Greetings fellow stalkers! I have been playing CoM for a while now and I have a reverse bounty hunt from when I first got to bar that was a mono up at the radar base. Well it took a decent amount of time to disable the miracle machine and get my psy protection to actually get to kill this guy and now I cant seem to talk to the stalker since he isnt the leader of the squad, so do I have to wait for one of his squad mates to die to talk to him? Its been a week or two in game and they havent come back to the bar. I know the groups wander around, but I'm not 100% sure how a-life works to get him to come back to finish the mission. If it wasnt for turning everyone hostile I would just kill him to get it out of my mission list.

Whats the quickest way to get a sniper rifle in CoM?

I started as an ecofag and already got Heavy Pockets achievement just 9 days into the game (farming all those Monolith fags with just a worn spas12 at the NPP yields shitton of cash).

I've gone all the way to Cordon and back and the only sniper I can find are Worn/Rusty Dragunovs sold by Owl and the Merc dude at dead city but literally nobody sells them with scopes or even the scopes
themselves.

I knew about the outfit addon, I just thought it was part of it by default. I'll go for the basic seva then. If the battery drain isnt terrible then I'll just plan ahead. I take a good couple hours in game time to make sure I have everything for the underground labs. I've found its better to be over prepared than under-prepared for those places. I mean agroprom underground is about the only "easy" section and thats only if you know what entrance to take.

In my opinion, NATO weapons with a scope are better than sniper rifles anyways. Doesnt hit as hard and it doesnt zoom in as far, but you get a 30 round clip and semi-auto fire. That really helps when mulitple people are attacking at once, but on the other hand I'm pretty sure the SVT is a good middle ground between assault and sniper weapons. It has a 20 round clip of sniper rounds and if you can get a modern one, they make excellent semi-auto rifles.

I've been using an sg550 with ACOG and AP rounds for most of my gameplay and it does drop exofags with just a burst or two but I need something for when I want to ambush large parties and have to dispatch all them before they can get around and shoot me in the ass.

Good long range weapons are nothing compared to a good shotgun and patience. I like my ranged weapons to be able to take multiple shots from where ever before the enemy knows I'm there. That is my only reason for liking assault rifles over sniper rifles. Shotguns will win every time if you have the patience to wait out your enemy. The only times shottys are at a disatvantage is in a large open areas like the outside of CPP, The stadium, jupiter, zaton, etc. Thats why I carry both depending on where I am at.

Northish (red forest and beyond) = NATO
Southish (bar and south) = Soviet/Pretty much AKs only

Always carry a shotgun.

most dutyers (the frontline soldiers) probably joined Duty not because they hate the zone but because they don't want to see a loner lose his friend to a bandit scum or to a chimera that a freedumb turned a blind eye to because "it hurts the zone"

If anything the zone is a place for people who have no place in the normal world they need a place of constant warfare and Duty is most likely the faction that sees most fighting after all Rostok is surrounded by bandits mercs and freedomers (and monolith if you head far north)

Depends on what you are looking for.

Duty has pretty good anti combat but they are ok against anomalies and radiation

Ecologistst are strictly anti rad and anomalies, shit combat stats.

Stalkers have a little of both, but more combat.

Freedom also has a bit of both but more rad and anomaly.

CS is a cross between Stalkers and Freedom only a little better on both sides, but not as good in either.

Military stuff, while being rare is the best anti combat in the zone, good luck finding to though. It's usually in really late game places. (Pripyat or later)

Mono stuff, in my opionion, is the rarest and least worthwhile. They give pretty good combat, rad, and anomaly protection. Slightly less than military (combat) and CS (anom/rad). They offer Zero psy protection, due to the monolith I'm assuming.

Merc stuff is like higher quality stalker stuff, only super rare and pretty much limited to merc playthroughs. I don't know how to get it as a loner.

This is all I know about armor types, short of cheating and creating your own armor.

No, I feel like I understood your post just fine its just that the Zone doesn't care. I've also seen a monolith squadmate spawn with the nade launcher, but I got glitched out and died as an ironman so I didn't have time to find out if he's good with it or not. Is giving your NPCs explosive weapons good or bad?

It won't affect their shooting but can affect their effectiveness. I typically give one of my guys a spare LMG or Dragunov or whatever just because they get infinite ammo and even if it takes them a while they'll be able to hit eventually.

Explosives are typically a bad idea unless you want to get blown up a lot.

Shotguns end up going in only to be gunned down, that being said, an exo/heavy armor with a shotgun with a high rate of fire is scary, but only if they can get close range.
Normal stalkers are your own preference. Give them the broken NATO weapons that arent worth repairing, will definitly let them live longer. I like to recruit exo/radiation/seva suit because they are stupidly bullet spongy, even to other stalkers. Althought you have to watch out for melee attacks, those will still fuck a stalker up.
Low end stalkers actually benefit from sniper rifles only because they will actaully attempt to sneak up one their target to 1-shot them. Usually the guys in leather will be sneakier than the stalker suit or above.
Also Idk if it was a mod or not but one of the later versions of CoC allowed me to trade with companions freely, so i gave my exo merc a PKM and my rookie stalker an SVD and they were easily some of the best back up I've seen in a stalker game. They shredded normal stalkers but they lacked any sort of mutant fighting, I guess that's where I came in.
On a side note about freely trading with companion stalkers, which again I'm not sure about, its a good idea to have at least 2 stalkers with you. One for loot, one for a mobile stash. Protect your mobile stash for all its worth. The other guy? Well money comes and goes in the Zone, and he might just bite a bullet at some point.

Sweet jesus. I just went through X-19 in CoM with campfire saves on. Had a RPK and Spas both with the first tier upgrades. Stalker suit with the weight upgrades (lighter and carryweight) and a combat helm with all upgrades besides any nightvision. That shit was so fucking nerve wracking. If I died I had to do all of it again, since there wasnt a way to save in the lab. Burnt through all my shotgun shells and all my AK ammo and had to switch to a half health SIG Sniper that I found. I made it after a couple tries but I havent had that much fun in a while. I caught one burst from a Tunder (Cant remember the real name) and it shredded my suit and helm to about half health, popped a science stim, army medkit, then another military stim to slow the bleeding, then stop it, then to actaully heal. I'm looking at some pretty hefty repairs but I have a couple hundred Kilos worth of loot and guns that I'm going to have to make a couple trips for, all in all totally fucking worth it. Excellent Stalker adventure.

So how many hours of sleep do i need with "Sleep Deprivation" on?

just slept straight 12 hours to get rid of the effect and then another 9 after it got dark 3 hours later.

Been awake for only 5 and I still get that out-of-focus and the dizzy like effects that I'd only get after not sleeping for 3 days straight on the original Memery playing as a Sniper.

Also only been eating bread crumbs and imported bread. No unhealthy/mutant shit.

Smaller calibre weapons, best bet is a 9x18/19 pistol, even .45 is usually lethal. Also dont use AP/AT ammo, the default should be enough. Dont aim for the head, even the chest is risky. Limb shots are the best bet, I usually go for the legs and feet. May take a couple tries. Good luck, that mission sucks, usually isnt worth anything but the reputation and thats iffy.

some you can if you know the model name and add it to system.ltx

when that menu opens, just hit whichever key you have your inventory assigned to, to close it and you should be holding the body ready to drag it.
might take a few tries as sometimes you immediately drop it, but you can usually tell from the body changing the position it was in originally.

Yep. I'm carefully making as many mods toggable via modifier as possible.

I found in one of the repos a helmet mod for soc, it's pretty straight forward and easy to merge. Just have to make sure that the modifier installs files correctly.

I'll have a look at the OA icons, though I like CoC's do fit nicely with the SoC/CoP defaults, I feel.

If you uninstall the BBB mod, the icon equipment texture is replaced with one that has the SOC icons (I also prefer those, but they just don't work with the interchangable headgear).

As for the Nugget, I know many people love it, but I was never a fan of either its inclussion or the way the mesh looks.

The build AKM is pretty clunky too, so I wont include it. You can see in the bottom left the an AKMS.

It's vanilla jank quality, made out of the body of the AK74, with the wooden furnish and magazine of the AK74U (people looking for quaility textures/models should not even bother with my mod)


The mod is about 200mb of data right now. I'll clean it from unneeded textures to reduce it somewhat.


I'll also release companion db files with optional texture and mesh replacements (beta weapons with bumpmaps, fixed uv-mapping and vertex weighting issues of vanilla npcs, some old russian textures of world items).

Weight should only mess with actor.ltx/system.ltx (can't remember if its the same exact with SoC. I haven't played it in a long time), traders should only be touching trader files and nothing else (unless it modifies item prices in their files.) that blowout mod I'm not sure, but shouldn't conflict with either of the two, and atlas spawn menu I have zero clue about.

In any case, it seems like anything can be thrown in at any time.

There's a mod like that I got off Ap-pro that has general trader files, like mechanic, barman etc, so you don't have to make giant fucking inventory lists for each trader. It's the Trader Discounts mod or something, it also gives you discounts based on faction rep with different traders. This way you don't have to make a billion buy and sell prices for each item. Is there any way to make trader inventory at least somewhat persistent per game? Eg. If I see something I want I can leave the area and come back to buy it later? that's coc at work, it brings much improved ai and adds new behaviors to npcs. alundaio's been improving his ai code through multiple mods and coc is like the sum of ai tweaks, mso, pripyat reborn, and who the fuck knows what else.

com uses drx desolation so you get fewer spawns and the respawn timer is not 15mins like it now is in coc, but also brings back more deadly mutants. so fewer, more deadly encounters. that green text above is very unusual to see in com. but that's the randomness at work, which is cool.

The STCoP port to CoM isn't just a drop-in merge. The guy added rusty/worn/etc variants of each STCoP weapon that made sense, preserved the CoM balance, adjusted textures, etc. It's a lot more comprehensive than you may think going by existing weapon packs for CoC which merge in the guns, rebalance and stop there.

I'd start with default CoM though, because it has very good weapons, animations, gunplay.

Hello! Sorry for bothering all of you with tech support questions, but I just need advice on something.

I've downloaded and installed the latest version of CoC, and I was checking the MEGA link in the OP for addons, and i'm confused by some of them, pic related. Do I just need the 700mb AO folder? What does the item soup do? Are the world models necessary? Would I just install the smaller folders on top of the main AO addon?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

the only thing necessary to play AO is
CoC patched up to 1.4.22
and AO 3.1 v5

item soup and world models are not necessary.

Territory assault missions are hot garbage, aside from sending you halfway across the map for the price of a couple bottles of water, they're the only mission type that I've seen that actively fails instead of succeeds if something happens to the target and you're not responsible, tagging you with a relations penalty.

I opened user.ltx and saw that bind console kGRAVE is missing so I copied it from my CoC user.ltx, when I load my last save, console still doesn't open. Could it be that it is disabled when you turn on campfire saves?

Campfire saves unbinds the key and disables the console. Just turn off campfire saves temporarily.
