Yes, everything thats gone on has been shitty but it seems odd that people are surprised that a private server (see: illegal) and the people who run it (see: illegally) dont have a squeaky clean reputation. This would be a big deal if a legitimate company was caught doing this kind of thing, but its not.

The average player has very little reason to care since pretty much all thats happened doesnt really impact them directly. They'll just keep playing until it blows over or the server shuts down

I'd suggest staying away from 4chan guilds, honestly. However MoH isn't as cancerous as some 4chan guilds have been in the past. Totally up to you.
I'd also suggest waiting a week or two to see how things are panning out. You won't be "behind" on Elysium anyhow and I'm not convinced that Shenna/Vitaliy won't shut the whole thing down if more drama keeps on coming out.

Past that, assuming you don't feel like waiting, Elysium is as good of an option as you're going to get right now if you want semi-new vanilla. The huge pop has clear downsides but also makes finding groups very easy.
Again, I can't stress enough that there are LOADS of friendly "normie" guilds looking for new people filled with fags ready to help you out. 4chan guilds are a lot of things but tend to be quite clique'ish and "helpful to new players" isn't a strong feature.
If what you're really playing for is for memes in guild chat and another channel to shitpost in, then message anyone in MoH and they can direct someone to get you invited.

Blizzard fixed that in tbc, they also slightly reworked the physics engine with the final patch 2.4.3.

This however created a bug which caused all female characters(except taurens and gnomes) to get stuck in terrain, have trouble getting across the tomb in ruins of lordaeron, the bottom circle in Blade's Edge Arena, and even walking up ordinary stairs.

This was fixed with patch 3.0, but will forever be a thing on private servers because they are using 2.4.3.

As someone who tried to give vanilla a chance I have to say it was one of the most miserable experiences I've ever had. Collecting boar asses for 150 hours to level 60 only for the end-game to consist of spamming UBRS hoping to win the reed trinket was miserable. MC was a joke and faceroll shit. Nothing about the combat was engaging or interesting. PvP consisted of rogues 1 shotting people outside of dungeon entrances and premades queue dodging.

I honestly have no fucking clue why anyone would want to play vanilla. I was all for nost and elysium but after actually having fucking played it all the way to 60 and into the end-game content I have no idea why it was shilled in /wowg/ for months.

I'm convinced the only people that actually play on elysium are either completely autistic, russians, or chinks. There is no way a sane adult man would willingly spend his free time playing Elysium. I refuse to believe it.

He created drama.

He received a bunch of information, suggesting there were some shady dealings going on behind the scenes of Elysium. The only leaks with any validity were the bit about a GM planting BRE on a boss and Vitaliy selling services to Chinese players. Rather than being skeptical about the information he's receiving, he instead goes full paranoid Alex Jones mode, even suggesting that Elysium and Crestfall are a ring of servers created to make a profit, while masquerading as legitimate Blizzlike servers.

His proof for this was due to a couple of the people developing and running the servers had sold either gold or bots in the past and from "catching" people in discord chats lying. However, he failed to realize that the people on the project are probably there to create cheat/bot detection, which is something that requires a special set of skills to do. The best people to write software to detect cheats and bots are people who actually have experience writing cheats and bots. He also failed to realize that people work on these projects as a hobby and not for money.

Now Crestfall is going into silent development (shutting down their discord) and several important staff members have left the Elysium team. The sad part is that people are actually suggesting leaving to Kronos because of Elysium corruption, a server with staff who DDOSed Elysium servers and that is unquestionably in it for the money, due to being a part of the Twinstar network. We probably would have seen Crestfall much sooner, as Elysium and Crestfall could have worked together and pooled their resources, but it will probably become a second Corecraft at this point.

zzuk was/is still selling his bot, which is subscription based so it's a constant source of revenue for him. he sells auxiliary to help it work through other people who work with him, he has no intention of crippling his own bot if he did he'd shut it down.

at most people foggily claim he'd aim to trash vanillabot or the others so his could reign supreme, but its far more likely he'd simply be looking for ways to improve his own work by closely looking at what he could use.

I never made negative videos during original Nost. Slight criticisms or suggestions here and there yes, but I never bashed them.
