Don't forget that you technically don't exist as a fan of a small team. /4ccg/ is a garbage fire and I understand why a lot of people who follow the cup avoid it.
is there a video of that /toy/ match the manager throwed and had everyone out of position somewhere?
that shit was dope
>>168726496
Half the teams are anime.
>/jp/, /int/, /toy/ all in the same elite knockout

It's like 2013 all over again. What a time to be alive.Hope /c/ and /e/ get into Summer desu

If you had told me a year ago that /toy/ would be in the knockouts of an elite cup while I was still managing them I would have called you a fool. From losing to >/3/, to getting stuck in a fetus, to barely escaping, to getting into Winter on an own goal, to getting into the knockouts with a medal benched. /toy/'s journey has been fucking nuts.
Congrats to every team in Group C. I honestly feel like we put on the most entertaining show for this cup. To /tv/ and /e/, I fully expect you to bounce back from Spring. Thank you all for the fun games.
Thank you to everyone who has been rooting for /toy/. Hopefully our success will carry over to the knockouts.I love you all <3Mods for the love of fuck stop deleting /toy/ game threads

It's been a crazy yet fulfilling trip for /toy/. Congratulations and good luck.
>>168730746

Ah well, that was a fun three games; I quite enjoyed them. I'll try to get a better feel for 17 by Spring. Well done to /vp/ for the victory!
And yeah, it's a little sad no one replied to my thread, but the roster poll got 13 responses, so I'm not sure what to make of that.
Good luck to the other teams in the "v" "b" and "upside-down b" group!
>>168730924

>>168731286
>shilling for /trash/ while complaining about /p/
/trash/ also has a team already
>>168731159
At least /v/ memes are not outdated
So this is neither bait nor /c/ butthurt, just a legit question:
Why the fuck does the tiebreaker go from GD to GF instead of head-to-head? Most football tournaments I can remember off the top of my head do GD > H2H.
And just as an aside, can someone link me to a wiki page detailing tiebreaker rules? I tried to find one, but failed - Appendix:Rules doesn't list it unless I'm blind.
>>168731070
>And yeah, it's a little sad no one replied to my thread
It's not sad, it's just obvious. No one from the five people in your board gives a shit about the cup and you know it you fucking attention whore
This team is a travesty made for you to get internet "fame"
>>168731286
*sick bassline*
>>168731003

Is there a reason for that aside from "muh WC does it" and "but we've always done it that way"? It just strikes me as retarded to think a e.g. 4-3 victory is in any way superior to a 1-0 victory. In a short competition like this, if you beat someone head-to-head, it's the closest thing you'll get to showing you're actually the better team.
(Of course, GD as first tiebreaker makes sense, since it shows how well a team has performed relative to others over all of their games; however, GF just shows their playstyle.)
>>168746501
Fuck off /sp/. Go down too, and then we can have a truely patrician BO16.

>>168747060
>>168747208
Well the WC is a pretty good reason, but using GF as the tiebreaker basically invites higher goal lines since it implies thinner defenses and stronger attacks
Still, the idea might be that simply using H2H would bring in a team compatibility issue. Maybe /c/'s playstyle just specifically rekts /int/.

>Is there a reason for that aside from "muh WC does it" and "but we've always done it that way"?
Because it rewards teams who play aggressive and risky matches with lots of action over both teams playing super safe with each in their side of the field and launching balls to the other team.
If you think that's stupid and you prefer the later, i suggest watching tennis instead of football.
>>168747404
>invites higher scorelines
Teams don't make tactics specifically with the fringe scenario of facing a GF tiebreaker in mind. Scorelines are gonna be what they are and will depend on PES first and foremost. After 2016, I'm in no hurry to see higher scorelines anyway.
>Maybe /c/'s playstyle just specifically rekts /int/
Maybe. But since they scored the same amount of points, their respective playstyles are approximately as effective all-around (yes, we do have the issue of a tiny sample size). And since the tiebreaker is between those two teams, well, the one that won should go through IMO.

The one and only
I had this whole text written up and then my computer just died, so time to rewrite it.
I'm still on disbelief over what happened. With the way we performed on our first two matches I was expecting us to draw or win by one, not by such a huge margin. And even if we won, I was expecting /mlp/ and /mu/ to play it safe and go for a draw. I didn't think things would go as perfectly as they went.
It feels so surreal that the third place trophy holder, babby winner, two times elite champions, non-visually impaired kart drivers /mlp/ are in the babbies, and that our little team had a hand in it. I'm sure they'll be able to bounce back, so /mlp/ fans should take it as a little vacation. And hey, look at it this way, you'll get to see your team play again in 3 months instead of 6.
/mu/ and /an/ were tough opponents to test against, and I can see /mu/ getting far in the knockouts. Today's tactics were thought up by our new tester Retard Master so a huge part of why we advanced it's owed to him. Of course, I don't want to diminish the hard work of the rest of the management team, Rorona and Mack worked really hard too. I ran a couple tests once.
Thanks once again to all the fans that came to cheer for us. Honestly, even if we failed to advance I would be happy with how warmly the team is received now as opposed to back then in 2012. You guys rock.
I'm not good at writing so I'll end this here. See you in the knockouts!

There's no way you're going to get someone actually removed for "throwing" a game unless the manager flat out admits that they did it. But only like one person has ever done that so it's a moot point

>Need I remind you /gd/ could have scored a third goal before /int/'s comeback should pepsi universe wouldn't have made the choke of the year?
They choked the chance and at the end of the game pretty much every player on /gd/ was tired for going full offensive while /int/ had the upper hand on the final minutes. Why would you keep using a tactic that just gave away 2 goals in such little time? If anything, him parking the bus meant that he wanted to salvage at least a point, and that isn't throwing.
>>168762376

They missed two open goals in 5 minutes, and /int/'s first goal came from a complete defensive AI fuck-up where the defend just didn't even bother going to the ball.
That game should have been dead and buried with a 3-0 scoreline, but every time /gd/ missed an open goal, /int/ scored from the resulting goalkick.
And if it had happened, none of you would be crying rigged.
>>168763023
>the 4CC is more about memes than about being a sirious e-sport
And look where that has taken us.
>>168763195
no you idiot, they went defensive when they started to concede goals
they went offensive when it was 2-1 and /int/ choked the entire game, because they could kill it for once there (and save your precious /c/), but then pepsi universe choked and /int/ scored on the counter. which made them go defensive to stop the same thing that just happened (leaking two goals) from happening again
why is this so hard to understand for you, i don't know
just kidding i do, you're a retarded anime poster trying to stir up shit
>>168763249
You don't get it??? The same formation (that isn't even the same)!!! All teams that used the abomination are on the same scheme, i tell you. Grab your tinfoil hat and i can show you much more
>>168763062
it's almost he put all his forwards out of position so they would fuck up any chances they got. Also might want to note that /int/ couldn't do shit against 4-2-fucking4 until /gd/ turned up their attack level
>>168763384
Oh wow, in a game where medal strikers are choke artists? Non-medals are even worse? Truly the greatest PESing we've ever witnessed.
>>168763449
>no you idiot, they went defensive when they started to concede goals
>they went offensive when it was 2-1
Holy shit, that's Rick James level of backtalking yourself
>>168763490
That was genuinely the worst miss I've seen on 17, I think the only thing worse was that Mami miss back in early 16 when she missed from about 2 yards out
>>168763384
>And if it had happened, none of you would be crying rigged.
if that happened it wouldn't have been rigged you moron
>>168763490
You do realize that leaving his medal on a game of little importance would be more indicative of "throwing" than subbing him after a 2-0 and still no cards, right? I'm not seeing you so angry at /d/ for not even playing their medal on their last game as well.
>>168763107
The bench striker was to avoid getting Kerning a yellow and a suspension because scruffy.
The other one was memes, but it's not like he's the first nor the last person to do that, guess it's the usual "my team is safe and I want this particular player to score because I like him" situation, also it's not like he benched the rest of the medals, the support/midfield control was there.
>>168763613
>same actions happen
>one outcome is rigged but the other isn't
>>168763631
To be fair /d/ vs /tv/ had little importance on the group since both teams were confirmed for either KO/relegation

Taking Kerning off is one thing.
Making Pepsi Universe and Vapor Wave the center of his offense instead of Glich Art is another.

>he's in the comfy cabal
That explains it.
>>168763805
>To be fair /d/ vs /tv/ had little importance on the group
It had little importance on the qualification but could still decide which team advanced first (like it just did - toy advanced as first place instead)
The game was just as dead for /gd/ with only one half to play and a two goal advantage as well
>>168763887
It's all about the balance you fucking nigger
Medal Helvetica on the left, Medal Glitch on the right, Vaporwave in the centre as the centre dummy runner
Not that you'd know any better, plebeian
>>168763862
Bruv, you outright said that they only went defensive when they started conceding goals, then said that they went offensive when /int/ scored their first goal. That's contradicting as fuck. They didn't need to "kill it" because they're through on a draw regardless, up by a goal, and apparently have the most unbeatable defensive formation in PES history in their back pocket. Why not use it instead of LOL LETS FORGET DEFENSE EXISTS
mfw /c/
>>168763981
>Thinking position matters
Advancing is advancing, once you're in you've got the same chance as everyone else, top or bottom. It don't mean shit.
I suppose /f/ was in on it too to make sure that /int/ had a chance, right?
>>168764249
No /c/ is just shit
>>168764249
no, since there was no incentive for them, and unlike Smugleaf, /f/'s managers did not fucking admit to throwing it you chucklefuck.
>>168763464
I'm not saying the guy isn't a memester (check his last post), but there's a difference between fooling around a bit and having a chance to test tactics right on the host computer once your team is through, which is ultimately what the manager should only care and throwing a game. We wouldn't be talking about this should /c/ have scored at least one goal vs /f/, personally, why would I care about the rest of the teams if mine is already through? If another teams doesn't make it, and the end of the day, that's that team's manager's fault. I mean I like /c/ but ultimately it's their own damn fault they failed.
>>168763887
If you think he would have better luck letting vaporwave anywhere but planted on the area waiting for direct balls you know nothing about PES
Vaporwave even had chances. It blundered like a shitty 77 would do, but you said yourself that there was nothing wrong with subbing kerning, so your problem is...?
>>168764145
We'll see that in the draw, frendo
>>168764249
Even /c/ was on it themselves because if they had won all the plan would be for naught!

>>168764438

>>168764470

Sack this apologizing piece of shit country.
>people complain about a manager using meme tactics in a match to effect how the group will turn out against a 3rd party team
>thinking that the league management will do anything about it
Rules or Merit or whatever they call themselves these days didn't give a shit about it in the past and they won't do anything about it this time either. Literally git fucked /c/
>>168764557
Personally I don't give a shit about /c/, this was a dick move to /int/ for feeling dirty for getting through considering they were essentially handed the win.
>>168764438
Just as likely to meet a team that could rek you in the bottom half as the top half. Don't worry, we'll one and done again either way.
>>168764759
Correction: Not win, but draw.
>ywn drown in Gerb's sweet tears
>>168764428
this has nothing to do with what /c/ did/could have done. The incident itself is where the problem lies. i could believe that it was just a case of Smugleaf memery but continuously making his tactics worse until /int/ started to score and then switching to the 5-4-1 once /int/ was in a position to advance raises red flags. Reverse the roles, or even plug different teams into this scenario. Could you imagine the outrage if a team like /p/ did that to get /mlp/ through? the only reason people are even entertaining the fact this wasn't a throw is because it got an epic meme team through
>>168764760

>Pepsi Universe misses the worst shot of the cup
>/int/ score from the resulting goalkick
>"shit"
>switch to defensive because fuck any sort or risk
This is pretty much how it went down in my head.
I've said it already but I'll say it again, I regret switching to +2 after the first goal, I should have just gone back to normal/defensive tactics but I never, and /c/ paid for my foolish actions when they really didn't deserve that.

well /c/ played like absolute garbage through the whole cup so I'd argue they did indeed 'deserve it,' you shouldn't be relying on other teams instead of trying your hardest to win in the first place.
To that one fella on the wiki who made some minor edits to a couple of dead teams' pages, there's no need to make edits that serve absolutely no importance to an encyclopedic standard like that
>>168765428
Wikipedia teaches wiki editors that amassing useless edits is how you win arguments by claiming to be a bigger contributor.
>>168765392
they beat /int/ and held them to 0 shots on target and /int/ did nothing against a 4-2-4 until /gd/ jacked their attack mentality up. They didn't deserve to advance anymore than /c/ did
>>168765392
>>168765541
/gd/ should have 9 pointed that group but got memed on by refs, then memed on their selves
Like, that was a really fucking shit group and /gd/
>>168765541
>they beat /int/ and held them to 0 shots on target
that's hardly a merit, /int/ is one of the worst "big" teams in the cup for quite some time
>and /int/ did nothing against a 4-2-4 until /gd/ jacked their attack mentality up
untrue, /int/ did plenty, but argentina and specially fucking leaf choked like there was no tomorrow (which is usual for /int/ anyway). and /int/ also won /f/ scoring two goals even which is more than /c/ can talk for themselves :^)
>>168765541
Then who did 'deserve' to advance? /f/?
>>168764865
Thing is, before the tactics changes, /int/ had already screwed up several chances thanks to the fucking leaf. Also you forget elements like momentum chance and stamina exist, if /int/ got the upper hand at the it's because /gd/'s super offensive mentality went wrong.
And if you check the usual tactical changes done on concession timeouts, those are normally done after a few goals, not the first one, since manager usually blame RNG and still trust their tactic until it fails again, which is what happened here, went full defensive once he realized things have gone south at the end in order to save at least a point.
Basically a mixture of the usual smuglel memes and RNG, not malice, just memes.

What a mess lmao
>>168765846
Weed is a hell of a drug.
So, whilst people continue to argue whether /c/ got riggy diggy'd out of the cup or if it was just PES being PES or not, figured would look at what he have currently to work with:
>Group E
Unless [r9k] beats /vg/ with 2 or more goals, /vg/ is basically guaranteed round of 16 spot for memes.
>Group F
>muh 4-3-2-1 point score so far in the group
Wew. Still, hopeful that /fit/ can escape the babbies yet again tomorrow.
>Group G
Could be anyone's gaem here, especially with how many good teams there are on here. So just a matter of wait and see.
>Group H
Nothing but 3s as far as the eye see, so these next two matches will settle this once and for all with whoever wins them by the end of tomorrow.
>>168764950
it is okay my friend, it's just a casualty of memery and memery is what keeps this cup going. I look forward to watching /gd/ in the knockouts
