Generally the only way to actually get monster to be effective is if you're going with either a symbiote or mine build - symbiote is the best of the two, because mines are gimmicky and can be played around.

The Monstrosity basically increases the player count on your team to 6 if you have the ability to keep an eye on both it and your team. Pick it at 10 if the hat is enough to give your team the edge in teamfights, or on maps that require large amounts of time to to capture objectives like warhead junction, garden of terror or the temple map.

Pretty much this, also you would want monstrosity to " win harder". If you can hit level 10 before the enemy, then your team can win a team fight without a 5th, which at that point you add monstrosity to make sure you always have a 1 to 2 level advantage.

Hivemind's symbiote is talented, but half strength; regenerative microbes works with it, but you still want to hat the target who desperately needs healing as the primary target.

Defensive symbiotes are very strong, because it lets you act as a support as well as a specialist. It also gives you a chance to save teammates that the offensive symbiote cannot. However, if your team has 2 tanks you should definitely go offensive symbiote, since the damage offered by it will help to cover the void created by your lineup.

Abathur works best with heroes who have durability, mobility and/or high attack dps. Muradin is a great partner for abathur because he's durable and mobile, and can spec into high attack speed with Skullcracker.

Of all level 4 talents, if you can get a teammate who can capitalise on Adrenal Overload it will win the game for you. Muradin, Sonya and Rexxar's bear are great hat targets, because they give you ample time to throw damage at the enemy's team, as well as them being able to take advantage of your attack speed boost. Do not pick Abathur if you only have 1 good hat target, though.

The most important thing to remember is that Abathur is a lot like Medivh; a great one will ruin the enemy's day. Any lower quality than that, and you're going to ruin your own team's day.

Locust builds the massive utility the symbiote build has for becoming a nuisance to the enemy team.

Short answer, don't take locust talents. The symbiote talents at every level are superior to the locust talents, and while locusts will certainly help remove pressure from your team, they would do that untalented, anyway. The strength of symbiote far outweighs your locusts, and if you DO end up going up locusts, you must pick ultimate evolution, or else you will be completely irrelevant to teamfights outside of occasional poke.

Not if they're untalented. Ranged locusts however are a different story. Especially if you have the 3x spawn talent.

Ranged locusts are quite strong, and locust brood is also strong.

However, Soma Transference allows for burst heal, which is incredibly strong. And Adrenaline Boost on 16 - a 40% movement speed boost for almost 4 seconds - is an incredibly strong talent, to the point of being almost broken. It gives symbiote's target incredible chase, as well as a great escape if they did not have one already. It allows you to save allies who would otherwise get chased down and killed.

What I'm saying is, locusts delay waves fairly well without talents. They may not stop bruiser camps like the ranged locusts, but they're enoguh to allow your team time to arrive and help you clear. And the locust talents at 13 and 16 are great, but aren't nearly as good as the symbiote talents.

Artanis really isn't that great, he is A+ tier. At HGC he had a 10% win rate. He is over hyped and don't really know why.

Tyrael being S tier makes sense considering artanis is there. Tyrael plus an off tank is a great team line up, good damage. Any place you would put sonya you could easily replace with tyrael so thats why hes s tier.

His shield is techincally the biggest burst heal in the game aside from rehgars ult. It can cancel a lot of damage fairly quickly. In addiion since this game has no wards having a character who can constantly see all around him is invaluable. He can solo lane pretty effecitvely with his W so unlike most other supports he doesn't hinder your teams laning capabilities. His ult can add a lot of damage to team fights since it hits aoe or you can use wall and really screw teams over by blocking some of them in/out.

I honestly can't see any appeal in Sky Temple or Blackheart's Bay. Both are shitty remote maps where the objective kills the enemy core for you with no interaction from the enemy team. In the case of Sky Temple it's not even preventable (like the turnin in BHB) as 1 second on the thing fires 1 shot which might be just the shot that kills your fucking core.
This map is insanely boring and unfair, plus I have the worst winrate on it out of all of them.

Same time 44% wirnate on tomb with over 150 games.

Also you can cancel lasers really easily, just stand on the point. Its the only map with a hold point you can contest by standing on it. Its great in that sense. Since both braxis and dragon don't give a fuck if you are on the point if they are on it as well. Its a map that encourages heavy AoE and team fighting. Maybe why I like it.

Even without the other talents, Epicenter puts your only engage/disengage on a much shorter cooldown.
If you have another good engage hero, or can't burrow engage due to a lack of support, Blood for Blood is the only other talent at that level that does anything though, but even that requires some decent health on the enemy team to be better than Epicenter.

If I'm not building an anti-mage Anub though, I usually build him for poke and Solo-Laning though.
Q, AoE Attack, Cooldown for W, Bed of Barbs, then Epicenter unless they have double tank or tank + azmo.

They change some things from PTR. For instance some of Murky's shit was nerfed from PTR to live, like he needs 2 more bribe stacks to take a merc.

They said it's mostly for finding bugs and not for balancing, but somethings are pretty obvious when you see them on PTR. The idea was his tankiness was to steal from skillshot blocking beetles, a shield ability and minor life drain. It didn't work out much in practice because the shield was always tiny and making it huge would make longer cooldowns, meaning less beetles. And the sheer amount of AOE and point and click in this game meant his beetles didn't mitigate much damage.

But seeing his dive, his timing based shield, his beetles, design figured he would be good at being anti mage. This way his awesome kit wouldn't have to be reworked, while still giving him purpose.

I love Anub.

A long time ago, back when Brightwing and Illidan were good, Anub was the top tank, and Locust Swarm was so good he'd outheal the entire enemy team's damage and outdamage their heals. So even though he had low HP, Swarm was so good, you'd never kill him. I think other things about him were better too, but I forget.

Anyhow, like Brightwing, Illidan, and also Zagara, they nerfed him into the ground and gave nothing in return, leaving a lot of glaring weaknesses.

Turns out the spell armour and anti-mage thing suit his kit pretty well, so he's good now, and lots of fun too, so currently it's all smiles.

Is this the most balanced the game has been? Besides the fairly polarizing Murky changes?

I know, it's kinda decent as a specific niche counter to one or two heroes.
There's just not enough pure skillshot heroes to counter, if they'd block Chromie's or other hero-only abilities in particular with that talent, they'd feel a lot better. Still countered by ability quests but great for fucking over a bigger set of characters.

I also think the beetle heal is situationally decent, on maps where you're often close to a lane while TF i.e. Tomb or DS, but more often than not MS or CD reduction are just too good to pass up on.
Like Tass + Kael not realizing I won't ever die to them if they keep chucking bombs and storms at me with CD reduction is just hilarious.

Is it really, though? Her attacks are basically like a laser. Constant damage. Her reload is very quick and a non-issue to her otherwise constant AA. Meanwhile, every other hero (outside of Tass) have to "reload" between every single attack.

So you have to think about damage up-time (how much % of time are they attacking) and DPS. Tracer has always been pretty fucking insane for that. She is broken, design-wise. Doesn't fit ASSFAG and sure as shit doesn't fit HotS.
