The Republic of China is in a quagmire of a situation, unruly warlords surround us and the Japanese have crippled us. I'm in a Queen-Regency (my heir is 12) and when you hover over the French Queen it says that a noble of my Queen-Regent's dynasty is going to inherit, not a noble of my country's ruling dynasty. As a CK2 player that has me raging as well.

To be fair I think getting France in a PU would make the rest of the game joyless. Their traditions on morale and manpower regeneration seem OP. Having them as a war-thrall would take the fun right out of the playthrough.

I did the CK2 one more as a joke, it's bad. The Victoria 2 one has a few mistakes, like the best army comp is not 5/1/4, it's actually 4/1/5. I got a lot of feedback when I first posted them, but most of the info is good, and my mistakes are generally things you learn over time. Changeowner is a console command. You open the console, ~, then type "changeowner XXX xxxx", where XXX is the country tag you want to change the province owner to, and xxxx is the province number. You can type "provid" to get province number in the tooltip when you hover over the province. Really, you just need to justify for yourself when you cheat the provinces to Arabia.

My mittelafrika was achieved, but I didn't full take over the areas mentioned, nor did Portugal get its pink map. I really need a good war with GB to kick them out of africa/gibraltar/etc. even though my infamy is high. trying to modernize my navy. I have nearly every treaty port in China by this point just to abuse the income because Spain's economy is pretty garbage on its own. Your best bet is to play Egypt and westernize asap after beating back the Ottomans. With the reform decision you have a chance against European powers as they try to prop up the Ottos against you, but after 1850 an event will make the Ottos lose all cores against you.

If you aren't a civilized nation by this point, all European nations get a "reclaim the levant" CB on you though, so against try your best to survive. Afterwards, all you really need is to sphere the necessary Arab states, though in this playthrough I just conquered them while waiting to Westernize. Arab union is pretty impossible otherwise unless you do tag switch stuff.

Get based continental allies. Nevet played Belgium so I don't know how Prussia/Austria feel about you early game, just stay away from perfidious Albion, and mobilize before every war and just camp your home provinces so you can abuse defensive/river bonuses.

Hopefully you can use them to b8 the ai into awful attacks that depletes their armies so your ally can mop up.

The US is the easiest for beginners. Prussia is really easy too, you just have to know how to do the unification.

After you know what all the pop types do and how to build up industry, then you can try a secondary power like Sweden or Brazil.

When you get a feel for the combat system you can try a continental power like Austria or France.

(Middle class):
Bureaucrats run your government, you need about 1% of them in your populace to have an efficient government. A strong bureaucracy fights crime, helps collect taxes, and allows other pops to promote faster.
Clergy/Intellectuals provide you with research and educate other pops, increasing the literacy rate (which also provides research).
Artisans are like little mini-factories. They are the pre-industrial means of production, and are gradually phased out as nations industrialize.
Clerks work in factories and make them more efficient. They also provide a small amount of research.
Officers provide leadership points which are then used to recruit generals and admirals.

(Upper class):
Landowners own RGOs and take a cut of their income.
Capitalists own factories and take a cut of their income, but can reinvest it into new factories and railroads so the government doesn't have to build them.

In the early game you will generally want more bureaucrats, clergy, and then soldiers, in that order.

Liquor, wine, glass, cement, and dye are almost always profitable. If you have wood, build sawmills and furniture factories. If you have cotton and dye, build textiles. Only build steel mills if you are also going to build machine parts.

Aside from using national focus, the best way to promote pops is to pay them, which is done from the budget window. Admin spending pays bureaucrats, education pays clergy, and military pays officers and soldiers. These should all be 100% most of the time. If you have to cut back, cut the national stockpile first, and only raise it during war.
