Forgive me if I'm wrong here, but AFAIK shells could not gain bonuses from Crits, weakness exploit, or sharpness ( though it's always good to have sharpness ), so by using the Silvesol with GL aren't you just using a weaker and less mobile lance then? I'd figure GL would want ether G+2 or E+2, Art. Expert, and then something that works well with it's shelling like Partbreaker or Airborne if going Aerial GL given those directly boost the shelling's effects. Otherwise why use GL over Lance?

Every single one of those points becomes pointless when you progress far enough to make shells deal shit damage like they always do. GL simply will never be good until they make shells scale or add new levels or something.

From the description I thought this shit was like a shittier adrenaline but it works from even chip damage and gives the equivalent of attack up L that stacks with attack up. Seems pretty good when you can't think of anything else to add. I slapped it on with the dreadking set and tigrex hammer. All the core skills a hammer wants are covered with only the armor by itself already. Better than the only other halfway decent thing I could think of to add, marathon runner, and dash juice makes that worthless. Not that stamina is even a huge concern for a hammer anyway, it's manageable without any aid.

Who wouldn't take them? The game is Monster Hunter, not Hunter Gatherer. Hell, I'd even prefer that every consumable be a permanent item that has a set number of uses each time you go out on a quest. So it never runs out, it just runs out for that specific hunt. Scarcity of consumables is never an issue for anyone, freebies or no. It's just a maintenance process you have to remember to set again every 10 hunts.

To the person asking last thread how much of a difference load up makes for teo bow:

I'm not gonna show all my work since that would make this post too long, but the trueshot only set would deal (with crit distance, kitchen AUL+booster, power items, no might seed/pill, powercoat lvl 2) 72+24+18+12 (total 126) on the regular shot and 86+28+21+14 (total 149) on the power shot. Grand total damage for that "combo" is 275 (or roughly 5.5% of a high rank rathian's health).

Adding load up, the powershot becomes a level 4 and rapid 5. Now the first shot is the same, but the second shot has a 1.7 instead of a 1.5 multiplier on charge level and 1 more mv (the final arrow is a 3 instead of a 2). The powershot's final damage is 98+32+24+24 (178, an actual 19% increase). Total "combo" strength is 304, a 10% boost and about 6% of a rathian.

So don't trust people who tell you bow is literally useless without load up or something. There's been one really butthurt shitposter over the last few days who also seems to think teo bow's blast is the main thing that makes it the #1 bow who does not understand that skills required for the best possible times are not the same as skills required for decent times.

Avoid gen, and as a first-timer avoid 3U (its "tutorial" takes several hours, earlygame is really tedious and turns most people that start with it off of the series). Gen is getting a better version (in japanese, probably later in english) in under a month, and isn't really indicative of the feel of literally the rest of the series. I would most recommend 4U. Gives you more info on things like weapon mechanics, even has (completely optional) tutorials for each weapon (granted some of these aren't the best) and gets you into the actual game and fighting large monsters pretty fast, plus it's the most recent game with a lot of content and it runs at 60 fps.
