We lost that opportunity when they started making alternate playstyles for classes that go completely against what they're normally doing.

Demoknight is a prime example; The 10th class could've been a melee combatant of some sort. No need to worry about Grenade Man using free passive resistances and easy get-out-of-jail-free cards, or Sticky Man running around at 102% movement speed. It'd be way easier to balance. And the best part would be it'd let Pyro hard-counter something.

But no. Instead we get a suboptimal "subclass".

I tossed them a few ideas about, Medic's MvM übershield. A two headed Medigun that can heal 2 targets at once, and deploys a shield infront of Medic without changing heal rate or anything. In return Medigun's reach can be short which will be hard to practice if people stray away.
And Scouts under the effects of Bonk duration can see Sniper lasersight lines like Mecha Snipers aiming at you.
I also suggested Heavy gets a small secondary artifact that allows Medic to revive him on the spot at the cost of übercharge.
All look nice on paper, but if b4nny gets involved I assume I'll see none of these features. Because involving a comp player means we'll get no new shit at all, cuz "weapon balances".
