It's pretty good if you can actually use it. Break defense reduction is a good status. As for whether it's worth rolling for, I'd say you might as well if any of the cards interest you. The event gives a lot of summon tickets. I also farmed the shit out of the explorations and got more tickets yesterday.

A lot of the single-player content is scaled to your level, but even then eventually enemies start using buffs and debuffs that you have to plan around. For farming bosses you also want to plan you resistances accordingly. I've found that as long as you can survive against an enemy then killing it on auto is just a matter of time, so I make sure to build for survivablilty.

He is actually pretty damn good good for F2P players without (m)any TMs. Can get up to 520 attack with F2P gear including Killer Bow which gets him 6 killers natively. His cover will protect your female healer while not wasting HP on your attackers usually. His auto regen is massive. The dark element on Killer Bow lets him take advantage of his dark debuff to an extent despite many of his skills being light.

Oh, yeah. The AI constantly uses all of it's orbs, always, and always prefers single-target. It also uses the cheapest moves, and immediately uses abilities when they become available.

I find I have to make specific 'autoing' lists that abuse the way the AI does things to get far with it. Things like making sure not to double-up on elements and using more defensive setups, and not using abilities that you don't want spammed (Like L'cie Brand and Free energy)

Either way to the anon asking, if or whenever you reach the point where you can't do something on your own there's been a resurgence of Linkshells (guilds, in a sense) aimed specifically at recruiting and helping new players.

Just try and consume as much as you can the first free month. I've had a few friends who scoffed at the idea of a Final Fantasy MMO stick around a couple more months just to finish the story. Vana'diel has a pretty expansive lore if you're the type of player that enjoys examining every bit of RPG's world.

The final boss or two is pretty shit, but the core of the game is good. It's like a simplified kingdom hearts or something, but it's got the same depth, I guess? You can hold down the appropriate buttons instead of needing to tap the controller often, but timing is everything because of that.

Or you can use magic and just BTFO out of everything. Seriously, fuck the Power of Kings, just quintcast flare on the final boss it'd do more damage faster.

If you were only level 20 it isn't that bad of a decision to start fresh. You would get to that level in less than a day with how the game's changed.

I'd say the biggest hurdles as a solo player are Limit Break 3 and defeating Shadow Lord unless you're pretty competent.

I'd honestly recommend you get something comfy on and watch someone play the actual game. The boss fights are all kinda garbage.

Maybe try the hunts, though. If you find a person good at the game, the hunts against miniboss / boss-like monsters are pretty good, all the story boss fights though they intentionally try and go beyond what their game could actually do and they wind up being boring to watch and EXTREMELY boring to play through.

There's a fight with like 9 mind-flayers I remember being a pain, and I remember liking the jabberwocky even if it was a bit more of a damage sponge than I liked.

The best part of the game is the play through the 'core' of the game, wandering around the countryside, beating up wildlife, cruisin' on chocobo with your bros and alike.

To add a little to this, RK is more like a marathon than other games, and individual rolls help. But because of the way record synergy works, it's more of a game where no matter how good one roll is, you aren't going to be set for a while. Since you can use roaming warriors to use some soul breaks a couple times per dungeon, it saves you from having to pull all the essentials. Usually you'd want your main team to have a mass haste and heal soul breaks, but the best thing to do is to watch the thread and save mythril for what are generally agreed on as good banners. That will help somewhat, although keep in mind that there's little that people will agree on here, even if you assume that the person knows what they are talking about.

You guys always talk about the jewgle all the time but honestly I feel like RK is a lot less jewish than BE. Like you said, it's more of a marathon where comparitively BE is a sprint. You can get the best unit in the game in BE and then nothing else matters or you can never roll any good units and quit because you're not having fun. That's alleviated by spending money and/or rerolling for a week so you can get your top tier unit asap because nothing else matters.
Conversely, you need a good amount of good rolls to be top tier in RK instead of just that rucky one but I'd rather play a game where I can play with anything and actually progress rather than no progression and I can only play with good units.

I can't believe I did so much of this. I feel like I spent as much time with it as I did playing the normal game, unless you count time trying to steal from bosses. I don't know if there's a better one in the Final Fantasy series or not, but there have been stuff in other games I've probably enjoyed more. The only ones I tend to remember in FF are the odd ones like the VII sub minigame and the ones that might have been fun but turned into an awful slog like Blitzball.

You're fine. Finish chapter 2, tha'ts when the real game starts. Start levelling pu DK / RM, they'll get stronger than your starting jobs by panel 2.

After Chapter 2 you can go on the Exploration Missions that have extra skillseed multipliers and that have very easy boss monster grinding to get augment materials. Use augment materials to upgrade your monster cards. Use 3* monster cards to start upgrading your summoned attack cards.

By the time you've got a few under your belt, you'll be ready for Multiplayer and the 'real' game. There's no reason to re-roll in Mobius unless you really, really want to get Soldier 1st or Aerith or something stupid like that ; Even then, most of that shit is necessary and imho detracts from the fun of the game.

3* matches seem to take at least 10 minutes on average assuming everyone is decently equipped. Usually no one will die also assuming everyone is a different role and everyone at least somewhat knows what they need to do even if they fuck up. It can be easier if people are super OP like this one ranger I got that used an ability and broke the boss from full gauge in 3 actions and then the mage spammed his fully augmented meteor storm and shat on it.
