He is arrogant only when the Inquisitor is an asshole with him and even then he has all the reasons to be so, since he knows the current world shouldn't work the way it works.

And Solas is the most unsubtle character in the game: he dresses like a hobo, just drop some hints here and there but never gets discovered, manages to convince everyone that he is just a wandering elf who likes to sleep. I found Darkspawn Chronicles a blast, you get to see the blight through a Darkspawns eyes and play in an alternate world where the MC dies at the joining. For the story, lore and meta it was a blast.

it's mostly non canon stuff but that's the fun of reading the codex entries of what Alistair does by himself. In irony he commits to a lot of actions that he would disprove of the MC doing. Some of it is subtle without codex entries just simply something that unfolds while you are playing.
Official lore it adds is just showing how the Archdemon communicates to higher Darkspawn as well as how these higher Darkspawn control the horde.
