One thing he doesn't seem to understand is that speedrunning is easy, and plenty of people are willing to teach you for free. It's not something anyone would ever need paid lessons for, and offering paid lessons is quite literally exploitation of the ignorant.

Also, nobody makes money speedrunning. The money is in streaming. This is why Clintstevens makes more money than ZFG. If people actually made money going for good times and innovation in their speedgames, noone would have a problem with that. What people take issue with is bad runners using speedrunning as stream fodder.

Ever notice how noone has a problem with Cheese, Puncayshun or Ennopp making money? It's because they're actually really good at their game and take the hobby seriously.

It's people like Witwix and Clintstevens that are the problem. The direction they take the hobby is disingenuous. That's what people have a problem with. Not money.
