I assume you forgot the picture and this is the one you use, are you placing the lava first? the water needs to be flowing into that hole and if the lava does it will make cobble under allowing the water to touch the lava. or just keep the lava raised a block above the water so there's no chance of obsidian

Since the lava and water make contact on a different y level from their sources, there's less risk of leakage. Plus, it looks like a giant stone donger if you leave it on for a long time.

I've refreshed a secrets on Trainserb for anyone that wanted to see them but never got the chance. Someone actually is living in the one in a swamp which is neat. This one is out in a desert to the south, hard to miss really. The spawn secret is back in order too.

Plans for the Evil Mage modpack I'm "making":

Main content mods are Blood Magic, Ars Magica 2 and Evil Craft.
Reliquary might be added for trinkets and shit.
Baubles might be added if Reliquary has support for it.
Random Things will be added for Blood Moons.
Structure gen mods are a no-go because Recurrent Complex and Ruins do not have that many functional buildings, and Chocolate Quest contributes to lag.

Lycanites Mobs seem to fit the theme, but the high-poly models are putting me off. I could add Hostile Mobs and Girls as an alternative.

That's basically it. Ideas from players who are used to playing modpacks that have darker concepts are welcome.

The thing is, the tree rarely spawns and is usually no where near anything that could set it ablaze. But if you have mods like that weather mod that causes lightning to strike things more often, chances are, it'll get hit and then rip world.

Protip: add your fuel to that second slot, it'll take it one piece at a time as needed instead of eating the whole stack. When you're done with the engine just take whatever is left out and it's only finish burning that last fuel you gave it.

Well, I don't mind it (the player is supposed to be an excommunicated magic practitioner), but hell if I needed villagers.

Worst thing is that there are no cows spawning, and normal nighttime spawns seem barren after not using Special Mobs for this modpack.

Does anybody recall the name of a very old Minecraft server? Here are some details I recall:

* Was almost 100% vanilla, only ever some minor plugins
* At least 4 years old at this point
* Died out some years ago, could possibly have been rebooted since then
* The world was reset on a somewhat annual basis, players were always encouraged to patch up creeper holes and to never leave a tree uncut
* Teleports were time limited, I believe you could only /spawn once per hour
* There were sometimes events, held in a room or arena with admins that would store your items for later
* The spirit was always vanilla minecraft, major modification to the core game was frowned upon
* This would've been way before full release, though I know it was well out of alpha too. Somewhen during beta.
* Joining was whitelist only
* There were established towns and lore, an economy, and a great sense of community

Same thing for npcs, if you want quests and shit, you have to use customnpcs to do it yourself.
If you want minecraft to be an rpg, you have to make it one yourself.

I think Forge stifled Minecraft completely. Coremods are a pain in the ass to make, so the truly creative people just don't make them. It was so much more fun to mod when Forge used the MCP build system and we could edit any class we wanted and make crazy shit. If there was a compatibility problem with another mod, either you didn't use that mod, or the authors could work it out.

Now it's impossible to know when coremods conflict and modding has never been more boring. Bleh.

Still on the early game of the Evil Mage modpack I made. Shitty world seed with a false reading on the nearest village meant making bookshelves by hand and finding passives hell. I'm literally relying on a patch of wheat and one fucking chicken right now.

Both AM2 and Blood Magic are also farming-intensive (items for AM2 and mobs for BM), so I had to add Loot Bags to simulate miles and miles of wandering through structures that don't exist, and Soul Shards: the Old Ways to simulate spawners that I had to manually produce.

You could automate the MCP build with Ant, most of the big mods did.

All you had to do pre-Gradle was edit a base class and you had a mod. It didn't have to be pretty, it just had to work. Post-Gradle is hours of bytecode manipulation.

You can still do the pre-Gradle route of editing a base class, as long as you don't want to use Forge.

The reason the base class method is forbidden now is because Mojang's signatures are verified on load, and you need to specify a special VM option to prevent that from happening. (Also, two base class edits done without ASM conflict instantly! This is the whole reason we have coremods in the first place.)

Interesting, looks like I can launch a tiny modpack with 10 mods on 1.10 without it taking 10 years to load up, and even make a world after adding FoamFix. I couldn't say the same for 1.8.9. Turning VBOs on leads to this though so maybe I should avoid that.

Witchery is still, and will always be, my ideal magic mod. Potion brewing's component system is amazing, the ritual circles feel magical, and 'infusing' yourself so that you can finally use spells feels like a powerful moment... Until you actually try to use spells. I wish wands could be infused with potions so that you can use a wand to have the potion effect zap the target/user or whatever, though.

TC is pretty damn steampunk/magitechpunk, both in asthetic and in feel.

You have to worry about how much of the various energies you have coming from your nodes, and have those little crystal nodes hanging around the place to shoot lasers through, and use that to fuel certain things. Like, for example, pumping ignis into a furnace makes it burn. That's literally a powered furnace. The infusion 'rituals' that TC has is more about figuring out the logistics, and making sure you have piping systems so that you can pump essence into the item, etc.

It feels like you're building machines, not like you're doing magic.

I played TC before jar golems were even in. I always ended up saying 'fuck the pipes' and just dragging entire jars out to the altar to infuse shit. But I haven't played it a lot since 1.9.4, so I don't know the new meta. But that's because I hate the research system. Both of them, the new and the old.

But just because 'nobody uses X' doesn't mean that it isn't in the mod.

Anyway, I concede the point- Thaumcraft isn't a tech mod. It doesn't have many of the features people assume when you say 'tech mod', and isn't focused on a 'generate power > transport power > machine' scheme.

I literally plop any decent node with complex aspect near the table, energize and it's enough to stop worrying about running around charging my wand to craft. Bloating the node may marginally reduce the wait time between crafting in bulk but that's about it so whatever. Then maybe either lead CV to furnace\mirror or grab another node for a dedicated room. That's literally the entire extent of the whole thing you're trying to pose as an equivalent to TE\EIO\RoC\IE\Whatever which are in actuality ENTIRELY reliant on generating power to sustain almost ENTIRETY of their content whereas it's less then 10% of vanilla TC, maybe a bit more with all the Automagy doodads if you count addons

I think you could make 7 mini bosses or mini games in rooms representing the 7 sins OR make a single gloomy path full of war, disease, famine and death deep underground that leads to a small garden with a window to the surface so it seems like a rainbow in the dark, which I think itll fit your Castlevania theme (havent played much Castlevania but I think I get the idea).

Have you ever played TF2? This is basically a reconstruction of Coldfront but with some modifications but the point is that its basically the same. So this place used to be yet another shell company where missiles and similar weaponry capable of destroying entire cities were waiting for their time to be deployed, but the place lost its purpose as there was no need to deploy those weapons anymore so it became a place to store the most dangerous weaponry like chemical explosives or more complex weapons of mass destructions like antimatter or antigravitational missiles and also the classical recreational nukes (tm).

But if theres ever again the possibility to obliterate entire cities or countries this base still has his equipment, just sleep waiting for the day to be awoken.

Mods need to get noticed before they become popular. There are many mods i don't see talked hear often enough.

The benefits of Doo Cities is it removes all the trivial survival needs of a player once its setup and its tier and market system allows cash to buy better goods as you upgrade. It not just a machine system, but little helper blocks that need food and resources, which then can adapt coin punches to pay the (((player))) for stuff. Another unique trait is they work on the chunk grid so the world starts to shape into the mods needs and things build.

frankly you shouldn't use BoP because its bloated to fuck. But you'll want CC/BT for RTG so you can turn down how many FUCKING tundras and extreme hills biomes spawn with just RTG.
