That said, other characters will have to have their legs cut a bit, otherwise they won't fit in the game. Height accuracy in a quest that stays realistic almost certainly will not happen. Unless you only want to see Player B and Player C from the neck down at all times.

The first thing is the naming convention. Makes all of the characters who do not have drastic difference in design choices difficult to discern who you're talking about. An example would be the freddy line compared to the bonnie and foxy lines. This on top of all but one freddy being basically the same character doesn't help. There is also the problem with grapply not being a grappler but a fisticuffs aficionado instead, blocky being a pirate with an arm cannon and a perceived lack of focus on defense, staffy being another deviantart sponsorship presented by bombay, and rolly in general being based on wearing rollerskates when you can look at streets of rage 2 and see that the rollerskating character is the least interesting one of the cast.

It should be said that i do rate blocky as the average character design when it comes to the entire cast. They're well put together but are missing cohesion and visual clarity that doesn't rely on text to explain their deal.

Good fighting character designs would be pudgy and bippy, zappy, kicky, kahly, blinky, edgy, thuggery, yogy, and brawly. Saying this because there's no need to look up their fighting style to get an idea of how they fight given it's incorporated into their designs. Other characters not mentioned have either no style or means of showing how they fight proper and their design and names are misleading on that front. Alternatively the unmentioned characters either don't have a good enough amount of information present in their design alone to fill these gaps, or don't go anywhere with that information. Additionally these design mistakes can be avoided by better basing the character off of their version in the series. The epitome of this example is to be in the next post because character limit.

As i was saying: the epitome of this example is tied between punchy, grapply, and flippy being that if you don't include quest information there's nothing present here. You have punchy based off of spring bonnie but no reference to it outside of color palette and a 'bright' personality which is just a projection from the creator of how they assume the character would act. This of course is able to be brushed aside because of how popular the character has become and how so many people ignore how forced this character feels when in anything dynamic.

Next up is flippy, based off of golden freddy. What the hell is a character with the name 'flippy' and a fighting style that matches only the nationality and not how golden freddy behaves in game? A character who is a huge threat which you have to avoid any form of interaction with not being based on a fighting style around that bothers me. Instead it's another female version of a character that could have been any other blind character ripped from a fighting game at first glance.

Then we have grapply, based off of one of the freddy's. Nothing about this character looks interesting especially when compared to the other members of the cast. British stereotype with a name that suggests their main form of aggression is to wrestle and throw his weight around (and opponents too) yet no he instead uses fisticuffs and is just your standard britbong cunt. I would have preferred seeing any of the boxing-themed characters from street fighter just copied and pasted with a freddy recolor than this, because at least it shows visible effort. It doesn't help that you can replace his head with a gorilla's and you have an immediately more interesting character albeit no longer fnaf related.

All of this just sounds like ass-pull design choices to just shoe horn in characters for the sake of new characters to generate forced thirst over.

Holy shit just this. So many people don't see fighting games beyond a surface level. I absolutely love teaching the one or two other people I have contact with about it and they both quickly fell in love with the genre and bought a bunch of them to practice and play online. I'd say it's a mix of both. The games mechanics are complex and reward people who play smart, but the terrible presentation and the absolute lack of context or explanation for anything practically encourage players to dislike it. I believe every character has been drawn by an ocfag who didn't make that character by now. The issue is how easy it was for more popular ocfags to just throw in a half-baked idea and get them into the fight au than others. A good example of this is the toy chica debacle with penguin saying 'hey i'm making a toy chica' but then not saying anything else until they submitted rolly, but another ocfag made a toy chica the day before and honestly has better design choices overall.

A lot of the ones who are ignored are pretty terribly conceived. Not that it really means much, but I made the fighter template just to give the thread some life since I made that thing after the big image leaking debacle and when Skypeshit dominated the thread. I didn't expect it to blow up so hard, but I'd take the fight AU populating the thread over "DID YOU KNOW BOMBAY DID X?" and "I CAN'T BELIEVE BENIS LICKED THE Y OUT OF PANEL'S Z AT Q'S APARTMENT" any day. For something meant to motivate me artistically it backfired hard, since I wound up spending more time trying to git gud at Xrd and DoA5 than I have spent drawing seeking 'inspiration'.

Grappley isn't a super deep character, he's the personality of Dudley who plays like Potemkin with a rocket punch. I didn't make him to be some super deep amazing character, he's rich and runs fighting rings. That's all there is to him, and I think that's enough for what this is, just a silly side thing. I've approached this whole AU with a tongue-in-cheek mentality. For people that draw Grappley it's not because I've been begging them to behind the scenes, the only real involvement I've had with the fight AU since mid-January is Snax or Mizu will occasionally hit me up on Steam with something they created to make sure Grappley's personality sounds okay. Oh! And last night I dug around through anyone here that could speak Spanish to try and not have to do the Animorph's translator for Blinky's dialogue. No luck.

I should probably do more fight stuff though, but the Quest is top-priority for now. I do want to start in late-March and I'd hate to postpone it.
