I'd focus on rerolling for a 5* with perfect IVs and not invest any time in those accounts since the time saved/gained by rerolling for an infinitely better perfect 5* unit is worth far more than the the opportunity cost of just twiddling your thumbs progressing an account where you have to hope for luck to bend over for you to pull a 5* with perfect natures with free orbs. Personally I chose Wolf over the others because Rath comes unpromoted a little late and Shin doesn't get much use out of the Sacae path i.e. bow users now have an enemy phase. You could try and say that he has use on the wyvern reinforcement desert or pegasus infested north, but they're both darkened so getting that player phase attack is a chore, also horses do not like the desert as opposed to what real life ecology would tell you. Not that they aren't good units as far as bow users go, but whereas I ended up choosing Wolf over Jeorge (bad rng growths) or Ryan (just didn't level up fast enough also first playthrough so no reclassing to hunter/horseman), I did end up using Igrene and Louise over Shin and Rath since they didn't turn out badly. Not to say Jeorge wasn't good for what he did but by the time I got Wolf his bad growths had gotten the best of him. Also even if you can't admit Wolf is cooler than Rath you CAN admit they're both cooler than Shin.

I'd say Catria. Effie is good, but her limited move makes using her awkward. Catria doesn't have to worry about that, and she has great debuffs. However, since you're already using Hector, using Effie might be good for smiting him around.

More than just defense, health, and wta, Wary Fighter means she won't be doubled, and then no red will survive two attacks from Effie. Even better if the enemy has multiple swordsmen for the AI to run into Effie at a chokepoint, she'll stay standing.

Mages are still problematic if behind a wall, else you can tank one hit and then walk up and destroy them, or rely on Hector or smiting someone to take care of the mage.

I can only really speak to Effie's strengths though because I use her, Catria's mobility might work too.
