WMBOAMK or whatever it's called has a nice option for that. Stalkers will buy damaged weapons, but you have to do a lot of bartering since most Stalkers only carry 2k.

How much RAM do you have? I have 8GB and have only had one crash, when I went to the car park, and all I had to do to fix that was close my browser so I had more spare RAM. Did you change any settings in the config or through the console?

I use DX10 (with 10.1). I think DX11 has some issues and and DX9 is lacking some of the features that DX10 and 11 have.

nah. the maximum balistics mod probably has different x/y coordinates for the icon in the weapon's .ltx file.
you shoudl be able to just copy from the old one into the modded one and it will show fine again.

same goes for the upgrade icon if you meant that instead.

you can simply fix your icons yourself by copying

for the AO 3.1 v5 original files for each gun and pasting into the current edited versions in your gamedata\configs\weapons\

Pistols similarly don't pick up in usefulness until you get to Rostok and can find 1911s, being able to use a rifle and a Toz early on would be real nice.

I got to X19 but got bumraped by grenades. I later checked it out as a Monolith dude and there has gotta be around 100 Monolith guys in there and it's close quarters. A well equipped Stalker can take on any threat in open space but surviving in those basements seems impossible.

Just joined Duty and looking to buy my endgame armor but I cant decide between their SEVA suit or their SKAT-9. I do, but no matter where I start, there will always be a burer at the Wild Territory, there will always be a Chimera at the same spot in Jupiter, there will always be Bandits at the Cordon railway bridge.

Setting the big badass mutant spawns to spawn random shit isn't hard, I'm just not sure if I feel like going through them all. I haven't even looked at the NPC squads yet.

Chimeras are fucking resistant as shit to explosives. I hit some with VOGs and it took about 4 of them to bring one down. I shot a fucking RPG into the middle of them with no real effect.

Pseudogiants aren't too bad. They're just damage sinks. They can't readily kill you in a hit like Chimeras can, and very suddenly.

The pseudogiant stomp attack does an absurd amount of damage (usually 1hko), as far as I can tell being above them or in the air doesn't negate the damage anymore. Chimeras aren't hard to dodge and kite in the open but I admit they're basically unkillable in a close quarters fight with no exploitable terrain.

I think it's either the Obrez because it's a short range weapon that can't be suppressed and has a second or two between each shot, or the Makarov which has faster fire rate but the suppressor doesn't matter since it won't kill anybody even with a headshot and they'll just raise the alarm. When you add new guns to each loadout does it let you set probability of spawning witch each gun, or does it just choose between what you allow them to have? Played around with it for a bit and while I see ocassional mp5 or pp2000 there's awful lot of AK's again like in regular STCoP. Haven't seen a single PPS and rarely any mosin, while in regular WG they're plenty.
Either that was just my luck(if you set probability equal) or if there's no probability then reducing AK variants for loadouts could be good too.

I joined Duty in CoM but everyone in rostok is still neutral to me. Turned in about 15 quests with them and nothing. I just wanna recruit some bros man, is it possible to edit save files and make them friends? Also what do I do about pic related? Hostage spawned outside of map boundary. Nice loadout. I just spent money on the Wind of Freedom and a decent helmet plus camelbak so I can sprint forever. Found an AKS-74 (modern) with 3 upgrades already on it that I repaired. For modding? It lets you move shit back and forth without having to copy files individually, and also alerts you when a file would overwrite another file. I tried Winmerge, and the problem is that different mods organize the same files in different ways. I've been mostly working with mods between different versions of the game, so moving shit from CoC to CoM, porting shit from CoM 1.0c to 1.0d and shit, and a lot of the contents of the files are arranged in different orders so as far as I can tell, Winmerge is useless. I go through with Notepad++ and have to find the important fields to change. There is no program that can take an out-of-order file and transfer the text over, or else I would have had all the huge Russian mods translated by now.

It's fairly random, basic AK's (AK47, AKS, AKM, 74u & 74) are common, mosins & sks's should be common as well, the pps is not as common though, the skorpion is supposed to be relatively common.

Making a weapon more common is mostly adding multiple entries to the faction's loadout file in the ai_tweaks folder. The more entries of one weapon, the more common it will be to see.

Ultimately though you could raid the same place once & then go back again to wipe out the respawned enemies and it could change up the guns you get noticeably.

Mercs don't have many armor choices from the get-go. However you'll still be able to find and use Berrill, Sunrise, SEVA, ecosuits.

The only merc armors I have in my game are the exos, the generic merc armor suits, and the merc scientific suit.

Hey i'm glad for the feedback. One thing, you can make the bandits have their own loadouts, but it requires a bit of editing.

Clone the stalker entries over to the bandit loadout file, rename them to bandit_RANK instead of stalker_RANK & change a few lines up top to make the bandits use the new loadouts, then tweak the loadouts as much as you want.

I was toying with the idea of doing that but it was kind of hard to justify the work. I mean they should be in line with the loner's weapons choice right? I couldn't think of a good way to vary it up.

HUD works, AO works, OpenAL seems to work. The problem is that this version of Pripyat Reborn broke some npcs and scripts, namely Hatchet.
He looks like a regular merc now, and tells me to go speak to the boss, which is him. This means I can't give him the food and that means I can't hire him to protect the lab.

The mod is otherwise great but if I'm running into issues like this early on, then I probably should look into using a different pack. Can anybody recommend anything for CoP?

I tried modding my CS but it's just so crash prone. For some reason none of my computers like CS. I kinda got tired of SoC and now CoC, hence why I was looking at CoP. CoC is great for a spell and all but it still feels light on actual content, even with tons of mods.

I think CoC has hell of a lot of content. The amount and variety of side missions you can get is insane.

The missions aren't just kill X, they are very flavorful.

Freedom asks you to capture a Monolith member alive. Ecologists ask you to escort them on a mutant hunt. Mercs ask you to scout out enemy positions.

Emergent gameplay aside the scripted missions in CoC are top notch.

Minimal modding in the style of DoctorX's main quest lines is all it really needs to shine.

You may wish to check out the "Campfire Save" option in CoM if you're looking to keep your finger off the F5 key; it's not as ball-busting as Ironman, but it limits your ability to save to sleeping, level transitions, and using Firestarters at campfires. It's pretty fucking nice.

This is just because that's super easy to write, in story and in code. Anything beyond that requires some scripting magic. Just read the Stalker or Metro books, or Roadside Picnic, and let the ideas come naturally.

I agree with you on the rape my face part. It's neat that it actually works though, that stalker will in fact have found that artifact when he announces it. You can turn off certain alerts in dynamic_news_main I think it is.

I figure for the PDA callback script, I'll leave an option to only get callbacks from your faction. The main reason I care at all is because I've slaughtered so many poor loners that just happen to look too much like bandits, especially at night.

I've read part of Metro, all of Roadside Picnic, and the two English Stalker books. I'm more interested in little short stories that could be woven into quests. Ever seen those mysterious Stalker comics? One is about two controllers playing deathmatch with stalkers they possessed, one is about a guy who raises a baby bloodsucker and brings it people to eat, and there was another about some gang that dressed up like vikings. I'm not much of a story guy, but I do have fun poking at code, so if anyone had suggestions, I'd at least take note of them.

For something unrelated, read Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Try to apply some of the better ones to a Stalker Universe. For instance, take The Bride:

Stalker comes across a locked chest item. It's quite heavy, and has a note leading to 3-4 Stalkers who give dialogue about it. One of them can unlock it, revealing a corpse and some assorted loot. One of the Stalkers was lying, and killed the person in the trunk. After figuring out who it was, have one of the remaining Stalkers request that their friend be buried somewhere. Make it one of those grave stashes like the ones in Army Warehouses.

Now of course that one is hyperspecific and should be rare. But it shows that you can make quests using a key item rather than a kill count. One of the first quests in CoP involves you finding and placing poison gas to kill a bloodsucker nest. Considering how effective it was, I'm sure other Stalkers have started doing it.

I'm part of the mercs, and I love it when I'm returning from missions and military, monolith or bandits are coming to try and take the base.
I had a squad of monolith soldiers rush into the base during a psi storm and it got pretty fucking intense.

I don't think you're going to be able to modify Stalker to be faithful to Roadside Picnic. Just the type of game it is makes it close to impossible. A Roadside Picnic game wouldn't be an FPS, it would be more like a puzzle game. Avoiding anomalies and finding artifacts. I would love a Roadside Picnic game the way I'm imagining it but it wouldn't be Stalker.

one thing that bothered me about misery for coc is its the same old textures for ui/inventory at least. they should have changed that imho

and if you are at least half competent you can remove the cooking feature or disable it/related items. then use that as your base for whatever you're doing.

It makes sense in Misery and CoM, as actual food is expensive. In base CoC, and especially with itemsoup there really isn't sense in even having mutant meats in the first place, why would you gather piles of irradiated meat when you can just eat some kolbasa and bread with your vodka, without being a millionaire.

Now that I think of it, I'll just remove those from my CoC, only consequence is that I can't complete those missions, but that's not a big deal.
I guess it would be very easy to remove those missions?
