With enlightenment XP, one of those side quests is enough for a point, when you add in XP from killing shit. For the main zone story quests that are multi part, a couple points per step is the norm. Basically, 3 - 5 points per regular level about, in the beginning.

If you're following your faction quests and doing daily dungeons/clearing every area as you go, you should hit 50 before you actually finish the main story.

Honestly though, I'd recommend not worrying about getting to endgame asap. Taking in the sights and sounds is perfectly good in terms of enjoying the game, and I wouldn't want to rob you of the experience by saying 'you should hit 50 by 35 hours and be cp160 in 10 hours after that', because really no MMO should be about fast-tracking to endgame; it just tends to be what people perceive to be how MMOs should be handled

if you do want to fast track to 50 (cp160), xp scrolls alongside dolmen grinding in alik'r gives decent xp. I think it ruins the experience, but if you want to grind comfortably, I'd say that's the most inoffensive method of doing so

How does the design/corporate structure break down for this game? Bethesda devs make the game and Zenimax Online tells them what to do to make it profitable? Or am I missing some steps?

Coming from GW2, I know that Anet makes the game and NCSoft holds their leash. No particular reason, just curious. I'm not even mad at a design choice or monetization in ESO, though I wish I didn't have to sub to get the crafting bag. Its so damn tempting FUCK

Zenimax Media is the mother company. They own both Bethesda Game Studios and Zenimax Online Studios. Bethesda Game studios makes the traditional Elder Scrolls games. Zenimax Online Studios haven't done anything else but Elder Scrolls Online and was founded to make an Elder Scrolls MMO.

This means that Zenimax Media is the company taking care of the marketing for both companies. Why you have Peter Hines, a guy who used to work on Morrowind, shilling ESO and ESL.

The exact connection between ZoS and Bethesda is unclear. According to a PAX West interview, every large additions (such as the broad strokes regarding lore added trough Orsinium and Shadow of the Hist) has to get the green light from Bethesda before they go into production. The Principle Worldbuilder for Morrowind started his game development career making mods to Morrowind. The current Lead Content Designer worked at Bethesda when they made Oblivion and would pester Todd about an Elder Scrolls MMO and got personally assigned to the team by Todd. Lawrence Schick, the lead writer with the title "Lore master" at ZoS, is butt buddy with Kurt Kuhlmann, the loreguy at Bethesda.

However you don't have to touch anything if you don't like to. There's nothing that's absolutely vital. The closest would be passives to potions and food making them last longer.

There's also upgrade materials. I would personally save all purple and legendary upgrade to when you've reached champion point 160.

As you level up, old crafting materials (such a high iron) will be obsolete, so I would faff about if I were you to get a hang of it but not make anything better than blue items.

I tried the open beta years ago and was disappointed that I couldn't run a Monk type character.

All I want to do is make a character that goes around and punches people as his main form of attack. I think I was a Dragon Knight or something like that in the beta but it was pretty lackluster.

Cyrus is a cool guy and all but Redguard was pretty shit, from the awful controls (however normal they were at the time) to the annoying enemies (let's just keep spawning a million skeletons and zombies! Having fun on N'Gasta's island yet?) and requiring platforming despite being real bad at platforming.

It had some neat things like being the sole TES where your protagonist has the fucking upper body strength to catch a ledge and pull themselves up instead of bouncing off and falling to their death if they don't land on their feet, or the fact that in the intro S'Rathra's dialog is entirely in Ta'agra, the Khajiiti tongue.

But fuck me if it isn't a mess otherwise. I am glad ESO references the stupid busted bridges leading to N'gasta's island though. Holy fuck that was the worst.

Not really. Zenimax in their, at best, semi-competence did not bother to put even half of the old weapon types or fighting styles in the game.

Frankly I never understood why the stupid fucks went for the Dragonknight, Templar, Sorcerer, and Nightblade shit anyway. They had a perfect class list and a huge set of existing spells and abilities from other games that they could have used, but they didn't.

In fact I would consider that their greatest fuck up since NONE of the classes play how a TES character should, and instead act as if they are fucking WoW characters.

It does, but it only really affects the "main" plot. Basically every other quest ignores it aside from a few that take advantage of the fact that you don't actually stay dead and have no soul.

Outside of a few assholes who sit in a cave you don't have to worry about everyone going OH VESTIGE, SAVE US like you do in other games.

Is there any downside to just bum rushing the main quest right away?

I'm about to do Sancre Tor and so far it's all really boring, I enjoyed the questlines in Glenumbra and Stormhaven a lot more

It does a good job of showing every side's bad side. EP, when they take the time to sail literally around the continent to annoy the Covenant and AD are typically portrayed by the Dark Elves taking slaves. I don't think I recall seeing much of the nords being assholes, which is weird because you'd think vikings would be all for raiding. Argonians are, rather fittingly, completely lacking.

Well datamined stuff did determine there were fabricants that also appear, but if it's basing its lore off what I think it is, that means Sotha Sil is also a collector of interesting tech and machinery. Since the dwemer collossus seems to be unique to the trial, it seems like an interesting curio he swiped to study.
More conventionally it's probably also because they're saving the main creations for the actual Sotha Sil DLC.

No it doesn't but changing class passive to fit a theme is a good start to leveling the weapon playing field.

They should have separate stats for magicka builds to scale off of other than weapon dmg. Maybe maces could be given a templar theme, daggers a nightblade/poison magic, not sure how you'd work in elemental dmg types but the scaling is too simplistic in this game and leads to major balance issues

Guide says there are Magicka and Stamina builds for each class. I'm playing a Nightblade, and as far as I can tell, all my abilities run off Magicka. Can someone explain that for me?

Pay your bounty and forfeit all your stolen goods (stuff in your inventory flagged with a red hand), use clemancy if you're a member of the thieves guild and have the passive, and its not on cooldown (so once a day) or ... resist arrest, and they'll try to kill you (and you can't kill them, if you fight, you will die) and take your bounty (and stolen goods) off your corpse. If your bounty is too high, they won't even bother trying to arrest you they'lll just try to kill you.

cp160 is what you need for endgame gear, both pvp and pve. getting from 10-160 champion points is like a couple days. less if you're a tryhard. that's all you need to be "competitive", because you can just play on a non-cp campaign, which I would recommend doing anyway, regardless of your cp.I personally just find it way more fun. getting gear together is also anywhere from a single evening to a couple days, but also depends on what build you want to run. anyway, it's definitely not anything that you can't do on your own in less than a week and save yourself 300$. gear is very important in ESO, but as hard as Wrobel tries, skill is also still important. can't buy that.

regardless, ESO PvP is not something I would call competitive to begin with. at least not as it is right now. once battlegrounds are released with morrowind, then we can talk about competitiveness.

Neither does Diablo, because according to his logic, the only way to ever be "competitive probably in pvp" is to buy an account of another player. Seriously, what the fuck kind of dumbass reasoning is that? Play the game, level your character. Get to level 50. Then get from CP10 to CP160. Takes a couple days at most. Then buy some cookie cutter gear from the market/have some one craft it/farm it. Also takes very little time, unless you are going for something very specific, which you won't be doing, because you'd still be learning the game. That's it, that's all it takes. You are now "competitive", at least on Azura's. Fuck all that means though, because Cyrodiil is mostly just empty space, with a couple zergs running around IC, wiping everything they come across, unless it is another zerg, then it's a laggy clusterfuck. And don't forget the nightblades ganking your ass every 2 minutes if you are not a part of a zerg yourself.

The very last area won't be unlocked until you've done the main story. It's cold harbour. But there's absolutely nothing interesting there. All quests there are just extension of the main quest.

I would go so far as to recommend doing all quests in all zones before bothering with the main quest. The last zone will be really great if you do it since there's a lot of recurring characters from all over the game that for one reason or another ends up there.

I play on PS4 NA mostly every day. The guild there has about 34 members, and maybe 6 or so are online at a time on average, at least when I'm on. We haven't done any kind of guild activities but I've done dungeons with a few individual members, and the bank has the usual like recipes/stuff for deconstructing to level crafting skills/psijic ambrosia to level your character.
