My largest naturally occuring campaign battle yet. Some 6000 Empire and Hochland units face off in the bloodiest civil war I'd ever seen. The confederation that Hochland had become had become too powerful, and in an effort to break a siege they sallied forth into an open field where we clashed. My well protected Sunmaker Helstorm rocket battery amassed some 600 kills, especially with a buff banner that provided additional fire damage. Hochland ceased to be shortly after.

At 100% ward save the unit wouldn't take damage from any source.
At 100% physical magic would still hurt.

I don't know if fire counts as magic or physical or neither. It's pretty rare anyway.

It's just a flat XYZ% chance to negate any damage that actually connects. A 50% ward save means that 50% of damage taken by your character never actually happens, so someone with 10,000HP would mathematically have the equivalent of 15,000HP as a result.

That 20% Ward Save talisman is the best item in the game because having it equipped negates one in five damage instances.

They have Ward saves, but it doesn't translate the Tabletop "Ward save" definition

in Total Warhammer, Ward save of 20% means 20% of the damage is blocked, a unit which takes 100 HP of damage, will take 80 instead because of it's Ward save (same with physical and magic resistances)

Big problem with Conquer Anywhere is the thing which makes Wood Elf AI so fucking aggressive. The moment the AI can wage war on a faction without having to deal with constant backsteps to replenish units it gains a massive war boner.

It tends to make the late game an absolute bore if you're playing a minor faction. Imagine the Badlands Bowl except this one is free entrance for everyone

I was using lightning bolt on stationary infantry.

But I bring offensive spells according to how i'm going to play or who i'm facing. Wind blast is better against lighter infantry, while thunderbolt is better against heavy armored infantry. Comet takes a long time to come down and is easily avoided so its only use is in the middle of a blob in melee especially if they're caught in a pocket.

Easy way to deal with Marienburg's starting army is to put an army of your own outside the thin chokepoint to the west a bit of Eilhart and put them on Ambush stance. Marienburg will be tempted by the "undefended" Eilhart and spring your trap. It's very consistent.

It was a win but a pyrrhic one, the Heros and Spawn just fucked my sword line up so quickly it got pretty sloppy

Crossbows didn't kill anything, the cavalry did good work
