I beat Squall. Whoever told me about s/l is a life saver. I lost the first time, reset the game, and immediately beat him pretty convincingly.

Problem is that I can already tell my team is wayyyyy too weak to beat Biggs and Wedge. I don't even come close. I'm kinda okay with this because I can focus on grinding mythril and orbs

But that doesn't explain WHY they explode, it just explains how they can. Is the only purpose it has in life to one day explode? Are bombs born with just knowledge of fire magic and the self destruct ability? Is it the bomb's role in this universe just to explode? Why can't it have a family or become successful after they open up their own business? Can it not dream of a life worth living instead of throwing it all away just to explode? They are clearly sentient beings capable of acting on their own so why do they just CHOOSE to self destruct? There must be a reason for it. It's so uncanny that an organism is conceived only to explode later on. I say conceived because they are monsters, not constructs. Someone didn't made them, they managed to evolve into a type of organism capable of only suicidal thoughts. One of the things about multiplayer that's a pain is that I have to try to find out what other people's soul breaks do during the battle. It would have saved me time knowing what Aura did in advance, for example.

I'm kind of lucky and also unlucky. I managed to get Ramza, Delita, Agrias, Ovelia, and Gaffgarion thankfully but I don't have their memory crystals nor their BSBs since I couldn't get them. Now we'll have to wait for another year untll the next FFT event.

I still need to learn what other soul breaks do along with which stack. Really the only soul breaks I really know what they do are shout, OK's bsb, all of the OSBs, and the SBs I have used on my characters. I've got two kinda problems with FFT that prevent me from digging it as much as everybody else, I think.
1. Some gameplay stuff in FFT is fucked. I've played it enough to where I've got it down, but where everybody else thinks the Wiegraf fight is great... I think it's bad game design. It's too easy for a new player to just get blindsided by that and not rotate their saves. Then on the opposite side of the spectrum you have TG Cid who might be more formidable than the final boss from the outset.
2. I prefer character-driven stories, while FFT isn't really about the characters so much as the politics.

But I'm a sucker for the job system, and there are more things I like than dislike

Honestly there aren't really that many more characters from FFT to put in besides them. After them, that's pretty much all the good characters imo unless you want them to put in faggot asshat squire #3 and Alma who would have the same abilities Ovelia has except less. Of course though, they could start putting in bad guys but essentially all of them would be knights unless they put in the eldritch horrors.

Firstly, by rotate their saves you mean you have to completely start over because you can't beat Wiegraf or something? If so I never ran into that situation and desu not sure how you would. It's a pretty hard fight but in all honesty the game in general is still pretty hard and there will be times where you get shit on because you were unprepared. I find the places where the main characters is forced to go in alone to be pretty cool as you won't always have your team with you and it makes you learn not to rely on ganging up on people. Unless you made Ramza a white mage or chemist and you're severely underleveled I feel like if you're competent enough, by that stage in the game you will always have a way to win.
Also as for the story, I wouldn't say it's not about the characters but the politics of it all is definitely the most important part of the story. I can agree people might not like it because of it being a bit convoluted and Ramza isn't the strongest character in existant due to protagonist plot powers but I find that to be a good point. It feels more like a real story as he has to overcome all odds never by himself and he actually grows as a person.

This is all just my opinion though. I definitely agree with the job system part as that's my favorite too.

What I mean is by having multiple save points. The Wiegraf fight is part 2 of a three-part fight. If you only had one save and your Ramza absolutely cannot defeat Wiegraf no matter what, you're fucked. Has never happened to me, i assume most people had a Ramza who could fight one-on-one, but I still think that's BS. Somebody could be completely screwed there through basically no fault of their own.

I don't really have much else to say about the story stuff. FFT isn't a character story, it's more about the world around the characters. Most characters themselves don't really have much going on except Delita and maybe Ovelia. But I never really cared about Delita either, eh whatever, I don't really want to get too into it because I don't want to shit on a game I actually do like.

The squads only drop well in certain locations where they can spawn up to 4 at a time. Just doing each area once isn't going to get you a lot of each as they're meant to be grinded out. I got my ixion to ability level 6 the other day from grinding the ixion squad in reactor 3 and I felt it was fine. I used like 2 elixirs so I could do it in one long sitting of auto battles but I have 30 of them so why not.

If you're starting out I personally would say not to waste orbs making the 3* rank ones. Save up for the 4* ones. If you take a OSB RW and kill a boss in both summons you should be fine. It's where the 90+lvl ones that breaks matter the most.
