Actually it is decent, because you don't really need speed, and it looks great for some old peyote-raddled, giant-sombrero riding mexican to use. My mexican peasant girl playthrough I also only used a donkey, they are slow but I was full sharpshooter rifle, sword, and black powder charge anyway so I'd just ride up to a hill and snipe.

I'm in a kodiak with large lasers and I snipe to provide cover and I get around 400 damage per round. Every time I move out of cover I get bombarded with LRMs and AC fire.

3 C-ER-L lasers on each arm. Get quite a few hits on enemies before they even spot me and turn around. The trouble is at the end of the match no matter how many people I snipe and make them run for cover, I get like 700 max damage at the end of the round. Max of 2 kills.

Pulse lasers are always more powerful close up but it's a gamble what to equip because when I put them on I get killed on a sniper and LRM map. It's just annoying, it would be better to select loadout after you know which map it is.

as first mech after playing 25 games in the trial one and its soooo fucking fun.
Those twin autocannons with TComp VII are a near hitscan 40 damage double tap that screenshakes the enemy to oblivion.

The forward torso plate can be blown off with the rest of the Gear undamaged and it'll expose the interior skeleton. The older skeleton had an open rollcage that showed the pilot right away after the exterior armor was breached while the current skeleton has an armored interior that is basically the upper torso hatch that can also be blown off. Subesquent shots to the interior take out the Gear quickly. Could be that it represents the pilot death but in terms of how it's programmed it is probably just registering whatever internal health the Gear has at the moment rather than tracking pilot damage separately while seated.

When the pilot was able to eject from the Gear they would go down to pretty much any level of weapon fire. At the moment the pilot is locked inside the Gear until they revisit how the pilot interacts on the field during regular gameplay, but it might involve things like being able to eject from the Gear to access certain buildings and areas that Gears can't get into. For example if there was a map with a Strider or tank parked in a hangar that can only be accessed by the pilot using a computer terminal to open the bay door, or maps that have base turret defenses that the pilot can operate. As well as just being able to hop out and get into another vehicle on the fly.

But the primary reason for the pilot to eject is to save the ONNet AI computer under the seat that is basically the CPU that retains the Gear's learned battlefield experience even if the Gear itself is destroyed. That particular piece of equipment needs to be defined as to its role in the game, if it represents the pilot's accumulated experience in terms of persistence and stats tracking, or if it'll be tied into specific Gears' abilities and skills. There might be the possibility of it being something that can be trained to get essentially bonus quirks by using particular combat styles or weapons and sold on the in-game market for other players to use in their Gears.
