to worry about.

Later versions of Native that fixed the whole downward spiral of feasts, Swadia usually holds its own. I'll often see them either capture even Yalen or Veluca from the hillbillies, or if the Nords are stretched fighting Vaegirs, they'll push up into Tihr and Sargoth. Of course every game is different, and it depends on how strong the lord relationships within the factions are.

I remember this one game where I wasn't getting involved with the wars, wanted to see how a merchant/slaver game would go (no politics), and after a few months it was wierd; basically everyone had different borders than default, but generally everyone had the same net fiefs almost. The Khergits moved north into Khudan, the Vaegirs northwest into Wercheg, Nords southwest into Praven, Swadians south into Veluca, Rhodoks early on took Shariz, then went northwest and took Haringhoth Castle, and the Sarranids took Halmar from the Khergits. And somehow Swadian dominion over the Dhirim plateau region remained solid, so they were actually stronger, although more landlocked (not that it matters in native). Crazy times.

Also another thing that was added to Dickplomacy, was Refugee parties; whenver a village is looted, a fairly large (30-50+) party of mostly peasant women spawn near the village and flee to the nearest walled friendly settlement (behave something like routed enemy parties). So that helps rounding up "assets" for your "legitimate business enterprises".

It doesnt work with companions, you need regular unit types. Just talk to the prisoners in camp and you will see an option to do various things to them. One should be something like 'my men are going to fuck you' or somesuch

You can do this to captured lords as well

So I wasted a year or more playing M&B:VC cause a 'friend' told me it was the most superior. Going to start playing WB now, please tells me it's less broken than VC. Also, is the starting portion as difficult as VC, as in you'll spend days before you can recruit people other than mercs from taverns and have to run from almost every enemy on the map while taking forever to get some coin.

I got gud after a while of getting rekd, but the start is such a fucking grind. Trying to raise your rep with villages/forts/etc. is a pain cause you can only do a quest for each one every 20 days or so and half the time the quest they want you to do is above your level or income (getting cattle).

just give a bribe to the village elder and he will let you recruit, also kings give the easy destroy bandit lair quest that gives a lot of relation points, and you can immediately ask them to allow recruitment and they will agree you get like +20 or something relations with them, early source of troops is also monasteries, farmsteads and prisoners, its pretty easy to gather a decent warband, make sure to get companions too, with some positioning and micro skills a low tier warband should be able to fuck up vikingr and thats when you get good gear and loads of money, some of the dungeons/locations are also pretty easy and give decent rewards, in about a months time with these advices you can have a good warband and be firmly on your own feet. And thats without doing any trade at all, which will make you even more insanely rich

dickplomacy is fairly straightforward, it doesn't add all that much so its pretty easy to figure out

ad1257 - huge distances mean that certain quests that are useless in native and most modules are actually really good in this mod, mostly deliver wine/ale and escort caravan, they are easy as fuck, and give an enormous reward, so they are good for both experience and gold early on, tournaments are also entered with your own gear which means that they are easy as fuck as long as you have any kind of armour piercing weapon, so you can get a shitload of money that way too. Also, top tier armour in this mod makes you practically immune to swords and weaker enemies, and this works the other way around too, don't expect to kill a knight with a slash of a sword if you have less than 5-6 PS, you need to thrust, or just get an axe, or a mace, or a hammer
