Since you decided to attach a meme picture to the OP regarding ethics, I felt it was my duty to remind new players what "ethics" in the context of PoE means.

"Ethical builds" refer to builds that reject the idea of abusing whatever exploitable mechanics that are unfair by nature and expected to be nerfed/removed by GGG in 3.0, including double-dipping and CI+VP Vinktartanking, in order to progress.

Example of ethical builds: a traditional summoner Necromancer, an Essence Drain Scion, a Righteous Fire Chieftain. Those builds rely on simple, effective concepts that are not reliant on double-dipping or instant leech.

Example of unethical builds: an ignite Flameblast Elementalist, poison BV Pathfinder, Blade Flurry Assassin.
Those builds rely on unethical double-dipped damage, or trivialize game content through instant leech abuse.

The decision of using ethical or unethical builds is up to personal choice (very much like the choice of good or evil in real life), self-respecting players will use ethical builds, while honorless power-craving "players" are quick to jump from fotm build to fotm unethical build, as long as their personal advancement is ensured without regards for game balance.

I can't decide on a fucking build for 2.6 SSF.
All I know is it's going to be a bow build. I have yet to choose a skill and whether it will be an Assassin or a Slayer.
Will Ice Shot be viable with the buff or is it a noob trap?
Also since it's SSF the build can't rely on uniques.

Assassin is garbage for SSF, it only shines if you're going crit and poison, which is a terrible idea SSF

Slayer is much better since the ascendancy power boost is frontloaded and a duelist doesn't start in the the area of the tree with no life

Ice Shot is shit, either an ele bow LA bow build or a phys one with a reasonably common Lioneye's would be much better

How will GGG recover?

So I've been mapping for quite a while now (last one was T13), and I've killed two of the breachlords. This entire time I did not realise I had misunderstood how resistances work.

The merciless penalty to resistances I was aware of, but what I didn't know is that your hideout doesn't take difficulty into account (I assumed it did, since Navali gave me merciless prophecies while I was in my hideout). My resistances, that were all above 75% while I was tinkering with my gear in my hideout turned out to be below 30% while I was out mapping (without me realising).

TLDR: The resistances displayed in your hideout do not take difficulty into account. Make sure you actually have 75% after the reductions from difficulty.

Currently trying out a new build for me: critical Poison Shadow.
I have been totally tearing everything apart up to lvl 35 so far, killed piety before she could transform a second time.
Main skills are Viper strike and Blade Flurry, both with Poison Support and Faster Attacks.
Defense would be life and Evasion.
My current tree is more or less the critical chanc enodes right by Shadow's starting point and the large Dagger node to the right.

Now my question: Trickster or Assassin? Assassin has the advantage of almost guaranteed crits all the time and massively increased damage, but Trickster has the 30% increased DoT damage, 20/40% increased attack speed (probably would be using WtA constantly) and the big bonuses to dodging/evasion.
So, how will the Evasion bonuses be necessary later? Or is Trickster only good if I also rely heavily on ES? And what infos are out on how the Shadow-Area will look at 2.6?

PoE is a game that tends to reward specialization; find one thing you wanna focus on and do it well. Trying to do some hybrid builds is reserved for more experienced and wealthy players. There are no immunities to primary damage types (e.g. a monster will never be immune to fire, but it might be immune or resistant to ignite). Defenses are a bit different, you wanna keep the "do one thing and do it well" theme but layering defenses is recommended. Armour alone is crap, but it's good with endurance charges. Evasion alone is crap, but it's good with Enfeeble or Dodge. And so on. Don't half-ass a given defense, but keep your options open.

Tricksterdude here, the Walk on Aether passive is amazing. I have 3 attacks per second and BF has an attacktime of 0.18sek.
Dunno where to go from here? do I stick with poison? flat damage per hit added is actually more viable now, like Added Cold Damage Support.
Do I go for elemental weapon?
Do I stick with Daggers? Maybe go for Swords? or Claws?
I even thought about going Dual Axes, but then I'd have to get new attacks.
Right now Viperstrike is my highest DPS at roughly 2k. Cyclone would be an option with axes. It's a movement skill too so I can stack modifiers and supports en masse on there and not feel it

I've been playing the Diablo franchise now for years. Since the release of Reaper of Souls for Diablo 3 its been pretty fun however over the last 4 seasons nothing new has been added only some small alterations. Which makes the game play stale and boring.

Legacy BoR + the surrender (or aegis, saves 2% block) + red nightmare + gladiator + ascendancies + tempest shield.

That alone gets you to 68%, 70% with aegis block. That is without a single passive invested into block other than your ascendancy. Gladiator is going to be pretty good next league, block is just such an useful stat.

The only problem though is: damage. BF will be getting nerfed, so if there are no substantial buffs to other 1h skill it'll be tough. Maybe you can do something with the buffed frost melee skills like ice crash but meh they'll probably require you to go crit.

PoE has nothing like infinitely scaling GRs but instead you get a much more robust and interesting version of rifts that treats each "rift" (map) as an item with random affixes. there are also a bunch of end-game only bosses with special loot tables. PoE's end game is much, much better.

PoE gets 1-2 large updates a year. we're about to get one that will add two entirely new acts and 4 new quasi-new acts and totally overhaul the leveling experience. See above. each league has special mechanics and items, and like D3 there are challenges and rewards.

not necessarily difficult, but there's a massive amount of shit to learn. look at the skill tree. look at all the support gems to decide between. use a guide at first.

GGG has added so many game systems that a few are bound to be weak. Ascendancy and Masters create a lot of tedium. The prophecy system is kind of a non-factor. I feel like they should focus on improving things for a while over adding more and more game systems.

But my biggest issue is probably that many of the monster models are poorly designed and 90% of the bosses are just giant dudes.

I think it has potential if you get the right nodes.

Not only you pierce 25% of reistance, with Elemental Equilibrium the resistances are gonna be at 0% most of the time so it acts as a 25% More.

If you go the Elemental Overload path you add a 40% More to that. And there are nodes that allow you to pierce even more resistances if you're willing to go that path.

I think there's definite potential. Not FotM potential but at least fun and relatively efficient.

It's pretty accurate though. Also shows how garbage bow builds are atm. You can only do some niche elemental builds that are inferior than straight up spell caster builds. Dexterity is also shit. Strength is much better. Strength gives +% damage along with life. Dex just gives evasion, and evasion is pretty horrid which means you need to go for a lightning coil for phys reduction. Meanwhile melee can get kaoms, a lot of armor through formless inferno if they want or just get a ''the surrender'' and run around with 30k armor and a lot of phys reduction.
