As a note, since the shotgun nerfs if you can aim down sight with them, do so. Shotguns aren't as good at hipfire as they used to be but it's still usable, just not as good as before.

I would say depending on what you want stick with free barrage, or get the nighthawk or one of the pump shotguns.

I heard that the way meme-points worked, was that is was significantly more efficient to combo them into chargers than leave them as implants for the transfer. I was hoping it was only low tier / duplicates that were going to get translated to meme points though, not rank 3 & 4's. I thought those had analogues in the new system. I'll be playing a little bit past the new implants to see if they're really as bad as they look and sound like they will be.

So far DBG's development team and the way they respond to the players for not liking the shit plate being served to them, really makes me think this game doesn't have much life left to it. This is probably the turning point where the chance to save the game goes from "possible" to "not in your life".

They've yet to add any genuinely great content since reforming from SOE. It's been a host of tweaks and twaddles - some good and some bad - plus some very short-sighted and retarded content additions. I sure as HELL wouldn't subscribe to this game. I don't reward incompetence.

So, I bought $50,000 worth of implant packs on PTS to get an idea for drop rates. They've got it divided into two packs, a $2 pack with 3 implants, and a $5 pack with 9 implants, so $0.66 or $0.55 each; for this test I got the $5 ones, so this should be at maximum efficiency. No idea about cert costs, since everything's 1 cert on PTS.

Anyway, they've got the implants divided into 3 tiers:
Common - 1366/9000, or 15%, or 1/6.6 drop rate
- Ammo Printer
- Focus
- Regen
- Safe Fall
- Safeguard
- Sweeper HUD
Uncommon - 200/9000, or 2.2%, or ~1/45 drop rate
- Assimilate
- Battle Hardened
- Catlike
- Vampire
Rare - 5/9000, or 0.055%, or -- I suspect it's actually 1/2000 and I got very slightly lucky
- Counter-Intelligence
- Minor Cloak

With this, we can calculate that, to get a specific implant, it'll cost an average of:
- Common: $3.63
- Uncommon: $24.75
- Rare: $1100

Now, ISO-4: After breaking down all the duplicates, I netted 232,355 ISO-4. This makes each unit of ISO-4 worth about $0.215...

Counter-intel should be paired either with marker or with sensor shield (which apparently no longer exists???)

It's pointless to pair it with awareness. Awareness isn't useful for anything but maxes and even then only because most other implants don't matter for maxes, so you might as well make the best of your hitpoint pool and autospot everyone shooting you.

I have no reason to believe that there's any way to get ISO-4 except by paying smedshekels or certs for implant packs, then breaking them down. The only exception is that current implants and chargers are getting deconstructed into ISO-4 when it goes live, but DBG probably hasn't decided on the exact rates yet; currently it's 10/50/250/1250 for T1-4 implants, and chargers are completely retarded at 5/250/1250 for T1/2/3 chargers.

Here's what I've got for my autism sheet so far. Those higher-tier upgrade costs are absolutely fucking absurd if they don't fiddle with the ISO-4 conversion ratios.

Coincidentally(?), it works out so dropping a grand on implant packs will, on average, get you 2 of the rare implants, and breaking down all the trash from doing so will give you just enough ISO-4 (+/- $20 worth or something) to upgrade all the other implants to T4.

How to fix decoy grenades:
Give infils 2 of them by default
When thrown the decoy grenade acts as a recon dart for 20 seconds so you can see around it (without showing the dart effect to the enemy)
Still functions as a decoy

This would make them actually useful. You'd be able to see whoever fell for the bait, and you'd have enough time to actually get over to fight them.

How to fix healing grenades:
Give medics 2 of them by default
Increase duration to 12 or 15 seconds
Have them explode on contact instead of bouncing

Makes them more useful in point holds/stress situations and lasts long enough to be relevant throughout

How to fix smoke grenades:
Give 2 of them by default
Create an invisible collision bubble around the smoke so people can't spot through it
Increase the duration to 30 seconds

Longer duration gives you a reason to use them over the under-barrel launcher version that can be replenished on ammopacks, collision bubble fixes the problem with people being spotted through smoke.

So, after looking at the implant system, it's becoming increasingly clear that this game is dead. This isn't the final nail in the coffin, but it IS the deathblow. Implants are the last squeeze before it gets shut down - these implants are increasing the skill gap even between vets, and especially between vets and new players. That's going to affect not just new player retention, but average/vet retention as well.

Meanwhile all the serious gameplay/balance issues aren't being looked at, or will get even worse with the addition of these implants.

This is a short-term cash grab with no consideration for the long-term prospects of the game. Given the poor server performance, hiring a literal-who youtuber, general incompetence in monetization and - well everything really; this game doesn't have much longer to go. It's been 5 years and these guys STILL don't have a viable long-term monetization plan to keep the lights running without fucking up the game.

They've thrown in the towel; we're going full pay-to-win now.

It was fun while it lasted, I guess.

Coming back to this game after a couple of years, it's hard to believe I ever took it seriously or cared about stats. There are a million bullshit ways to die (I mean, don't get me wrong, that's part of the fun), so thinking that you should strive to maintain a high kdr or anything like that is like saying that you'll get rich if you work hard. Really, there's more to it than that, and you probably owe most of your success to factors outside of your control than you do to yourself, assuming you get it at all.
