They got 320 gear after beating 320 mission, take any 150 purple you get from the last mission on normal difficulty and go back to first mission, see how it works.

Gear is just fine, they know what gear is obtainable in their own game dude, the missions will be challenging for a little bit, and then once you beat all of them you'll get new gear that will make them piss easy, and the cycle will continue, welcome to looter games.

Been using Hanzos set for Ninjutsu the whole game. Is this the best one? I just entered region 4 and I am still using it but now I have a problem because its so low level I have no defense and get 1 shotted by anything. How can I get a higher level version of the same set?

You can do a ton to boost your damage, but something as simple as weakness talisman will double your damage. Carnage+weakness+sloth talisman will quadruple your damage and make bosses too slow to do anything at all really. How you want to optimize your damage after that is basically fluff, because just mashing square with anything will suffice at that point.

Life back from amrita absorption is handy dandy and doesn't require a slot on your weapon.

Having a weapon that gives back life after a close combat kill will make normal levels fucking easy, but if you're more concerned with being effective against a boss, a few hundred HP restored isn't going to save you since usually when you're hit it's for more than half of your life and you pop an elixir anyway. Best to keep life restoration off of any weapon used for killing actually hard monsters.

Close combat is 20 yes, it will show as 15 on a zero familiarity weapon. Seems pretty rare I have never seen it in a reforge, got it on a purple katana as an inheritance trait. I think it was a quest reward from ng+ Musashi sub mission

Master swordsman mixed with either WoTW or Red Demon is best sets you can get for 2kat.

I seriously don't understand why people are wearing Kingos Armor. The set bonuses suck ass and the Agility A and the damge modifier you get with Aya-komor don't make up for what you lose not using master swordsman/WoTW/Red Demon.

You evidently didn't take a close look at them. You do cruel amounts of damage behind enemies, and even more when you're behind them when they're on the floor. There's also the flat damage increase that puts them over the top of other sets that can only do as much damage under specific circumstances that require setup or limit your weapon choices.
